- Chapter 30 - The Educated Youth Who Wouldn’t Behave 29
From Houshan Village to the commune, Luo An strolled along at ease behind Shao Jing. No matter how many times he quickened his pace, he couldn’t shake her off, and after a while he grew flustered.
By the time he stepped into the post office and Luo An followed right in after him, he was nearly panicked.
After all, the errand he came to run had everything to do with her. If Luo An, this loud-mouthed troublemaker, found out, his plan would be ruined.
Absolutely not! If he didn’t get rid of Luo An, he’d never have a chance to stand out in Houshan Village.
He would never put up with that humiliation again.
When he received the letter, he glanced at Luo An with vigilance. Seeing her seemingly uninterested, he hastily quickened his steps to leave.
What he didn’t realize was that in those mere ten seconds, Luo An had already read everything written on the envelope…
Tsk! Spineless thing! Doesn’t even dare to take revenge himself.
Ever since Luo An arrived, Shao Jing had gotten an early taste of society’s cruelty. Not even a month had passed before he wrote a letter to his old lover, lowering his head, and by the way tattled on all the things Luo An had done.
And look at that! The old lover felt distressed! She immediately pulled some strings, put in a word with the educated youths here, ready to give Luo An and the others a lesson anytime.
Oh, what power and prestige!
Shao Jing, having read the reply, could finally sleep at ease. Meanwhile, Luo An wrote a pile of letters of her own. Despite 001’s protest, she flew her sword through the night straight to Shao Jing’s hometown, City A.
In her last life, Duan Jia’s death was of course not solely the scumbag husband’s fault, but also thanks to the mistress Gu Qiaoping, and behind her, her parents.
When Duan Jia set out to look for her husband, plenty of people had already warned her. Yet being cheated on, and then humiliated to the extreme by Gu Qiaoping and her mother when she was all alone—wasn’t that the last straw that crushed the camel?
Add to that Father Gu’s shady dealings, and the content of that letter—it was more than enough for Luo An to sentence them to death.
They dared force such humiliation on her and Duan Jia? Then better let them taste it first.
Luo An tossed the prepared letters onto the desks of Father Gu’s bitter rivals, then ghosted her way straight to the Gu household. At that very moment, mother and daughter were whispering their schemes.
“Daughter, do you really have your eye on Shao Jing? With our family’s status and power, it wouldn’t be hard to find someone much better than him.”
Gu Qiaoping immediately pouted, tugging at her mother’s sleeve. “But I like him. I’ll marry no one but him in this life. And he likes me too—he’s only been down in the countryside for a little while and already sent me word. That proves he cares about me.”
Seeing her daughter acting like a fool, Mother Gu could only sigh inwardly. Care about her? More like he had a favor to ask. But since her daughter liked him, what could she say?
“So what do you two plan to do?”
Gu Qiaoping eagerly leaned close and whispered the plan, never realizing someone else was already in the room.
“Ma, those two sluts must have set their eyes on Shao Jing. That’s why they keep butting heads with him, just to get his attention. People like that absolutely can’t be left alive.”
Mother Gu saw her daughter’s ruthless expression and didn’t comment. In her eyes, being ruthless wasn’t necessarily a bad thing—it wasn’t even the first time, after all.
001, who had watched it all, was so furious it wanted to stomp its feet.
“Host, kill them!”
How dare they plot against its host? Unforgivable!
A rush of wind swept over. Just as Gu Qiaoping turned her head, pain struck her neck, and everything went black.
Her mother fared no better.
Late that night, Luo An carried one in each hand and drifted to the outskirts of City S, the most lawless part of town. She tossed the mother and daughter into a dark alley, clapped her hands, and hid in the shadows.
It wasn’t even five minutes before two drunken men staggered past and spotted the pair.
Anyone surviving in this neighborhood was a thug. Gu Qiaoping herself had once hired people here to rough up a girl she didn’t like—that was exactly why Luo An chose to dump her here.
“Old Wang, women! One old, one young,” one muttered. “Skin’s soft, definitely pampered ladies. Still in pajamas too. Didn’t expect us to run into such luck.”
The other was already pawing at them, excitement surging.
“Come on, let’s take them back to my place. We’ll have ourselves a night.” With that, he hoisted Gu Qiaoping onto his shoulder and strode away.
The second thug, worried his buddy might take the young one first, hastily grabbed Mother Gu and followed.
Old or not, for men without wives, having something was better than nothing.
Luo An trailed them into a dilapidated shack before turning to leave.
The rest was too unsightly to watch—no point in wasting time.
As for Shao Jing, of course he’d be getting a gift too. No rush though—trash belongs in the trash bin, and the cleaning must be thorough.
“Host, since the Gu family’s no good either, why don’t you play the hero and strip them bare while you’re at it?”
That… actually wasn’t a bad idea. But Luo An had another suspicion.
“You’re a system—what do you even need money for? Out with it.”
Given what she knew of this system, if money didn’t matter to it, it would never have suggested it.
“Ahem, host, you’re so clever.”
Faced with her cold stare, 001 had no choice but to confess. “Money can be converted into system coins to buy skins. And with New Year coming in a few months, I want a new outfit too. Such a small wish, host will grant me, right?”
001 blinked its big round eyes, tone full of hope, though inside it was grumbling nonstop. If only it could take things directly from the outside world, it wouldn’t need to be this pathetic.
Systems have it hard too—earning their own keep, all while feeding their greedy hosts.
“Fine. If I bring you money, will you be quicker when I ask for snacks?”
001 nodded vigorously.
Alright then!
For the sake of her snacks, Luo An launched into looting mode. Cabinets, boxes, under the floor, up on the beams—anywhere money was hidden, she cleaned it all out. The only thing she left was the account book, placed right in plain sight.
After arranging everything, she tapped Father Gu twice to ensure he’d sleep like the dead until his enemies came calling, then strolled back to Houshan Village. It was only two in the morning.
Next door, Duan Jia had no idea that in the dead of night, Luo An had already made a trip to City A, settling her past-life grudge for her.
“Looks like I’ll have to head out again tomorrow night. Now that Duan Jia’s love rivals are taken care of, I can’t just let the original host’s husband walk free. His first wife is still alive—maybe I can even save a life.”
001 hugged its pile of money with glee. “Host, his family’s loaded too. If you go back for a second round tomorrow, I promise you’ll have whatever snacks you want!”
