- Quick Transmigration: God of Slaughter? But He Calls Me Baby!
- Chapter 43 - I Really Don’t Have the Strength Anymore, Let Go
Miles’ jaw creaked as he ground his teeth. His eyes were bloodshot, his forehead and nose dripping with messy sweat.
“I’ll kill him… right in front of you…”
“You ruined my career… and I lost my hand…”
“All of this is thanks to you. You should have seen this coming…”
Click.
The gun was loaded.
Qian Zhou opened his mouth slightly. Miles’ back was pressed against the cruise ship’s railing, behind them the roaring, crashing waves.
The sunlight hit directly on this side, forcing Qian Zhou to squint, unable to clearly see Gu Sheng’s expression.
Miles looked like he was crying. The sound was harsh, and his words were nothing but venom and curses.
Bang!
Qian Zhou shut his eyes, then opened them again.
The world before him seemed covered in gauze, hazy and blurred.
What was happening to him?
The once-warm sea breeze felt cold. His ears rang, and his vision was failing.
As the security guards advanced with riot shields, Qian Zhou lifted his hand and touched his shoulder lightly.
The touch came away hot and sticky. His fingertips were coated in bl00d.
“Don’t come any closer!! One more step and the next bullet goes straight through his head!”
Miles’ mental defenses were on the verge of collapse. He glared at Gu Sheng with wild hatred, but Gu Sheng showed neither anguish nor regret as Miles had expected.
He only frowned deeply, his face unreadable.
Bibert had just arrived, stepping to Gu Sheng’s side. “Why don’t you look more worried? I thought you were head over heels for him. What’s this—lost interest already? Found yourself a new pretty thing?”
Gu Sheng’s expression darkened at Bibert’s presumptuous tone. “Say one more word, and you won’t meet a good end.”
Bibert raised both hands in mock surrender. “Alright, not a word.”
Jiang En stumbled out of the elevator, only to be restrained by guards.
When he saw the bloody hole in Qian Zhou’s shoulder, tears streamed down his face. “Why aren’t you shooting already?!”
“Can’t you see he’s hurt?! Why give him another chance?!”
Pinned back by the guards, Jiang En could do nothing but watch Qian Zhou in danger. He wiped his tears with his sleeve and lunged at Gu Sheng, grabbing his clothes.
“Save him! Isn’t Qian Zhou the one you raised? Why aren’t you saving him?!”
Gu Sheng caught his wrist with one hand. “Not yet.”
“Then when?! Can’t you see how much bl00d he’s losing?!” Jiang En sobbed so hard he could hardly breathe.
“Gu Sheng, you bastard!!” He pounded Gu Sheng with his fists until the bodyguards dragged him away.
Overwhelmed by grief, Jiang En shouted, “Qian Zhou still defended you! He always protected you!”
Gu Sheng’s fingers curled slightly. After a pause, his voice was cold. “Take him away.”
The guards ignored Jiang En’s struggles and forced him behind the security line.
Jiang En sat helplessly on the ground. Glancing up, he caught sight of two familiar figures and quickly wiped his tears.
Jiang Huachen was dragging Cheng Xiao as they rushed over.
“Ge—!” Jiang En collapsed into his brother’s arms.
“There, there…” Jiang Huachen stroked his head. “Don’t be afraid. I already know the situation. Miles is unstable, but the snipers have been deployed.”
Cheng Xiao handed him tissues for his tears and nose. “Someone pulled strings to bypass the approval process. The snipers are probably already locked on.”
Jiang En froze, staring at Gu Sheng’s position in shock.
Cheng Xiao pinched his nose, sighing. “Why is your brain so much slower than your brother’s?”
“Miles just wants to make Gu Sheng suffer. At a time like this, Gu Sheng can’t show any emotion.”
After talking to the guards, Cheng Xiao stepped back. Jiang Huachen quickly pulled Jiang En behind the security line again.
Sweaty palms, Jiang En clung to his brother’s arm, craning his neck to see.
Miles pressed trembling fingers to the trigger, then loosened again, shouting, “Gu Sheng… how can you be so calm?!”
“Isn’t he the one you raised?”
“You’re not even afraid he’ll die in my hands?!”
Gu Sheng tapped the shield in front of him. “Move.”
The guards opened a narrow path. Gu Sheng walked forward slowly.
“There’s nothing to care about. Lose this one, I can raise another.”
He turned slightly, the sea wind at his back, lighting a cigarette.
“Let him go. You might still get a reduced sentence.”
His voice was flat, without emotion.
But the hand holding the cigarette trembled.
Miles gave a twisted laugh. “You’re lying… You must be lying!”
The commander gestured to Gu Sheng—the sniper was in position.
Qian Zhou no longer felt pain. He had already used his final pain shield.
But his body had been pushed past its limits. His muscles were like waterlogged cotton, utterly powerless.
The bl00d wouldn’t stop. His vision was almost gone.
Above Miles’ head, a red dot glowed—he didn’t notice.
Pei Fangyu finally arrived, shoving through the crowd. The parrot on his shoulder suddenly took off, diving at Miles.
Miles pulled the trigger.
Bang! Bang!
Two shots, one near, one far.
“Ah—!” The parrot shrieked, crashing down on Qian Zhou, wings hanging broken.
Miles’ arm had been clawed. The bullet missed Qian Zhou’s temple.
But a sniper’s bullet pierced Miles’ skull.
The heavy body jerked back from the force, still clutching Qian Zhou, before toppling over the railing.
“Qian Zhou!!”
Gu Sheng’s heart wrenched. He lunged forward, grabbing Qian Zhou’s hand.
But there was too much bl00d. Slippery and slick between their fingers, Gu Sheng couldn’t hold on.
“I really don’t have the strength anymore… Let go, Gu Sheng…”
Qian Zhou’s voice was faint, but Gu Sheng heard it clearly.
Blue veins bulged on Gu Sheng’s forehead as he clung desperately to his fingers.
But in less than two seconds, Qian Zhou slipped free.
Gu Sheng watched helplessly as he plunged into the sea with a splash.
“Gu Sheng! What are you doing?!” Jiang Huachen shouted.
Gu Sheng stepped onto the railing—then jumped straight down.
Jiang Huachen and Cheng Xiao leaned over the edge, staring at the surging waves below. The two figures were gone.
Jiang En covered his mouth. “Qian Zhou…”
Pei Fangyu collapsed to the ground, craning his neck to peer down.
“…There’s no way they survive this.”
