Chapter 12: Saving the Green Tea Supporting Role in the Dating Show World (12)
Two people stood on the balcony, leaning against the railing, drinking coffee, and feeling the evening breeze. Their hair fluttered in the wind, and Song Lingshu tied her hair up.
Guan Yue watched her every move. Song Lingshu’s slender arms lifted, revealing her fair neck. The night breeze carried a faint fragrance, which was the perfume on her neck. Thousands of hair strands slipped through her fingers, but one strand escaped and casually fell by her cheek.
Guan Yue uncomfortably shifted her gaze away and took a big sip of coffee.
A noise came from downstairs. Song Lingshu leaned over the railing to look down and saw Aya and Zheng Haonan walking on the grass. They were too far away, so she couldn’t hear what they said.
Guan Yue noticed her curious expression and asked, “Do you still like Zheng Haonan?”
“I wrote a letter to him tonight,” Song Lingshu admitted frankly.
Guan Yue nearly choked on her coffee and gave her a deep look. She felt uneasy inside, wanting to wake her up but feeling she no longer had the standing as a friend to say it.
Before, she could view the issue as an outsider and tell her not to chase a hopeless love. But now, she couldn’t do that. She couldn’t selflessly tell her to stop liking Zheng Haonan and like someone else instead.
But like who?
She couldn’t say it aloud and didn’t want to influence the other’s feelings.
Then, Song Lingshu spoke again, “Guess what I wrote to him?”
Guan Yue slowly looked at her, “What?”
“I told him I don’t like him anymore,” Song Lingshu said with a smile.
Although she could have brushed off this side task like before, Song Lingshu completed it honestly. She wanted to solemnly tell Zheng Haonan those words and completely cut off the emotional line between Yu Qin and Zheng Haonan.
Yu Qin’s suicide had more than one cause, but the biggest reason was this unrequited love. It pushed her to the center of criticism, where everyone’s words were like weapons, forcing her step by step toward the rooftop.
Now, it was time to cut that line and stay away from the male lead for safety!
“Really?” Guan Yue asked.
“Yes!”
A smile flashed in Guan Yue’s eyes, and she instinctively asked, “Why don’t you like him anymore?”
“Well… you figure out the reason yourself,” Song Lingshu said with a sly smile.
Laughter came from downstairs. Yu Che and Chen Yueming sat in the courtyard, starting to drink.
These two disappointed men had been ditched by the women during the day. They only went to the bathroom, but when they came out, the women were gone. When they returned in the evening, they learned the women had already eaten and gone to rest. After checking the mailbox, Chen Yueming was even sadder because Yu Qin still hadn’t written him a letter.
Yu Che looked up, spotted the two women, and shouted, “Come down to drink?”
“No, I’m getting ready to sleep. I have to wake up early tomorrow to go out,” Song Lingshu replied, waved, and went back to her room to prepare for bed.
Guan Yue didn’t go downstairs either and went to her room, entering the bathroom.
The window next door opened, and the fourth female guest shouted, “I’ll drink!” In terms of disappointment, she was the most disappointed today!
In the bathroom, Guan Yue carefully unfolded a letter and read it closely.
—Today was another happy day. Thank you for shopping with me. Next time, I’ll go shopping with you! Also, stay happy. Commander Guan is an amazing person!!!
Guan Yue looked at the exclamation marks and could already imagine the other’s expression while saying this. She smiled, carefully folded the letter, and stored it safely.
The next morning, Song Lingshu woke up early. This time, she was going to Yu Qin’s father’s house.
After saying she was sick last time, her father never visited the hospital. He only said afterward that his wife had fallen and injured herself on the stairs, so he couldn’t come.
Since she had time today, she decided to visit them herself. She kindly bought a box of Wangzai milk and carried it to the fourth floor.
The person who opened the door was her half-sister, who was already in middle school. At a rebellious age, she didn’t like talking to adults. She wore makeup, and her hair was dyed blonde. When she saw Song Lingshu, she only said, “Dad, Mom, Yu Qin is here,” then went back to her room to scroll through Douyin.
“Qin Qin, you’re here? You didn’t need to bring anything,” Yu Zheng Hu said with a smile as he took the items from her. When he saw the Wangzai milk, his smile froze, “Wangzai is good. Your aunt and sister both like it.”
“That’s good. I almost bought Wahaha instead,” Song Lingshu said.
Yu Zheng Hu gave an awkward laugh and called his wife out.
