Punish the Heavens and Punish the Gods - Chapter 02
“My dear brother, of course there was something! Don’t tell me you’ve already forgotten?” my sister said, looking surprised.
“I… I don’t remember… wait, yes, I do!” I replied quickly.
My sister crossed her arms. “Finally! So tell me — how on earth were you so powerful yesterday? You even beat three Bimons! How did you do that?” She looked at me with wide, expectant eyes.
I scratched my head and said, “Oh, right! Father — why did you throw my chicken wings on the ground yesterday?”
The moment I said that, Father didn’t scold me like he usually would. Instead, his face changed completely. He laughed loudly and said, “Yan Jie, if you want chicken wings, I’ll have the chef make twenty baskets for you!”
Then he turned to a nearby Bimon guard and barked, “Tell the chef to make twenty baskets of chicken wings for His Highness Yan Jie!”
“Yes, sir!” the guard replied.
I stared at Father in shock. He looked back at me with a kind smile. “Son, what’s that look for?” he asked.
“Father,” I said honestly, “you seem… different today. You’re actually being nice to me!”
Father chuckled, picked up a piece of fish with his chopsticks, and placed it in my bowl. “Well, I do have a reason,” he said mysteriously. “Come to the garden at six tonight. I have something important to discuss with you.”
Hearing that, my excitement faded a little. I had really thought Father was just being kind for once. “Can’t you tell me now?” I asked.
He glanced around and lowered his voice. “There are ears on the walls…”
That evening, I headed to the garden. Father was already there, sitting at a stone table, sipping tea like a patient old fox.
“Father, I’m here!” I called out.
“Ah, Yan Jie, finally! I’ve been waiting since four twenty,” he said, motioning to the seat across from him. “Come, sit down.”
“Thank you, Father,” I said, sitting properly. “What’s the important matter? I’m all ears!”
He poured me a cup of water, then said, “The Beast Emperor originally wanted me to find an orc who looked somewhat human — someone who could infiltrate the Human Kingdom as a spy. Yesterday, when you lost control, your appearance turned half-human. So I’ve decided to send you. What do you think?”
I froze for a moment, then nodded. “I’ll gladly obey your orders, Father. But… how long will I have to be away?”
“Six years!” Father said firmly. “In those six years, you’ll learn my secret techniques — the Art of Lust and Eighteen Dragon Fists. You’ll also learn your mother’s Eighteen Palms of the Human Race. From your grandmother, you’ll master the Demon Clan’s Shadow Duel and Dark Magic. And from your sister, you’ll pick up some Wind Magic. You must master all of them in six years. Understand?”
“Yes, Father!” I replied quickly.
Six years later…
I was sixteen.
“Haha! I’ve finally mastered everything Father taught me — both magic and fighting spirit! I’m such a genius!” I laughed to myself. “Tomorrow, I’ll head to the Human Kingdom of Lanwu. I can’t wait to see what humans really look like… I wonder if they look like me.”
The next morning, I knocked on Father’s door.
“Come in!” his deep voice boomed.
I stepped inside. “Father, I’ve finished my training. I can leave for the Lanwu Kingdom tomorrow!”
“Excellent!” he said with clear satisfaction. He opened a cabinet, took out a small card, and handed it to me. I looked at it — it was an ID card.
It read:
Name: Yan Jie Lie Xia
Age: 16
Parents: Deceased
ID Number: 123456789*****
(Note: You can’t enter the Lanwu Kingdom without an ID card.)
I frowned slightly. “Hmm… so the original owner of this card had the same name, same age, and dead parents. Father probably killed him and took his ID for me,” I thought. “Classic Father.”
“Alright,” Father said, smiling proudly. “You’ll leave tomorrow. Have a safe journey! Once you’re in Lanwu, observe how they fight. Study their military laws and strategies. Bring that knowledge back to strengthen our Orc Kingdom! Hahaha!”
“Yes, Father!” I replied solemnly.
The next day, as I prepared to set off, it suddenly started pouring rain. But I didn’t hesitate — I grabbed an umbrella and began walking.
For three days and three nights, I traveled through wind and rain, stopping only to eat. Finally, the great gates of the Lanwu Kingdom appeared before me. Carved above them were four large words: “Lanwu Human Race.”
Two generals stood guard at the gate. I walked up to them and said, “I’m a human merchant who was doing business with the Orcs. But today, I was attacked by orc bandits and had to flee back here.” Then I showed them my ID. “See? Here’s my identification.”
One of the guards sighed. “Ah, come on in. Those orcs have no mercy. But you — why would you do business with them in the first place? You should’ve stayed among your own people!”
Hearing that, even though it wasn’t true, I felt a warmth in my chest. “Humans are… actually kind,” I thought. “Maybe I really want to be one of them.”
I smiled and said, “Well, my family needs the money. If I sell human goods to the Orcs, I can double the profit. Life’s tough, you know?”
The guards nodded sympathetically and waved me in.
As soon as I stepped inside the city, I was stunned. Everywhere I looked — people looked like me! My heart pounded with excitement.
And wow — I felt tall here! Back among the Orcs, I was short, but here, I actually towered over some of them.
There was one other thing — apparently, I was very good-looking. (My mother was gorgeous when she was young, and obviously, I inherited her looks.)
Women kept sneaking glances at me, whispering and pointing, and my “turn-around rate” was ridiculously high.
As for the men… they just glared at me like I’d stolen all the attention in the world.
I smirked to myself. “Ha! In the human language, this feeling must be called — envy, jealousy, and hatred!”
I clenched my fist and thought proudly, If they only knew how strong I really am…
