- Quick Transmigration: God of Slaughter? But He Calls Me Baby!
- Chapter 23 - Don’t Take That, Gu Sheng
Jiang En had been raised in a greenhouse—he probably didn’t know that some grudges in the world could draw bl00d.
Nor did he know there existed someone stronger than his own brother.
He wiped the dirt off his face, staring into the distance at Qian Zhou’s back.
Qian Zhou had nothing—so why could he make such a heavy promise?
“Gu Sheng.”
Qian Zhou called his name.
He hadn’t actually thought of any good plan, nor did he have the confidence to offer Gu Sheng satisfactory terms.
But the scene just now had felt strangely familiar.
The familiarity seemed to cross hundreds of years, yet it vanished in an instant as though it had never existed.
Still, Qian Zhou was certain that moment was real.
It was as if there had once been a blurred figure, crying and begging him to save their brother.
Qian Zhou thought carefully of countermeasures.
Ah, if only the system were useful.
Then he wouldn’t have to use himself as a bargaining chip.
At that moment, the long-silent voice of System 052 suddenly echoed in his head. Qian Zhou vaguely felt it had something important to say.
【System 052: Qian Xiaozhou! After my long supervision, the Main System has finally found a way to save us!】
【Qian Zhou: So your permissions are all unlocked now?】
【System 052: Ah, well, not exactly.】
【Qian Zhou: Then just go back to sleep. I’m in the middle of something critical here, everything could collapse any second.】
【System 052: No, no, listen! The Main System granted us two uses of pain-blocking. Higher-level authority! Won’t be affected by bugs!】
That really was fantastic news. Qian Zhou had been worrying he had no way to break the deadlock.
Now it was fine—even if Gu Sheng got angry and stabbed him right now, he wouldn’t be afraid!
The exchange with 052 took only two seconds. Qian Zhou immediately returned to Gu Sheng’s side.
“You promised me, didn’t you?” Qian Zhou asked him.
Gu Sheng gave a careless laugh, as though even if Jiang Huachen and the others died right before his eyes, he wouldn’t so much as blink.
Cruelty taken to the extreme.
Now that Cheng Xiao had been defeated, their fate was nothing more than a word from Gu Sheng.
“I promised you I wouldn’t take their lives.”
“Nothing more.”
Gu Sheng grabbed Qian Zhou’s wrist and pulled him in front of him, lowering his gaze to the band-aid stuck on Qian Zhou’s forehead.
He frowned slightly, carefully inspecting Qian Zhou’s face from top to bottom.
Aside from being a bit dirty, there were no other wounds.
He reached up and peeled away the band-aid, revealing a tiny cut that had already scabbed over.
Qian Zhou squinted, covering his forehead. “I don’t even know where I bumped it.”
“I did it myself.” He always instinctively added that.
Gu Sheng pinched his chin and said with displeasure, “You’re protecting them this much?”
“There really wasn’t any irreparable grudge… no need for all this killing and fighting.”
Qian Zhou still held the dagger he’d snatched from Jiang En, the blade gleaming coldly.
He glanced at it from the corner of his eye.
If Gu Sheng still refused to yield, he would have to take extreme measures.
Gu Sheng stared at him for a long time.
He lightly pinched Qian Zhou’s wrist and, with an unyielding strength, took the dagger from his hand.
Qian Zhou: “…”
It was as if Gu Sheng could always see straight through his thoughts.
With long fingers hooked through the ring at the hilt, he tossed the dagger back to a bodyguard behind him.
Then Gu Sheng grabbed Qian Zhou by the nape, lifting him like a chick and pulling him behind him.
In a voice only the two of them could hear, he warned:
“Baby, if you dare do that, I’ll lock you in a cage.”
Jiang En looked up in their direction, but all he saw was Gu Sheng saying something to Qian Zhou—he couldn’t make out the words.
Qian Zhou clutched Gu Sheng’s collar, leaning in close, hurriedly saying a string of words.
Gu Sheng looked momentarily stunned, then waved his hand at the surrounding bodyguards.
And just like that—they were released.
When Jiang En looked again, Qian Zhou had already been taken away by Gu Sheng.
No one knew what Qian Zhou had agreed to.
But Gu Sheng had let them all go.
He didn’t even pursue Cheng Xiao’s part any further.
Gu Sheng brought Qian Zhou into a car—a black SUV with a partition between the front and back seats.
The rear windows were covered with black privacy film, making it impossible to see inside from the outside.
Since earlier, Qian Zhou’s expression had been a little unnatural.
The bodyguard shut the car door, and the four black SUVs set off quickly toward the city.
“Gu… Gu Sheng…”
“When we get back we can… mmph…”
The boy was pushed into the corner, his shoulders trembling.
Gu Sheng’s eyes were dark, desire burning openly within them.
“Do you remember what you promised me?”
Qian Zhou stammered, “Y-yes, I remember, but I… I’m not ready yet!”
Gu Sheng’s fingers pressed into his soft hair. “What are you afraid of?”
“J-just… afraid.” Qian Zhou forced himself to steady his nerves.
He braced a hand against Gu Sheng’s shoulder.
Seeing the smile fade from his face.
Gu Sheng released him, suddenly sitting on the opposite side, as far as he could get.
As if Qian Zhou were the one in control of the situation.
Gu Sheng propped his chin, staring out the window, brow furrowed, eyes closing as he rubbed his temples with his thumb.
He was silent for a long time.
The veins on his arm stood out slightly, his palm gripping the door handle with force.
He suddenly seemed very agitated.
“Do you know what I want to do right now?” His tone was completely different from before.
Qian Zhou keenly sensed something wrong. He leaned closer and held Gu Sheng’s hand. “Are you in pain again?”
Gu Sheng didn’t answer, but continued from his earlier words: “I want to wrap this rope around your neck and strangle you until you beg for mercy.”
“If you ever dare mention anyone other than me again, I’ll take you right here and now.”
An angry Gu Sheng was terrifying.
But this Gu Sheng seemed more like a drowning man, overwhelmed by his own emotions, something behind his eyes struggling to break free of its cage.
Without the medicine to calm him, he was easily driven to destruction.
Gu Sheng covered his eyes and shoved Qian Zhou away.
“…Don’t come so close.”
“I really might kill you.”
He took a deep breath, pulling out a bottle from the seat compartment.
Inside were half-nail-sized yellow capsules. He poured them into his palm until only a few remained in the bottle.
No medicine should ever be taken in such quantity.
Those yellow capsules had no label, and the powder within was unlike anything Qian Zhou had ever seen.
Qian Zhou clutched Gu Sheng’s arm. “We’ll be home soon.”
“Gu Sheng, don’t take those, okay?”
He coaxed him softly, his voice as gentle as he could make it.
Gu Sheng suddenly crushed him into his arms.
The capsules scattered all over the car seat.
Gu Sheng buried his head into Qian Zhou’s neck.
He opened his mouth—and bit down, hard, holding himself back.
