Chapter 9: Saving the Green Tea Female Supporting Character in the Romance Reality Show World (9)
That night, a new episode of the show aired, with ratings and discussions reaching a new peak, mostly centered on Yu Qin, who’d changed the most, and her unlucky roommate.
[Here we go! Let’s see if Yu Qin’s really a green tea!]
[Another great day to ship CPs!]
[I eat Male Lead 1 and Female Lead 1’s candy every episode, but now I want something different, like Yu Qin and Guan Yue, hehehe!]
[Oh my, oh my, Commander Guan~ Such a unique nickname!]
[Am I the only one sensing Chen Yueming’s defecting? Is he gonna write to Yu Qin?]
[Is it just me, or is something off? The way Yu Qin looks at Guan Yue is so intense!]
[Wow, Guan Yue riding a motorcycle is so cool. The person in the back with hair flying everywhere cracked me up. That gangster BGM is perfect, hahaha!]
[Getting fined is too real, hahahaha!]
[Whoa, Guan Yue’s company is so awesome! I wanna work there!]
[I’ve bought clothes from this brand! It’s Guan Yue’s?! AHHHH!]
[Help, that hug from Yu Qin just now made my heart skip!]
[Cameraman, are you serious? I’m dizzy from all that spinning!]
[So sweet, I’m dying, wuwuwu!]
[I’m just casually shipping~]
[Long live “YueQin”! Girls with girls are the best!]
The next day was Saturday, so no one had work. Everyone got up early to get ready for the day’s date task.
Seeing her roommate endlessly changing outfits, Guan Yue said, “You look excited.”
“I’m just trying on clothes.” Song Lingshu went through every piece of Yu Qin’s wardrobe, confirming none matched her taste. She’d have to replace the closet when she got the chance!
In the end, she picked a white spaghetti-strap dress, clean and gentle, showing off her pretty collarbone and slender arms.
Guan Yue didn’t buy that she wasn’t excited. Why else would she spend so much time picking clothes and doing such elaborate makeup?
“I actually prefer the clothes from your studio. That piece I chose last time—when are you giving it to me?” Song Lingshu asked while touching up her lipstick.
“I don’t have it in stock. It’s being shipped from the warehouse.” The other five guests’ clothes were in stock, but since hers was missing, Guan Yue hadn’t given them out yet.
Once ready, the female guests headed to the show’s designated date meeting spot.
Song Lingshu stood by the roadside, watching cars pass, the camera circling her.
Time ticked by. After standing for half an hour, she finally saw a male guest approach from across the street—Chen Yueming, the third male lead.
Chen Yueming, the artsy type, held a bouquet of baby’s breath. As they met, he smiled and handed her the flowers. “Didn’t expect it’d be you.”
“You guessed it was me?” Song Lingshu politely took the flowers.
“You and Guan Yue wrote names on your postcards,” Chen Yueming said.
“Right, I wrote Guan Yue’s name.” Song Lingshu was even more curious.
“Yeah, Yu Che thought the one with your name was yours, so he’s probably with Guan Yue now.” Chen Yueming’s first instinct was to grab the postcard with Yu Qin’s name, but Yu Che beat him to it. So, he took a chance on this one and got lucky.
Chen Yueming’s curiosity about Aya paled compared to his interest in Yu Qin. Her once bitter demeanor had turned bright and cute after romantic setbacks, yet her occasional mature moments were oddly captivating.
He’d been paying close attention to her lately, eager to understand who she really was.
“Wanna catch a movie?” Chen Yueming suggested, picking a shared interest.
“Sure.”
They headed to a nearby mall’s cinema, but the recent releases were mediocre. Chen Yueming picked a relatively popular film.
The theater wasn’t too crowded. Sitting in the middle, Chen Yueming didn’t want to disturb others, so he watched quietly. But the more he watched, the sleepier he got. He sneaked a glance at Yu Qin, who seemed engrossed, and wondered if the movie was that good.
He perked up and focused on the screen, repeating this cycle until the film ended. He thought Yu Qin was no ordinary person—her artistic taste was impressive, unlike his own.
In reality, if he’d observed closely, he’d have noticed her blinking slowly and her posture unchanged.
Because Song Lingshu was in her mind, using the system as a projector to watch a thrilling 5D movie!
As the theater lights came on, she snapped back, still faintly excited.
“Was it good?” Chen Yueming asked casually.
“Amazing! Especially the fight scenes—so epic!”
“?”
It was a romance film. What fight scenes? Was she talking about the leads “fighting” with their lips?
After leaving the theater, Chen Yueming asked what she wanted to do next.
Aside from acting, Song Lingshu had no real dating experience. Her excitement last night was just about trying a real date.
But now, it seemed kind of boring—just movies, food, and shopping.
Still, she didn’t say “whatever.” Instead, she asked, “What do you wanna do?”
