Punish the Heavens and Punish the Gods - Chapter 09
After the seven girls left, every guy in the cafeteria stared at me like I’d lost my mind. They whispered among themselves,
“Did he eat a bear’s heart and a leopard’s gallbladder or something? Even the courtyard flower and our goddesses—he actually dared to provoke them! If he’s brave enough to do that, he’s brave enough to do anything. From now on, we treat him as an enemy!”
Hearing that, the corner of my mouth twitched. I walked out of the cafeteria, too annoyed to eat.
Eat a bear’s heart and a leopard’s gallbladder? I thought. Well, back in the Orc Kingdom, I actually did eat a bear man’s heart and a leopard man’s guts. That’s just normal food there.
Without realizing it, I wandered to the stables. There, my buddy Xiao Hei was lazily munching on high-quality hay, clearly well cared for. Looks like the vice dean had done a good job. I smiled, satisfied, and called out, “Xiao Hei!”
Hearing my voice, Xiao Hei turned his head, saw me, and neighed happily. I walked over, climbed onto his back, stroked his mane, and thought about what had just happened.
Jingle bell…
The afternoon class was about to start. I ran to the classroom. As soon as I walked in, I noticed several girls glaring at me like they wanted to kill me—while others looked at me with… let’s say too much interest. The guys were all staring too.
Feeling awkward, I shouted, “What are you all staring at? Haven’t you seen a person before?” Then I sat down with a huff.
My deskmate, Bingwen Binglun, sighed and said, “You, my friend, really don’t know how to appreciate beauty. You actually dared to talk back to those seven goddesses today… you’re either fearless or brainless. Sigh…”
I gave him a lazy side glance and thought, Tch. Are all the people in this class this sensitive? I just said a few harsh words—what’s the big deal?
Forget it. I’ll go see Xiao Hei after class. In this whole world, only Lu Peng and Xiao Hei are my real friends anyway.
“Alright, that’s all for today,” Teacher Lin said, a little foam at the corner of her mouth. “Students, go back to your dorms and rest. Be here by seven tomorrow morning—latecomers will be punished! Also, some people were not paying attention in class today. I expect improvement tomorrow!”
I knew that “some people” meant me.
Why is everyone always targeting me? I groaned silently. Forget it, I’ll go talk to Xiao Hei about it. He’s the only one who understands me.
I cast a Level 1 Wind Spell—Speed—and sprinted to the stables.
There was already a crowd gathered around the stable, mostly upperclassmen. Curious, I squeezed through—and what I saw made my face darken instantly.
Yan Lan was standing in front of Xiao Hei, playfully poking him with a little stick.
“Hey, little fat horse, be my mount, okay? I like you so much!” she said sweetly.
Little fat horse?!
I clenched my fists. Not only was she trying to steal my horse, but she was insulting him too! I held back my anger and kept watching.
Yan Lan reached out with her soft, delicate hand to stroke Xiao Hei’s head. Xiao Hei glared at her and let out three sharp neighs. She flinched, startled, but when he didn’t attack, she giggled.
Then—before I could stop her—she climbed onto Xiao Hei’s back.
Bad move.
Xiao Hei immediately bucked and dashed wildly around the stable yard. Since she had led him outside earlier, there was plenty of room for him to go crazy. Within seconds, Yan Lan was thrown straight off.
Not good! I thought. If she gets hurt, they’ll blame Xiao Hei—and then me!
I rushed forward and caught her mid-fall—just in time.
There I was, holding Yan Lan in my arms like a princess. She blinked up at me, cheeks turning bright red. I frowned slightly, meeting her eyes. For a moment, neither of us said a word. The air between us felt strangely… awkward.
After about two minutes, she shyly pushed herself out of my arms.
Xiao Hei, seeing me, neighed happily and trotted over.
Yan Lan looked from Xiao Hei to me, realization dawning in her eyes. She lowered her head and said softly, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know he was your horse. I really am sorry…”
I just stared at her, silent. But seeing her embarrassed, gentle face, my irritation began to fade.
“I’ll go now,” she said quietly.
I nodded. “Don’t do it again. I’ll forgive you this time.”
She smiled—an honest, lovely smile—and ran off.
Watching her leave, I couldn’t help thinking, She’s a lot gentler and more reasonable than Yan Ruo, that arrogant courtyard flower. Yan Lan doesn’t put on airs… I’ve already met her twice today. In human words, that’s called fate, right?
Then I shook my head. No, no. Coincidence. I came to the Lanwu Empire for a mission, not for romance. Still… which class is she in, anyway?
Forget it. Time to head to the dorm. I wonder who my roommates will be?
I led Xiao Hei back into the stable and locked the door with an iron padlock—no more surprises. After saying goodbye, I walked toward the dormitory at a relaxed pace.
On the way, I couldn’t help noticing again how short the people of the Lanwu race were. At Shaoyang Academy, I was definitely among the tallest ten. No wonder—three of them together wouldn’t even match one Bimon or Lion warrior.
Even though I looked human, I still carried my father’s noble lion bl00d. Still, I had to admit, while the Lanwu people weren’t as strong as orcs, their science and technology were far more advanced.
Before long, I reached the dorm building. I opened the door with my key and stretched.
There were already three people inside. I recognized them from the admission tests: Lei Yi Junxiang, Bingwen Binglun—my deskmate—and a guy named Soul Soul.
As soon as I walked in, all three of them stared at me in silence.
I frowned. “What’s with you guys? Why are you staring at me like that?”
They exchanged glances, then said in unison, “You were way too harsh to those girls at lunch. Anyone who insults beautiful women like that is our enemy!”
I gave them a bored look and said nothing. Then, without a word, I lifted my foot and unleashed the Eighteen Punches of Destruction.
