- Quick Transmigration: God of Slaughter? But He Calls Me Baby!
- Chapter 36 - Balance Change
Qianzhou could tell that Jiang En was genuinely happy, bouncing along as he walked and even humming a tune.
Every so often, he would look back to talk to Qianzhou. If it weren’t for the two stoic bodyguards behind them, Qianzhou might have shared the same good mood.
Those two hulking bodyguards made it impossible to fully enjoy themselves.
Every time they passed through crowded areas, people instinctively avoided them.
Jiang En quickly noticed Qianzhou’s thoughts. He patted the two bodyguards on the arms. “Give us some space. Don’t follow so tightly.”
The bodyguards exchanged glances. “Understood, Young Master.”
The fourth deck of the cruise had many gift shops, and the one Jiang En wanted was on this floor. He scanned the signs one by one.
“This is it.”
The gift shop was large. Qianzhou grabbed a cart and followed Jiang En.
When they reached the section with the summer-limited pink oiiai cat plushies, Jiang En’s happiness was visible to the naked eye.
He emptied the shelves, nearly twenty plushies filling the entire cart.
“Six go in the display cabinet, the rest in the room and study. Perfect.”
On the way to checkout, Jiang En picked up a few smaller items he liked—a keychain, a car ornament, and a gift hourglass.
The receipt was half a meter long, filling four shopping bags. Jiang En slipped the receipt into one of them.
He glanced at the hidden bodyguards in the crowd. They gave him an “OK” hand gesture in return.
The cruise had over forty restaurants, including free buffets and many high-end paid restaurants, covering more than a dozen of the world’s most popular cuisines.
“There’s a jewelry store here too. Let’s check it out.”
Qianzhou followed Jiang En into the store. The interior was minimalist and elegant, the best location on this floor.
He wasn’t as interested in shopping as Jiang En. After all, nothing could be taken out of the small world when it ended, so most of his spending was on food.
Jewelry didn’t hold much appeal.
Jiang En circled the store and focused on a high-end aquamarine pendant.
He examined it closely at the counter, appreciating the intricate patterns. The more he looked, the more he liked it.
Finally, he swiped his card for over half a million. After the staff packaged it, he followed Qianzhou out of the store.
Jiang En reached Qianzhou and moved in front of him.
“Hm?” Qianzhou paused.
Jiang En tilted his head to the left and spoke quietly. “Hm… this is for you…”
Qianzhou didn’t catch it. “What did you say?”
Jiang En placed the box containing the aquamarine pendant into Qianzhou’s hands. “…It’s a gift for you.”
Qianzhou was taken aback.
The box felt heavy. Jiang En stammered, “I… I bought it with my own money… It’s a gift for you. Please keep it safe…”
Qianzhou looked at the box and gently slipped it into his pocket. “Thank you, Jiang En.”
“I… I rarely give gifts to anyone,” Jiang En said, blushing and fidgeting with his clothes.
Qianzhou took out the pendant and hung it on his waistband. The deep blue became a striking accent, noticeable but not out of place.
As he did, Jiang En looked away, unable to suppress a smile.
If he had a little tail, it would probably have wagged by now.
Qianzhou also wanted to buy something for Jiang En, but…
He checked his phone and looked at his balance.
Only ¥5,368.4.
He should have asked Gu Sheng for some money… Otherwise, with spending on the cruise, he might not even afford meals in a few days.
As they wandered, they eventually reached the central atrium on the first deck, where a crowd had gathered.
Qianzhou looked up. A raised platform had been set up. Jiang En tugged his arm.
“It’s a Biebert art auction! Look, Biebert is right there… Hey, he seems to be looking at us.”
Qianzhou instinctively felt wary of that name. Gu Sheng had specifically warned him about this person.
Biebert was a psychological deviant.
If he drew Gu Sheng’s attention, he had to be dangerous.
Now, in the cruise’s grand hall, a gaze that could not be ignored was fixed on them.
Specifically, on him.
Biebert’s eyes cut through thousands of people, landing squarely on Qianzhou!
That gaze was eerily focused, as if the entire hall had vanished, leaving only the two of them, and all the surrounding noise was muted.
Biebert held a glass of wine. His long golden hair tied back, black coat flowing like a dark river at night—elegant, yet carrying a hint of intimate incongruity.
Qianzhou frowned slightly, remaining calm, and moved Jiang En behind him.
The audience consisted mostly of the wealthy and influential. This was an exclusive event; only ten percent of tickets were sold externally.
The rest were collaborators invited from around the world to test the new rules, all influential figures.
As the overall director, Biebert had absolute authority.
Even before unveiling his work, the crowd was ready to spend fortunes.
Yet Biebert seemed uninterested. But as soon as Qianzhou appeared, his demeanor changed.
In front of all eyes, he lifted his wine glass toward Qianzhou, a cold, arrogant smile on his lips.
“I feel a bit uncomfortable…” Jiang En grabbed Qianzhou’s sleeve, pressing his lips tightly together.
The freedom and joy of the cruise suddenly felt like an invisible cage, separating him and Qianzhou.
“….” Qianzhou had no choice but to nod slightly at Biebert in acknowledgment.
Too many people were watching them.
Envy, suspicion, jealousy, contempt, admiration—every emotion was present.
Qianzhou only wanted to enjoy a vacation with Jiang En. His balance was barely over five thousand, and he didn’t want to get dragged into any pointless competition.
Especially with Jiang En by his side.
He had already been startled by Gu Sheng before. How could he be pulled into another wave of chaos?
Qianzhou held Jiang En’s wrist tightly.
The aquamarine pendant gently tapped against his waist as he moved.
After handling missions solo before, this time—even if Biebert had designs—he could handle it—
Ding ding.
His phone vibrated. Qianzhou looked up at the blond man on the platform. Biebert was now talking with someone behind him and no longer paying attention.
Qianzhou pulled out his phone. It was a bank balance change notification:
Your account balance has changed from ¥5,368.4 to ¥200,005,368.4.
The phone vibrated again, this time with a message from Gu Sheng at the top of the screen:
“If it’s not enough, just say so.”
“Don’t worry. I’m their largest shareholder.”
Qianzhou’s fingers paused. He typed: “Did you see it?”
Gu Sheng replied almost immediately:
“Yes.”
