One Piece: Red Sword - Chapter 1
One Piece World, South Blue.
The surface of the sea was calm and blue. A faint salty scent from the ocean spread through the air.
This was the Yelut Sea, part of the South Blue, one of the four great seas.
At this moment, in the Yelut Sea, a medium-sized pirate ship was drifting aimlessly across the sea.
On board, the scene was full of bl00d and violence.
The bodies of pirates were scattered all over the ship.
The pirates had died horribly—some with limbs torn off, some with their heads split in two, and others with large holes in their chests.
Red bl00d pooled on the wooden deck, filling the air with a strong, disgusting smell.
Inside the cabin, bodies lay everywhere.
The thick smell of bl00d filled the air, making the room suffocating.
In the middle of the cabin stood a figure, a woman dressed in black, standing straight.
“This makes ten now…”
She held a yellowed piece of paper in her left hand and a long sword in her right.
Looking at the picture on the paper, she spoke softly to herself.
Then, she raised her arm and cut off the head of one of the corpses on the ground.
“Bart the Gunslinger. Bounty: 37 million.”
Behind her, she carried a large white burlap sack.
She compared the head in her hand to the wanted poster, making sure the face was still recognizable, then stuffed it into the sack.
Whoosh. Whoosh.
Another head added to the sack, making it heavier.
The already full sack bulged even more.
“Bart the Gunslinger, bounty: 37 million.”
“Barbara the Greatsword, bounty: 22 million.”
“Ricky the Bomber, bounty: 30 million.”
“Raymond the Axeman, bounty: 42 million.”
“…”
The woman pulled out a bunch of old, yellowed wanted posters and read them one by one, calculating the total in her mind.
“Heh… With all these pirate heads, I should get at least 300 to 400 million from the Marines.
Once I finish this mission, I’ll still have plenty of money left.”
She laughed quietly, then stuffed the wanted posters into the sack and walked out of the cabin.
Luo Ze was a traveler from another world.
She had crossed into the world of One Piece and received a Swordsman System.
Just like other systems, this one gave her missions from time to time.
She had to complete these missions to earn rewards that would make her stronger.
She had been in this world for two years.
She arrived in the year 1516 of the Sea Circle Calendar—four years before Luffy set out to sea.
Now it was 1518. Two more years until Luffy would start his journey.
In these two years, Luo Ze grew from a clueless newbie into a well-known pirate hunter in South Blue.
She became a pirate hunter mainly because the system missions required a lot of money.
The Marines’ salary was low, and being a pirate meant you had to steal everything yourself.
So Luo Ze chose to be a pirate hunter.
After all, pirates had to search everywhere and fight to steal treasure,
but she only needed to find a pirate crew and wipe them out with her sword.
That way, she could take their stolen treasure, and if they had a bounty,
she could turn in their heads to the Marines for money.
It was a win-win.
Of course, South Blue was the strongest of the four seas.
Pirates here were more powerful and extremely dangerous.
Without enough strength, anyone could die at any moment.
It wasn’t easy for a newcomer to survive in such a place,
and it was even harder to become well-known.
Luckily, Luo Ze had the system to help her.
At the start, the missions were simple.
She didn’t need guns or clubs, only her sword, and she leveled up quickly.
Later, she began hunting weaker pirates to grow stronger.
Now, two years had passed. Luo Ze was strong enough to take down South Blue pirates with bounties around 60 million.
“It’s time to go back to Logue Town. After killing so many pirates, the Marines are going to owe me a lot.”
Luo Ze smiled lightly, feeling very pleased with her great harvest.
She carried the sack of pirate heads and jumped onto her small boat.
Once aboard, she casually started the engine.
The boat began to move on its own.
This small boat used a motor and was built by an old shipwright in Logue Town who was known for his skills.
His boats were expensive but fully automatic.
Luo Ze didn’t know how to sail, so she could only travel thanks to this motorboat.
As her long journey began, Luo Ze set the direction, then found a place to lie down.
It was daytime, and the sun was burning hot, but the boat had a shaded spot.
She lay there, enjoying the sea breeze and relaxing.
The cool wind blew over her, and soon Luo Ze felt sleepy and drifted off.
No one knew how long the boat had been sailing when suddenly—
BOOM!
A loud cannon blast woke Luo Ze from her sleep.
“What’s going on!?”
She jumped up out of instinct, drawing her sword in a flash.
The sunlight reflected off her blade, creating a bright glare.
“A Navy ship?”
Luo Ze’s eyes narrowed in confusion.
Her boat clearly wasn’t a pirate ship, nor was it large.
So why were the Marines firing cannons at her?
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Before she could think further, the Marine ship fired again, aiming straight at her boat.
“Damn Marines.”
Luo Ze didn’t have time to figure it out.
She stood up quickly and, just before the cannonballs hit, swung her sword—
slash!—cutting three of them in half.
“Hey! Marines! I’m not a pirate, I’m a pirate hunter—Luo Ze the Sword Killer!”
After cutting the cannonballs, Luo Ze shouted at the warship ahead, trying to tell them who she was.
She didn’t want to waste time—one second late, and they might fire again.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
But the Marines ignored her completely.
The warship aimed again and fired several cannons at once, launching a crazy attack.
“You damn Marines… beasts!”
Luo Ze’s face darkened.
These Marines clearly wanted her dead—buried in the sea!
