Stealing My Stepsister's Fiancée - Chapter 21
Chapter 21 – An Unexpected Heat
Ni Hezhi lowered her head like a quail, palms outstretched to push Su Yu away.
“What are you doing? Let… let go… cough cough…”
The sharp, urgent coughs seemed to pierce Su Yu’s heart like a fishbone, a thin, spreading ache wrapping tightly around her.
Ni Hezhi coughed so hard she could barely speak in full sentences. Su Yu’s expression grew increasingly panicked, but her arms didn’t move an inch.
“Are… are you feeling any better? Is the bone still stuck?”
Ni Hezhi’s cheeks flushed red from the effort, the corners of her eyes tipped with a rare vulnerability. Yet her eyes remained innocent, clear — and irresistibly alluring.
She gazed at Su Yu with a kitten-like plea.
“I still feel terrible… Let me try some more vinegar.”
Su Yu was completely caught in her gaze, her heart soft and aching. She hurriedly brought another bowl of vinegar to Ni Hezhi’s lips.
The aged vinegar was sharp and pungent. Ni Hezhi took a few gulps, then doubled over with more heavy coughs.
Su Yu completely lost her composure — like Sun Wukong watching his master being taken — totally at a loss.
“This isn’t working! I’ll take you to the hospital!”
With that, she rushed toward Grandma in a panic. The old lady was still frozen in shock from witnessing her typically reserved granddaughter voluntarily hug an Omega. Her mouth hung open wide enough to fit an egg.
Su Yu spoke urgently.
“Grandma, I need to borrow some money.”
Grandma finally snapped out of it, slowly closing her mouth.
“Ah? Okay — hurry to the hospital. It’s in the pillowcase. If it’s not enough, check the wooden box under the bed.”
Not daring to waste a second, Su Yu dashed inside to retrieve the money. Behind her, Grandma asked in a daze,
“Ayu, it’s so late… The hospital’s dozens of miles from Tong Village. How are you getting there?”
Su Yu paused.
“I’ll ask Qiu Xia for help. Her dad has a car.”
The moment the name Qiu Xia was spoken, Ni Hezhi bristled like a hedgehog — her full-body defenses flaring to life. Her sharp, chilly voice — laced with coughing — pierced Su Yu’s ears.
“Su… cough cough Su Yu… come back. You’re not allowed to go!”
Despite her anxiety, Su Yu turned back obediently, but this time, her movements carried rare assertiveness. She slipped her arm around Ni Hezhi’s waist and pulled her outside without giving her a chance to resist.
“No — we have to go to the hospital.”
Already in a complete mess, Ni Hezhi didn’t care about adding to her embarrassment.
“I said I’m not going — can’t you understand?! Cough cough Who even are you to me… cough What gives you the right to make decisions for me? Even if it hurts me to death — it’s my business.”
Su Yu silently took the scolding, confused about what exactly she’d done to make her angry. She turned back and poured her a cup of warm water.
Perhaps from the frustration, Ni Hezhi was now coughing so hard it felt like her organs were twisting. Seeing her in such discomfort, Su Yu felt as though her heart was being cut to pieces. Without hesitation, she pulled her back into a hug and gently patted her on the back.
Suddenly, the pain in Ni Hezhi’s throat vanished.
She tested a swallow — the fishbone was gone.
With the pain gone, her other senses gradually returned. And only then did she realize — she was still nestled softly in Su Yu’s arms. Their bodies fully pressed together, their breathing and heartbeats syncing little by little.
Su Yu’s warm palm roamed slowly across her back, rubbing gently, sending tingling shivers down her spine that spread throughout her body.
It felt like Su Yu was peeling away her shell — leaving her soft and melted, turning to puddled water.
Ni Hezhi bit her lip, flustered.
This dumb girl’s hand was so warm… her fingertips even hotter.
So… comfortable…
Her breath grew chaotic, apricot eyes misting, a seductive red hue pooling in their depths. Her cheeks turned an inviting shade of pink, her body weak and pliant. The air she exhaled grew shallow, uneven.
The sensation was unmistakable — the onset of heat.
Before coming to Tong Village, Jiang Sui had forced her to take long-acting suppressants. They were supposed to keep her Omega cycle in check — no heat for at least six months.
So how…?
They were only hugging. Su Yu hadn’t even released her pheromones. And yet — shamefully — she…
Was going into heat.
While her mind spun with disbelief, Su Yu’s hand slid lower — brushing her lower back. The sensation was light, but heat bloomed sharply from where she was touched, threatening to knock her to the ground.
She instinctively clung to Su Yu’s neck, pressing her fevered, flushed face into her shoulder, trembling uncontrollably.
Su Yu seemed to sense something was off. She looked down and saw Ni Hezhi biting her lip, her cheeks bright red, even the skin around her eyes tinged pink. Tear droplets clung to her lashes. She looked even more distressed than before.
“Hezhi… are you okay?” Su Yu’s voice was full of worry, and for the first time, she took charge firmly.
“I’m going to call for a car. We’re going to the hospital.”
Ni Hezhi immediately wrapped her arms around Su Yu’s waist.
“No… come back!”
She tried to steady her trembling voice.
“Su Yu, there’s no need for the hospital. I’m fine now.”
The worry between Su Yu’s brows instantly softened, but just as quickly, she frowned again.
“Still, we should get it checked. What if your throat was scratched?”
“Really, I’m fine.”
As they locked eyes, Ni Hezhi quickly looked away — unable to maintain eye contact.
Not for any complicated reason.
Her lace underwear… was wet.
Just a light hug from Su Yu, and her body reacted out of control.
And with her shame now added to the mix, it would only get worse.
