When Yun Shu woke up, she stared blankly at the stark white ceiling for a moment before slowly blinking her beautiful eyes.
She seemed to have had a dream—a dream where she had transmigrated into a book.
I knew it couldn’t be…
Ow!
A thin layer of mist welled up in the corners of Yun Shu’s eyes. Her neck felt like it no longer belonged to her.
She quickly scanned the room. This opulent mansion was nothing like her cramped six-square-meter rental apartment.
Could last night have been real?
Sensing her awakening, the System began reporting progress:
Good morning, Host. Xie Tang’s Blackening Value is currently at 79%.
Yun Shu wanted to cry but had no tears left. It wasn’t a dream after all!
Still, she quietly breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed letting Xie Tang retaliate last night had been the right choice.
Only after getting up did she notice another person in the room.
The room’s heavy black curtains were drawn, leaving only a narrow slit open. The bright sunlight felt blinding.
Xie Tang sat on a chair at the far end of the room, dressed in revealing clothes and wearing shackles on her snow-white ankles. She seemed to want nothing more than to be as far away from Yun Shu as possible.
Xie Tang was currently reading, her head bowed, the curve of her neck graceful and elegant.
Yun Shu found herself mesmerized.
Although Xie Tang’s beauty had been emphasized repeatedly in the book, it still couldn’t compare to the real-life experience.
Sitting there, she looked like a living painting—quiet, refined, and gentle.
Yun Shu had never been quite sure of her own sexual orientation. She had never been in love, her life consumed by work and studies.
But now, Yun Shu felt her cheeks flush. She tried to turn away to hide her reaction but accidentally brushed against the wound on her neck, letting out a soft hiss of pain.
Xie Tang’s hand, gripping her pen, tightened abruptly, her lips pressing into a thin line.
She knew it. Yun Shu had done this on purpose last night, and now she’s here to make trouble.
Yun Shu’s eyes watered with pain, but she refused to show it in front of Xie Tang. Forcing herself to blink back the tears, she gritted her teeth and stood up.
The chain around Xie Tang’s ankle seemed to burn into her vision.
The chain was smart, designed to unlock only with Yun Shu’s iris scan.
As Yun Shu slowly approached, Xie Tang’s breath caught in her throat.
She couldn’t predict whether Yun Shu’s hand would strike her face in the next moment. After all, Xie Tang had bitten her last night with the determination to kill her.
No matter how Yun Shu struggled afterward, she hadn’t stopped. Moreover, she noticed that her heat symptoms seemed to have subsided significantly.
By the time it was over, Yun Shu had completely lost consciousness, and the area around her neck was a gruesome sight.
Xie Tang had long anticipated the consequences she would face this morning.
Yun Shu stopped in front of her.
Xie Tang lowered her gaze and noticed Yun Shu was studying a finance textbook, covered in annotations, her expression deeply focused.
Even now, trapped like a caged bird, Yun Shu refused to abandon any opportunity.
Yun Shu noticed her and let out a sigh of relief.
That means Xie Tang still wants to live.
If she had lost all will to survive, that would have been the most terrifying outcome.
But now, it was alright.
Yun Shu’s greatest regret about that book was that Xie Tang never finished college.
Now that she was here, her wish was simple: she wanted Xie Tang to recover, to be free from all constraints, and to pursue the life she truly desired.
Yun Shu thought this in her heart, but her face remained as cold as ice.
Her small face was tense as she pulled out a black silk ribbon and tossed it onto Xie Tang’s desk, her voice utterly cold: “Take this.”
Xie Tang’s complexion suddenly turned ghastly at the sight of the black silk ribbon, but she still put it on with a grim expression.
At the same moment, the System announced:Â Host! The Blackening Value has risen to 82%!
Yun Shu remained silent.
Xie Tang’s skin was strikingly pale, her features exquisitely beautiful. However, prolonged lack of sunlight and malnutrition had left her complexion wan and her body unnaturally gaunt.
Yun Shu recalled how, in the original novel, the original Yun Shu would starve Xie Tang for days on end, all to satisfy her own controlling desires, only deigning to offer her food when she was in a good mood.
Moreover, the original Yun Shu had a drinking addiction. She not only indulged herself but also forced Xie Tang to drink. If Xie Tang refused, she would be met with brutal beatings, each punch and kick aimed at her stomach.
The original Yun Shu’s cruelty was relentless, and over time, Xie Tang’s stomach had been ruined.
Yun Shu sighed softly, crouched down, and gently took hold of Xie Tang’s slender ankle.
Yun Shu felt Xie Tang’s body tremble slightly, recognizing it as the lingering trauma from the original owner’s abuse resurfacing.
But if she didn’t let Xie Tang wear the black silk blindfold, Xie Tang would realize Yun Shu had no idea how to unlock the shackles.
Xie Tang’s legs were stunningly beautiful—so pale they seemed to glow, with perfect, slender proportions and skin as soft as the finest mutton-fat jade.
Yun Shu blinked, nearly forgetting her purpose.
Enduring the pain in her neck, she tilted her head and studied the lock for a long time, inwardly grumbling about how advanced the technology in this world was.
Couldn’t they just give me a key or something?
Xie Tang forced her voice to remain calm. “Stop pretending. Just do what you want.”
Yun Shu’s voice was cold and harsh. “Don’t speak.”
Even she was startled by her own harsh tone.
I’m so sorry, Xie Tang! Waaah! I didn’t mean to be so mean to you! QAQ
Finally, after five minutes, Yun Shu managed to unlock the ankle shackles. She tossed the heavy restraints aside with a sharp clatter.
