Chapter 3: Saving the Green Tea Female Supporting Role in the Dating Show World (3)
“It’s almost bedtime, why are you changing into a dress?” Guan Yue asked, pretending to be calm.
“Oh, I brought it but haven’t worn it yet, so I’m trying it on to see if it fits.” Song Lingshu smiled lightly, her long hair swaying as she turned. “What do you think, does it look good?”
Guan Yue said calmly, “It looks good.”
“You’re such a good person. This dress is just okay, and you’re still praising it.”
“…” I was just being polite, wasn’t I?
“Well, it’s normal. We have different styles.” Song Lingshu smiled, turning back to the bathroom to change.
There were no cameras in the bathroom, so she could use the system’s one-click outfit change function: [Hey, it really is like a miracle fashion game. Fun.]
[System: …] There’s no explaining this.
Back in the room, Guan Yue started reading the letter:
Commander Guan, you’re such a great person. Let’s play chess again! ^_^
“…” Guan Yue’s lips curved slightly. She folded the letter and placed it on the table. When Song Lingshu came out, she asked, “I read your letter. Why did you write to me?”
It wasn’t against the show’s rules, but it was an unexpected move. Wasn’t she into Zheng Haonan?
The production team didn’t stop it, probably hoping for this kind of plot twist.
Guan Yue could already imagine how lively the internet would be when this aired.
“Because you’re a good person and deserve a letter.” Song Lingshu put on a face mask and leaned down to look at her as she passed by.
Their eyes met, and Guan Yue found the scene a bit strange. If Song Lingshu didn’t have a white mask on her face, it might’ve been somewhat beautiful.
“Since neither of us got any letters, let’s form a mutual help group,” Song Lingshu said.
“Huh? Help with what?” Guan Yue thought she meant help with flirting and was about to refuse, but Song Lingshu said, “You teach me how to run a company, and I’ll teach you…”
She almost said acting, her old trade, but remembered she was Yu Qin and corrected herself, “I’ll teach you advanced math!”
Guan Yue: “…Are you crazy, or am I? Why would you want to learn to run a company, and why would I need to learn advanced math?”
“Because… learning is endless!” Song Lingshu loved picking up skills from experts in various fields. She didn’t like being idle and always found things to do to pass the time.
Guan Yue: “…”
“Then how about teaching me to ride a motorcycle?” Song Lingshu looked at her eagerly. “Please~”
Guan Yue: “…”
In the end, Guan Yue didn’t agree. She was already swamped with company matters and now recording this dating show for marketing, leaving no time for such things.
Song Lingshu didn’t press her for an immediate answer, treating it as a suggestion, and soon fell asleep.
The next day was Monday, and everyone had work to attend to. Female 1, a freelancer, stayed at the villa all day. Zheng Haonan, a bona fide rich second-generation, also lingered, giving them plenty of alone time.
In the past, Yu Qin, who studied at the same school abroad as Zheng Haonan and got help from him with her luggage when she arrived, had a crush on him. Unaware of awkwardness, she often interrupted the main couple’s intimate moments, earning her harsh criticism from viewers.
But today, Yu Qin didn’t return to the villa all day, instead teaching and slacking off at school.
She taught advanced math.
All of the original host’s memories, including her knowledge, were in Song Lingshu’s mind.
As an actress, Song Lingshu absorbed things quickly, naturally embracing this sudden influx of knowledge, feeling like she’d gained a fortune in mental wealth.
What a steal.
Yu Qin was actually quite beautiful, but her low emotional intelligence made her an easy target for criticism. Plus, she didn’t know how to dress—her wardrobe was full of outdated shirts and tight jeans, paired with standard long, straight black hair and heavy black-framed glasses. Her academic vibe was too strong, and even her students found her classes boring, seeing her as a nerd.
She had a class at ten, but left at eight, driving to a nearby mall to buy a new outfit.
She couldn’t lose her actress flair!
At ten, Song Lingshu appeared at the lecture hall’s entrance. The noisy classroom fell silent for a moment, students staring in surprise.
A voice from the back called out, “Hey, beauty, who’re you looking for?”
Song Lingshu smiled, walked to the podium, and set down her laptop. “Roll call in ten minutes. Notify your roommates if needed. Anyone late won’t pass this semester.”
“Teacher Yu?!” a student in the front gasped, and the room erupted.
Their usually stern teacher still wore a shirt but paired it with a long skirt, revealing slender calves. High heels perfected her proportions. Her hair was styled in loose waves, glasses swapped for contacts, and subtle makeup highlighted her delicate eyes. She looked like a different person, absolutely stunning.
“Eight minutes left,” Song Lingshu said calmly, opening her slides.
Students frantically texted their roommates to come to class.
[Get to class! Ding Minjun turned into Zhou Zhiruo today! You’ll regret missing this!!!]
[What’s going on?]
[Just come, you’ll see!!!]
Minutes later, students slipped in through the back door. Song Lingshu lectured while smiling at them. “Everyone here? Let’s start roll call.”
