Luo An directly slapped her twice.
“I already hit you and your mom. Even if I were willing to let you off, would you let me off?
Don’t be naive! Everything I asked for must be delivered, not a single thing less. Otherwise, I have plenty of ways to ruin your reputation completely.”
After that, she showed no mercy and kicked the mother and daughter out.
Luo Ning supported her mother, but as they left, they stumbled over the threshold and both fell to the ground.
“Mom, what do we do? That b1tch has gone mad!”
Chen Juhua glared at the just-shut door and spat fiercely.
“Go back and find your grandparents. If she thinks she’s getting money from me, she’s dreaming.”
The two women hurried home as quickly as possible. Luckily it was work hours, so few people saw their sorry state. Otherwise, with Luo Ning’s personality, she’d have wished to crawl into a hole from shame.
“An’an, they’ll definitely go looking for your grandparents. When that happens…”
Though she didn’t finish, Luo An understood what she meant. She, however, didn’t think it was much of a problem.
“Mom, if I beat up Grandpa and Grandma too, would you think I’ve gone bad?”
Xu Qing immediately shook her head.
“You’ve always been obedient since you were little. This time… this time they’ve just gone too far.”
That’s what she said, but she still couldn’t help worrying.
“An’an, hitting your aunt is one thing—we could still explain it away. But if you hit your grandparents too, your reputation might…”
Reputation?
Luo An smiled faintly. For a family like the original owner’s, reputation was the most useless thing in the world.
When you can barely survive, who cares about face?
“I’m not afraid. I’ll be going to the countryside in a few days anyway. Once I’m gone, no matter what they say, I won’t hear it. But Mom, people might gossip about you.”
As expected, Xu Qing’s face turned troubled at her reminder.
“Why won’t they just leave us alone? You’re also a child of the Luo family!”
Luo An patted her mother’s back. Though the original’s mother was weak, after the original owner’s accident, this woman had borrowed travel money and rushed all the way to bring her back from the countryside.
Sigh—
Luo An sighed. She had been taken into a sect at four years old and had never experienced this kind of mother-daughter bond. But she could feel the body’s deep attachment and affection for her mother.
She didn’t mind re-shaping her mother’s way of thinking—as long as she wasn’t too stubborn.
“Mom, since you don’t have a job anyway, why not go back to Grandma’s place? At least you’ll have someone to look after you. I’d feel more at ease.”
Xu Qing’s relatives had indeed come to fetch them many times after the original’s father passed away. But Xu Qing always feared burdening her family and never agreed.
“Your uncle’s family isn’t well off either…”
“It’s not like you’d go back as a pampered lady. You’d still help with chores, and you could look after Grandma too. Or when I get money, you could buy a small house in their village. That way you wouldn’t have to worry about troubling Aunt.”
This suggestion moved Xu Qing. Her mother’s home was in a village on the outskirts—not too far, but with their conditions, it had always been difficult to visit. Now there was an opportunity…
“But they won’t give you money, will they?”
“Don’t worry! Whether they want to or not, they’ll have to!”
Luo An was determined. The money itself was secondary—what really mattered was making them choke on it.
After calming Xu Qing, Luo An returned to her room, muttering gloomily:
“I haven’t called anyone ‘Mom’ in hundreds of years. Still feels weird.”
The little system girl sat cross-legged, swinging her legs as she spoke lazily:
“If you want to complete the mission, you need to blend in, Host.”
In truth, 001 was watching with glee. So what if she’s a bigshot? She still has to work for me.
It was quite satisfied, though Luo An was unaware. Looking at the shabby little room, she almost pouted again.
Poor! Truly poor!
She sat on a stool, stretched out her hand, and in the air appeared half a steaming roast chicken leg. 001 was dumbfounded.
“Y-you… where did you take that out from?”
“You mean this chicken leg? From my storage pouch, of course.” Luo An answered casually, chewing as she spoke.
“That’s impossible! I already checked—you didn’t bring anything. How can a storage pouch just appear out of nowhere?”
Seeing its ignorant look, Luo An kindly explained:
“That thing was refined long ago and merged with my soul.”
001: … Why did nobody ever tell me this?!
“Then… then do you have other things in there?”
Luo An smiled mysteriously.
“Guess.”
Guess? Guess my ass!
001 didn’t need to guess—it knew she definitely had plenty of trump cards, she just didn’t want to say.
Frustration bubbled in its little heart. This wasn’t how it had imagined things! It wanted to watch a bigshot struggle miserably under its control—that would’ve been so satisfying.
But now? That feeling was completely gone.
001 sulked!
Before it could wallow for long, Luo An suddenly asked:
“Do I absolutely have to go to the countryside?”
001 nodded decisively.
“The original owner had another wish: to save her friend, Duan Jia, who went down to the countryside with her.”
Now it was Luo An’s turn to feel depressed. From the original’s memories, she already knew what rural life was like. Honestly? It sounded dreadful.
If she were made to dig fields, she’d be tempted to use magic to finish a whole plot instantly. But that would only get her branded a monster.
001 could see she was thinking of backing out, so it immediately blared sirens in its mind. It had taken ten years to find this unlucky soul who was on Heaven’s blacklist. If she bailed, where would it find another?
No way! No matter what, it couldn’t let her escape!
“Host, don’t tell me you don’t want to work in the countryside?”
Luo An nodded… then shook her head.
“I just want to stay here and stomp some idiots.”
“You can’t just keep bullying the same family! After you deal with the Luo clan, go to the countryside—there’ll be plenty more scum to torment. And you like drama, right? There’s tons of it in the villages.”
“Really?”
Seeing her eyes light up, 001 was bewildered. How can Luo An be this down-to-earth? She doesn’t act like a lofty bigshot at all.
If it didn’t know her true strength, it would’ve thought it accidentally bound some nosy neighborhood auntie instead.
Since it couldn’t figure it out, it asked her directly. The answer it got was two epic eye-rolls.
“You know nothing! Cultivators are all boring as hell—always trembling in front of me, like one wrong word and I’d kill them on the spot. I’ve lived over three hundred years without a single person to banter with.
Once I was traveling and saw two village women quarreling. The way they argued was so funny I almost died laughing. But just as I was about to join in, they got so scared they shut up completely.
Now, thanks to you, I get to wear someone else’s skin and play however I like. That’s the only reason I agreed. Did you really think you could bind me otherwise?”
001: … So basically, you’re just looking down on me!