“Oh, Qin Qin, you’re here. Have you eaten breakfast?” Yu Fang came out with a big smile.
“I’ve eaten. I came to check on your leg,” Song Lingshu glanced at the Band-Aid on her leg, “I was afraid if I didn’t come, your injury would already be healed.”
Yu Fang: “…”
“Your aunt is tough. She recovers quickly. When she fell last time, she hit her head too and felt dizzy, so she couldn’t walk. She’s finally better these past few days,” Yu Zheng Hu explained awkwardly.
Yu Fang glared at him. If not for Yu Qin’s living expenses, she wouldn’t admit to being tough.
“We’re about to eat. Stay and have some food,” Yu Fang said.
“Sure.”
Yu Fang hurried to prepare breakfast, secretly signaling to Yu Zheng Hu. He sat down to keep Song Lingshu company and said, “Qin Qin, here’s the thing. Your sister is about to enter ninth grade, but her grades aren’t good. Can you tutor her?”
“No problem,” Song Lingshu agreed immediately.
Yu Zheng Hu sighed in relief, about to speak, but saw her open a calculator and say, “Since she’s my sister, I’ll give an 88% discount. One lesson costs 176.”
“Why do you need to charge?”
“That’s the market price. How about I round it down to 175?”
Yu Zheng Hu was shocked, “Rounding down is just one yuan?”
“Don’t want me to round it? Then it’s still 176.”
“No, no, I mean, we’re family. Can we not talk about money? Your sister needs to get into high school, and you’re a teacher. When she gets into a good university and finds a good job, she’ll definitely repay you. Family should help each other.”
“Since you put it that way, I’ll be honest,” Song Lingshu’s eyes reddened, her acting skills kicking in, “I came back this time to borrow money. I invested in stocks recently and lost everything. I’m stuck and owe credit card debt. Can you lend me some money?”
“How did this happen?” Yu Zheng Hu asked in shock, “Didn’t you make good money from that show?”
“That money won’t come in for a while. The payment process is long, and I can’t pay my credit card in a few days,” Song Lingshu said tearfully.
“How much do you owe?”
“One hundred thousand.”
Yu Zheng Hu gasped, “That’s too much. I can’t get that much right now. Let me discuss it with your aunt.”
Moments later, the sound of cooking in the kitchen grew louder. Yu Fang was practically smashing the pan.
Song Lingshu pretended not to hear their hushed argument, lowered her head, and checked a message from Guan Yue.
Guan Yue: [Where are you? Didn’t you say you’d go shopping with me? Are you free today?]
Song Lingshu: [Yes!]
Guan Yue: [Should I come find you?]
Song Lingshu sent her the address. By the time Guan Yue arrived, things here should be about done.
When breakfast was served, Yu Fang’s face remained sour. She knocked on her daughter’s door, but after one knock, she started yelling, “You little debt collector, come out! We raised you with so much effort, and you don’t contribute anything to the family. Now you want me to pay for you?”
Song Lingshu ate a bun, which didn’t taste great, and pretended to tremble, as if startled, “Is Aunt scolding me?”
“No, no, don’t overthink,” Yu Zheng Hu tried to calm her, mediating between the two.
Yu Fang’s daughter opened the door and yelled back, “So annoying! You’re just obsessed with money. Fine, I won’t study. I’ll go work in a factory and screw bolts for you! Damn it!”
“What did you say, you ungrateful brat?”
The house erupted into chaos. Song Lingshu sighed, stood up, and said goodbye, “Dad, I’ll head back now. I’ll visit again next month.”
Yu Zheng Hu choked, thinking to himself, please don’t come next month.
As Song Lingshu walked out of the neighborhood, a car stopped in front of her. The window rolled down, and Guan Yue took off her sunglasses, “What’s wrong? Who bullied you?”
Song Lingshu walked up to her, glanced at the side mirror, and saw tears still on her face, making her look like a pitiful beauty.
“I’m hurt. Commander Guan needs to blow on it to make it better,” she said, leaning her face toward her.
Guan Yue: “…”
Song Lingshu looked at her leisurely, thinking, why act so cool when your heart rate is skyrocketing in my mind?
A moment later, Guan Yue stiffly blew on her face, “All better?”
“All good!” Song Lingshu bounced back to life, excitedly running to the passenger seat. As she poked her head in, she saw a cameraman in the back seat with a big, black camera!
“…Oh my!” Song Lingshu screamed, hitting her head on the car roof.
Why didn’t anyone tell her the cameraman was here too?