Almost everyone was present, except one—Yu Sheng.
Song Lingshu’s eyes darkened.
Yu Sheng, Yu Qin’s student, was the final straw that broke her.
She marked an X on the attendance sheet and asked, “Where’s Yu Sheng?”
“He’s sick and hospitalized,” his roommate answered.
Song Lingshu gave a knowing smile and nodded thoughtfully. “Alright, I’ll visit him when I have time. You’re his classmates; you should visit too.”
After class, she ate lunch with colleagues at the cafeteria. They knew she was on the dating show and probed for gossip, but she brushed them off, citing confidentiality.
After another big class in the afternoon, her teaching was done. She sat in her office, slacking off—
Playing Spider Solitaire.
A student dropping off homework saw and was shocked. “Teacher Yu, you play this?”
“Why not?” Song Lingshu said. As a kid in computer class, when PCs were new, Solitaire, Minesweeper, and Frogger were her favorite games.
“It’s fine, just… Can I take a picture?”
“For what?”
“To post on Moments,” the student asked timidly. “Is that okay?”
“Sure, go ahead. Use a filter.”
The student planned to snap just the game and her back, but Song Lingshu smiled at the camera. The student took a quick shot and was stunned by the result—so beautiful! Perfect angles!
She couldn’t tell if it was her photography skills or the teacher’s natural camera presence.
Half an hour later, Yu Qin went viral on the school forum.
—Unveiling the Most Beautiful Teacher Sealed by Glasses!
—Breaking News! She’s playing Solitaire in her office! A casual shot looks this good—she’s a real goddess!
—She looked good on the show too. Maybe the crew did her makeup today?
—She wore glasses on the show, okay? I thought she looked plain because she didn’t get along with the makeup artist.
—Help, isn’t she the green tea girl?
—Watch your words. Her professional skills are solid. Stop spreading rumors.
—The internet’s tearing her apart, saying she’s low-EQ and super green tea. I watched the clips, and yeah, it’s kind of… ehh…
—Clips are scripted! Honestly, Teacher Yu’s classes are great. I don’t believe she’s green tea. Stop the rumors.
It was getting late, and Song Lingshu had to return to the villa for filming. Leaving the office building, she glanced at the rooftop. Spotting a security guard, she called out, “Hey, the rooftop door isn’t locked. You should keep an eye on it.”
“I lock it usually, but some students pick the lock to sneak up there,” the guard said helplessly.
“Then you better watch out for me.”
“?”
“I might pick the lock someday.”
“…”
Yu Qin had jumped from that rooftop. Song Lingshu wasn’t sure when her task would end or how things would unfold, but just in case, she added, “Get a new lock to avoid trouble.”
The guard gave her an odd look as she left, then decided to replace the lock to avoid issues with school leadership.
Back at the villa, the main couple was cooking dinner in the kitchen. As Song Lingshu approached, she noticed a camera zooming in to capture her expression.
Unfazed, she grabbed a yogurt from the fridge and sipped it calmly.
“Wow, Yu Qin, you look so pretty today,” said the female lead, busy preparing dinner for everyone.
“Thanks, you look great too. Need help?” Song Lingshu asked.
“No need, you’ve worked all day. Rest up. We’re having hotpot tonight; it’ll be ready soon,” the female lead said.
“Thanks for your hard work.” Song Lingshu smiled.
Guan Yue returned then, spotting Yu Qin in the kitchen playing third wheel with a new hairstyle. “Yu Qin,” she called.
“Commander Guan, you’re back.” Song Lingshu grabbed a cola from the fridge, frowning. “Why’s it all Coke? No Pepsi?”
Zheng Haonan casually asked, “What’s the issue?”
“Commander Guan loves Pepsi,” Song Lingshu said.
All three paused. Guan Yue coughed, pulled her aside, and whispered, “How do you know that?”
“Didn’t I tell you? I’m your twin—”
“You think I’d believe that?” Guan Yue cut her off.
“Fine, the truth is…” Song Lingshu covered her mouth and whispered, “I’m a half-immortal, training in the mortal world. I’ll ascend soon, so my predictions are spot-on.”
Guan Yue gave her a side-eye, poking her forehead. “You really think I’m that gullible?”
Song Lingshu clutched her forehead, laughing. “Okay, fine. I just like you a lot, so I paid extra attention.”
From the start, when she received the novel’s setup, Song Lingshu liked Guan Yue’s character. Who wouldn’t love a clear-headed, independent rich lady? (^▽^)
Plus, sharing a room meant more interaction than with others. Thinking such a great character was just a sidekick made Song Lingshu want to show her more appreciation.
And there was a bigger reason—her best friend in her old life only drank Pepsi too.
“You just said… like what?” Guan Yue froze.
“I like you,” Song Lingshu said with a playful smile, making a heart with her fingers.
Guan Yue blinked, staring at her for a moment. As Song Lingshu’s smile grew sweeter, she hurriedly looked away, heart racing, thinking: Is this a confession?
