- Chapter 15 - Sharing a Bed
Yun Shu was outside, pretending to be dead.
Everything that had happened today had completely exceeded her expectations.
After Xie Tang went inside, Yun Shu sniffed around outside, still unsure if she had leaked any pheromones.
Xie Tang, such a kind and innocent person, had only taken her in out of the goodness of her heart because of the heavy rain. If Yun Shu couldn’t control her pheromones now, how would she be any different from a scoundrel?
Afraid that the pheromones might accumulate inside, Yun Shu deliberately opened the window to air out the room.
When Xie Tang emerged, she found Yun Shu standing by the window, lost in thought.
“The water’s boiled,” Xie Tang said, approaching Yun Shu and holding out a set of light blue, fleece-lined pajamas. “I don’t have any new ones. Would you mind wearing my old ones?”
Xie Tang’s pajamas.
Yun Shu’s mind suddenly went blank.
She swallowed hard and, sounding foolish, asked, “For me?”
Xie Tang tilted her head. “Is there anyone else in this room?”
Yun Shu, her face flushed crimson, accepted the ‘hot potato’ with both hands.
Yun Shu forced herself to walk to the bathroom with a normal expression. Only after she had completely closed the door did she finally crouch down, her cheeks burning crimson.
She kept repeating to herself:Â Xie Tang is just kind and cares about you, Yun Shu. Don’t overthink it.
She had never been in a romantic relationship before.
But she knew that straight women sometimes didn’t realize how heavy-handed they could be. To them, things like sharing meals, sleeping together, holding hands, and hugging were all perfectly normal.
Wearing Xie Tang’s pajamas was undoubtedly just an unintentional gesture.
Yun Shu couldn’t help but pat her own head, whispering to herself, “Yun Shu, stop overthinking it.”
In the original novel, Xie Tang had never liked the original host. It was highly probable that she still fundamentally disliked women and was repulsed by them. Therefore, all these actions carried no romantic intent whatsoever.
Yun Shu, what right do you have to fantasize that Xie Tang could ever like you?
To distract herself, she took a quick shower.
Finally, with her ears still flushed, she reluctantly put on Xie Tang’s pajamas.
The fit was perfect.
Yun Shu could even faintly detect Xie Tang’s lingering scent on the fabric.
She felt as if Xie Tang were embracing her at that moment.
When Yun Shu emerged from the bathroom, Xie Tang was sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at her phone. For some reason, Yun Shu sensed that Xie Tang’s expression seemed off.
Hearing the sound from the bathroom, Xie Tang immediately turned off her phone.
She looked up at Yun Shu, who was tying up her hair, wearing Xie Tang’s pajamas, her fair cheeks flushed pink, and blinking as she met Xie Tang’s gaze.
Xie Tang was momentarily lost in thought, but she quickly regained her composure. When she spoke again, her voice was slightly hoarse: “Does it fit okay?”
Yun Shu nodded, stroking the soft pajamas against her skin, feeling utterly satisfied.
But to maintain her persona, she replied with feigned reluctance: “It’s… alright, I guess.”
Like a snow-white kitten pretending to be aloof.
Xie Tang’s gaze involuntarily drifted to Yun Shu’s neck and collarbones.
She withdrew her gaze and patted the edge of the bed. “Come lie down. I’ll go take a shower.”
Only after Xie Tang had taken her clothes and entered the bathroom did Yun Shu finally breathe a sigh of relief.
She sat on the edge of the bed, touching her burning cheeks, still feeling like this couldn’t be real.
How did I end up staying at Xie Tang’s house today…?
We’re going to sleep together later. What if I can’t control my pheromones? Will Xie Tang hate me?
What if I have some bad habits I never realized before, like snoring or grinding my teeth?
Is Xie Tang a light sleeper? Will I wake her up if I toss and turn at night?
Yun Shu’s anxiety spiraled. The mere thought of these possibilities made her skin crawl with discomfort.
This was the first time in her eighteen years that Yun Shu had ever slept in the same bed with another girl.
It was impossible not to feel nervous.
When Xie Tang emerged from the bathroom, the lights outside had been turned off, leaving only a small lamp lit in the room.
Yun Shu lay on the edge of the bed, covered by the blanket, not even looking at her phone, just blinking at Xie Tang.
Xie Tang paused, asking casually, “Why aren’t you asleep yet?”
Yun Shu wouldn’t dare admit she was too excited to sleep. She offered a vague excuse: “I’m not very tired.”
She watched quietly as Xie Tang dried her hair.
Xie Tang’s hair was dark and straight, making her delicate cheeks appear even paler.
As the wind blew, Yun Shu could clearly catch Xie Tang’s scent.
Her gaze drifted to Xie Tang’s wrist. Perhaps it was her imagination, but Xie Tang seemed to have gained a little weight.
It was a vast improvement over her earlier, gaunt appearance.
After drying her hair, Xie Tang turned and walked toward the bed.
Yun Shu gripped the blanket tightly, her breathing slowing considerably.
Xie Tang stood by the bed, looking down at Yun Shu. The girl’s dark hair lay scattered across the sheets, only her watery eyes fixed on Xie Tang.
For some reason, Xie Tang suddenly felt like she had kidnapped a pure-hearted young lady from a wealthy family.
She deliberately leaned closer, tilting her head. “Yun Shu, you seem quite tense.”
Her question wasn’t without reason.
After all, the Original Host had never lacked for admirers. Sleeping with others was probably as commonplace as drinking water for her. It was truly odd that Yun Shu would blush just from sharing a bed.
A flicker of panic crossed Yun Shu’s eyes as she tightened her grip on the blanket. “How could I be?”
Yun Shu’s subconscious reaction only confirmed Xie Tang’s suspicion that Yun Shu had never slept with anyone else.
This realization filled Xie Tang with a deep sense of satisfaction.
As soon as Xie Tang sat on the edge of the bed, Yun Shu subtly shifted to the other side.
Yun Shu was inwardly tormented, preparing to reason with Xie Tang again.
“Xie Tang, I’m an Alpha. We shouldn’t be sleeping together.”
Yun Shu’s voice was always soft and gentle. She rarely used firm, decisive words like “can’t” or “won’t,” preferring instead to say “shouldn’t” or “can’t.”
It made her sound so vulnerable, so easy to tease.
If Xie Tang tries anything else in the future, will Yun Shu just let her have her way, only to offer a few harmless words of protest afterward?
Xie Tang’s expression remained calm as she turned to face Yun Shu, their faces drawing suddenly close.
Her voice was soft and gentle. “Why not?”
Yun Shu could smell the scent of Xie Tang’s shower gel. She shrank back against the pillow, her mind racing. “Because… it’s not right.”
“Xie Tang, please don’t bring Alphas home anymore. It’s too dangerous.”
Xie Tang glanced at her, her gaze lingering on Yun Shu’s pure, innocent face. A mischievous impulse suddenly struck her, and she feigned ignorance, asking, “Why would it be dangerous?”
Yun Shu didn’t suspect for a moment that Xie Tang was deliberately playing dumb. After all, Xie Tang was such a pure and gentle person.
She had initially intended to give her a serious explanation, but remembering the role she was currently playing, she said coldly, “Because you’re still mine. Until the contract ends, you can’t have contact with anyone else.”
The smile on Xie Tang’s lips gradually faded as she thought about the contract, which had less than three months remaining. She slowly lay back down on the bed.
She had once eagerly counted down the days until that day arrived, but now Xie Tang felt a strange aversion to the thought.
She realized that subconsciously, she didn’t want that day to come.
“I’ve never brought anyone else home,” Xie Tang murmured softly. “You’re the first, Yun Shu.”
