Stealing My Stepsister's Fiancée - Chapter 19
Chapter 19: Lessons in Love
Su Yu didn’t nod. She didn’t shake her head either. She just stood there, eyes downcast, stiff as a post.
Ni Hezhi sighed. This clueless, emotionally constipated girl was somehow more baffling than solving physics equations on three hours of sleep.
“Hey…” she called, a trace of exasperation slipping into her voice. “Su Yu, do you know how to pursue someone you like?”
That caught her off guard. Su Yu’s lashes fluttered, heart thumping erratically.
What did she mean by that?
Did she notice something?
She looked up, flustered, her voice shaking. “Wh-what?”
“I’m saying…” Ni Hezhi smiled like a fox with a secret, “I’m teaching you how to chase after someone. A girl.”
Su Yu blinked, still dazed.
Ni Hezhi’s voice turned soft, like she was letting her in on a trick. “If a girl gives you something, and you like her back—you don’t return it. Keep it. That way, you have a reason to return the gesture. That’s how you create chances to get closer. Get it?”
Her words flowed casually, like she was just teasing. But they struck deeper than they appeared.
Su Yu froze. Her face remained blank, but something inside her stirred. Her heart couldn’t help leaping at the idea of receiving something from the person she liked—being allowed to hold on to it.
But from the outside, she just looked as blank as ever.
Ni Hezhi glanced over and felt her enthusiasm drain. “Hey, why are you looking at me like that? I meant practice on me. Not actually chase me!”
That was clearly the wrong move.
Su Yu panicked. “N-no! That’s not—!”
“Forget it.” Ni Hezhi muttered, exasperated. This girl was hopeless. “Whatever. The clothes are yours now. Burn them, wear them, use them as floor rags—I don’t care.”
With her chin raised high and expression proud, she swept out of the room like an indignant peacock.
Su Yu stood frozen for a moment, biting her lip. Then she glanced down at the clothes in her arms… and turned to the back room in silence.
Outside, Ni Hezhi tried to shake off her frustration. But laughter caught her ear—warm, lighthearted.
Shu Hui was twirling around in her new skirt, the hem fluttering as she showed it off. Grandma was beside her, face crinkled in a delighted grin. “So pretty, so, so pretty…”
Shu Hui spotted Ni Hezhi and skipped over to her, wrapping herself around her arm affectionately.
Ni Hezhi grinned and gave her a dramatic thumbs-up. “Absolutely gorgeous.”
The girl beamed, did a few more proud spins, and held her hem again.
And then—came a voice behind them.
“Grandma… can we eat now?”
Ni Hezhi turned instinctively toward the voice—and then stopped short.
Su Yu stood there, now wearing the outfit Ni Hezhi had given her. The pale hoodie softened her whole presence, lending her a fresher, more modern look. The sweatpants matched, with a small brand tag stitched along the seam. The cropped design revealed her pale ankles—slim and clean, not fragile but graceful. Her long legs carried an easy strength, the whole image young and full of life.
Amazing what a change of clothes could do.
And Omega’s eyes… they were glued to her.
Su Yu shifted under the gaze, her cheeks warming despite herself. She tugged at the edge of the sweatshirt, uneasy.
“I’ll go serve the food,” she muttered, and started toward the kitchen.
“Wait,” Ni Hezhi called after her.
Su Yu paused, halfway turned when she felt something tug lightly at the back of her hoodie.
“The hood’s inside out.”
Su Yu blinked. It was her first time wearing one—she hadn’t even noticed.
Ni Hezhi stepped up behind her and fixed it gently, smoothing the fabric down. But her hand lingered longer than necessary.
This silly girl—dressed like this, she was almost too tempting. Her neck was pale and cool-toned, soft like the first sprout of bamboo after rain. Her skin was so fine, so light, it felt like brushing warm velvet.
How could anyone not want to cuddle her?
Ni Hezhi’s hand moved on its own, gliding from Su Yu’s cheek down to the delicate curve of her neck. There, right at her gland, she spotted a tiny mole.
Dark, subtle, and maddeningly placed.
It called out like a secret begging to be kissed.
Ni Hezhi circled it gently with her fingertip, absentmindedly stroking it.
Su Yu shivered under her touch—like a pebble dropped into still water, her whole body rippling.
Then came the whisper.
Ni Hezhi leaned in, her breath brushing Su Yu’s ear, her voice low and syrupy-sweet:
“Su Yu, you’re beautiful.”
Boom.
The little id**t turned scarlet.