Xie Tang stiffened slightly, her vision completely blacked out. She had no idea what would happen next.
She had heard that an Alpha’s Heat Period lasted at least seven days, so this must just be the beginning, right?
Yun Shu casually yanked off the loose knot tying Xie Tang’s hair at the back of her head, her voice cold: “Come down to eat in twenty minutes.”
As she turned to leave, she added, “Your bones were digging into me all night.”
Ignoring Xie Tang’s expression, Yun Shu turned and walked away.
Xie Tang clutched the silk in her hand, her face as still as a pond.
Yun Shu was acting very strangely today.
The moment Yun Shu stepped out of the room, she bit her lip and let out a soft “Ah!”
This hurts so much! TT
So painful, so painful, waaaah! Thank goodness I didn’t mark Xie Tang last night. She definitely couldn’t have endured this pain.
As Yun Shu descended the stairs, she noticed the housekeeper, Aunt Shen, flinch slightly.
Yun Shu had memories of Aunt Shen—a longtime servant of the Yun family, childless and unmarried, who had watched Yun Shu grow up. She never imagined the girl would turn out so twisted, ultimately imprisoning an innocent Omega.
Yun Shu’s treatment of Aunt Shen was often harsh, frequently shouting at her. Yet Aunt Shen couldn’t help but remember Yun Shu’s obedient and sweet childhood, feeling both heartbroken and helpless.
“Aunt Shen.”
Yun Shu forced her voice to sound cold and indifferent. “Make something light.”
Aunt Shen glanced at her, her gaze landing on Yun Shu’s bl00d-streaked glands. Her pupils constricted sharply.
Concealing the pity in her eyes, she murmured, “Miss, your glands…”
Despite Yun Shu’s transformation, Aunt Shen still cared deeply for her. After all, Yun Shu was the child she had watched grow up.
Usually, Yun Shu would impatiently interrupt her after the first few words.
But today, Yun Shu seemed less agitated.
Aunt Shen carefully finished her sentence, “Shall I get the medical kit to bandage them?”
Yun Shu froze for a moment, taken aback by this unexpected concern from an elder. A sudden pang of emotion welled up in her chest.
For a moment, she didn’t know how to respond.
To hide her reaction, she quickly turned away. “This little scratch doesn’t hurt at all.”
She added, “When she comes downstairs later, make sure she eats.”
Yun Shu knew Xie Tang probably wanted to see her least of all.
Though a pang of disappointment lingered, she just wanted Xie Tang to eat properly.
After giving these instructions, she returned alone to the original owner’s room.
The room was vast, dwarfing Yun Shu’s tiny six-square-meter rented apartment. Even a simple glass cup in this room was worth more than her three years of university tuition.
Standing there, Yun Shu felt a complex mix of emotions, including envy.
Some people are born with privileges others can only dream of, yet they fail to appreciate them.
Damn rich people.
After her cynical outburst, Yun Shu suddenly remembered her wound.
She entered the bathroom and stared in shock at the mirror. The original owner looked almost exactly like her original self.
The only difference was the original owner’s sharper aura. The girl in the mirror exuded a fierce, almost malevolent energy, making it hard to believe she had just turned eighteen—half a year younger than Xie Tang.
Yun Shu tilted her head, biting her lip as she examined the mangled gland on her shoulder.
Xie Tang must have used tremendous force last night.
Pale-faced, Yun Shu gently cleaned the wound with warm water.
The System, observing her condition, couldn’t help but ask:Â Host, are you sure you can handle this?
Yun Shu’s wounds had already scabbed over, the bl00d and flesh fused together, making the cleaning process particularly gruesome.
Yun Shu, her forehead slick with cold sweat, shook her head dismissively. “It’s nothing, just a minor scratch.”
She had worked at a fruit shop before, where she had accidentally cut her hand, and during her 800-meter races, she had fallen, her legs covered in bl00d, yet she had always pushed through to finish.
It was just a simple wound; a quick wash would do the trick. Nothing to worry about.
Unfortunately, while the original owner of this body possessed a proud, ruthless temperament, her physical constitution was woefully weak.
By the time Yun Shu had finished cleaning the wound, her vision was darkening at the edges. She forced herself to sit up on the bed.
The bed was draped with a luxurious silk quilt. Yun Shu slowly curled up, shrinking into a small ball on the soft mattress.
Truthfully, Yun Shu’s mind had been in turmoil since the previous night.
Just as the System had said, she had recently passed her university entrance exams through sheer hard work and was fretting about how to make ends meet. Now, she had suddenly become the daughter of the wealthiest man in the country, with no financial worries whatsoever.
But why…
Yun Shu clenched her trembling hands.
Why do I feel so unfamiliar and afraid?
Everything here was foreign to her.
A completely unfamiliar world. She had no idea what challenges lay ahead.
What if Xie Tang discovers I’m not the original owner of this body?
What if I slip up somewhere?
She didn’t notice her body temperature suddenly spiking, only that the blanket seemed to offer no warmth at all.
She curled up into a ball, her consciousness beginning to fade into a haze.
She dreamed of her childhood self.
No, not her actual childhood self—she never owned such a beautiful dress.
This was merely a scene conjured from her imagination.
In the dream, the ‘her’ wore a stained white dress and sobbed, “Sister…”
A girl appeared before her, her face indistinct, but her voice was gentle. “Don’t cry, don’t cry… Are you lost? Let me take you home, okay?”
“Sister…” Yun Shu’s small face flushed crimson as she choked out, “I’m scared.”