Now Chen Yueming was stumped. “Whatever.”
“Then let’s just wander.” It felt like she was steering the date, acting considerate and mature.
It was hot outside, so they strolled through the mall, chatting casually. Suddenly, Song Lingshu stopped.
“What’s up?” Chen Yueming turned and saw her bolt like a wild horse into an arcade, throwing her arms around a woman by a basketball hoop.
“Commander Guan! What a coincidence!” Song Lingshu said gleefully.
Guan Yue turned, surprised. “What are you doing here?”
Chen Yueming approached and saw Yu Che at another hoop, realizing they were on a date.
“What’re you guys playing?” Song Lingshu looked curiously. “Wow, are you battling?”
“Yeah.” Guan Yue nodded, a faint smile on her face, stunning Mariana, which stunned Yu Che.
Yu Che quietly sighed in relief. He’d never had such a tough date!
Guan Yue was cold and unresponsive, their chats fizzling out quickly—an epic-level awkward scene. But that was just her personality, so he couldn’t complain.
He brought her to the arcade to loosen up, only to find Guan Yue wanted to compete at basketball, saying it wouldn’t hurt his leg.
Great. They’d been at it for half an hour. His leg was fine, but his arm was done.
“You guys came just in time. Wanna play?” Yu Che asked.
“I’m in!” Song Lingshu volunteered. “Commander, let’s compete?”
“Sure.”
The result was obvious—Song Lingshu won easily. Her athletic skills were solid, and she was fresh, unlike Guan Yue, who’d been battling for half an hour. No way she wasn’t tired.
Though, it’s possible Guan Yue went easy on her.
“I didn’t win fair and square!” Song Lingshu said. “But the Commander’s amazing, holding her own against Yu Che for so long. He’s a pro!”
“That’s ancient history. Haven’t practiced in ages,” Yu Che said quickly, not wanting to embarrass pro athletes.
“What’s next for you guys?” Song Lingshu asked.
Guan Yue and Yu Che exchanged a look and shook their heads. If she hadn’t shown up, Guan Yue planned to compete all afternoon.
“How about we go shopping? I wanna buy clothes, and Commander, you can give me pro advice.”
No one objected. The guys sat down as soon as they entered the store, watching the girls roam, talking about stuff they didn’t get.
Song Lingshu tried on a few outfits. The guys’ feedback was uniform: “Looks good, nice, all great.”
Guan Yue was different: “The fabric’s too stiff, not comfy; the cut’s messy; a smaller size would be better; yellow suits your skin tone; the dark green one matches your vibe…”
See? This is the perk of shopping with a stylish woman! She got it, and Song Lingshu loved the expert input.
She tried on several outfits, showing them off. The guys all said, “Looks great.”
“Not quite right. Try another,” Guan Yue said, unfazed.
The guys: “…”
Song Lingshu tirelessly tried on the last set. Moments later, she opened the door and beckoned. “Commander, come help.”
Guan Yue stepped into the fitting room. Both tall, they made the space feel cramped.
Song Lingshu turned, showing her back. “The zipper’s tricky.”
Guan Yue’s gaze lingered on her back. Eyes on nose, nose on heart, mentally chanting the Diamond Sutra, she slowly pulled the zipper up, stopping at her slender, pale nape.
“Does it look good?” Song Lingshu turned and asked, her chest accidentally brushing Guan Yue’s arm.
Guan Yue’s breath hitched. “Looks good,” she said dryly.
“You didn’t even look properly.” Song Lingshu cupped her face, tilting it down. “What’s so great about the ceiling? Look here.”
Forced to look, Guan Yue’s eyes landed on a tantalizing curve, her face inexplicably heating up.
“Is this dress okay?” Song Lingshu asked.
“It’s fine.”
“Great, I’ll buy it.”
Song Lingshu changed back and went to pay, only to find Guan Yue had already covered it. She hurried over. “I’ll pay.”
“It’s fine. Not expensive,” Guan Yue said.
Song Lingshu thought it over, accepted with a smile, and grabbed her hand to head to the next store. “Come on, I’m getting you an outfit too!”
They shopped all afternoon, collapsing in the car’s back seat, heads leaning together. Song Lingshu suddenly said, “Did we forget something?”
“What?”
“Where’re Yu Che and Chen Yueming?”
“…No idea. Probably went back.”
Meanwhile, the two guys, still wandering the mall, looked at each other. “Today’s date day, right?”
“Forget them.” Song Lingshu turned, grinning at her. Guan Yue couldn’t help but smile faintly back.
But then the car swerved sharply. Caught off guard, Song Lingshu tipped over, her lips landing precisely on Guan Yue’s.
Both froze, eyes wide. A moment later, Song Lingshu blinked, her eyes curving into a smile.
Not bad—pretty sweet.
