- Chapter 3 - The Heiress Will Not Be a Cannon Fodder 003
Sheng Nuan walked up to the sports building, holding a colored ball, contemplating how to quickly accumulate enough points for a revival.
Her father was on the verge of collapse, and after much effort, she had finally taken down the green tea mother-daughter duo. If she didn’t hurry back, the green tea b1tch would undoubtedly make a comeback, and if that happened, she would lose everything. In that case, reviving herself would be pointless—she might as well just lie flat and forget about it.
Just then, the door to the nearby equipment room opened without warning. Someone grabbed Sheng Nuan by the arm and dragged her into the equipment room…
Reacting swiftly, she bent forward without turning her head and swung her elbow backward, simultaneously kicking her foot behind her. The opponent, seemingly not expecting her to fight back, let out a muffled groan and immediately grabbed hold of her foot.
Without hesitation, Sheng Nuan used the momentum to spin and land another kick. At the same time, the opponent tightened their grip on her leg and forcefully shoved her away.
Steadying herself with one hand on the ground, Sheng Nuan looked up and saw a young man dressed in a black trench coat standing opposite her. He was clearly injured; his chest was stained with bl00d, and he held a knife while calmly observing her. Then, he smirked and said, “Good skills.”
Sheng Nuan and her original self had both undergone training—not enough to be considered experts, but they had basic self-defense skills. More importantly, in that moment, Sheng Nuan recognized the man before her: Shang Yue, a character in the original plot who was mistakenly believed by the original owner to be her father’s illegitimate son.
In the original story, Shang Yue had once served as a school doctor at No. 1 High School. However, he was later falsely accused by the original owner, and caused a storm in the city before eventually leaving the school.
More crucially, Sheng Nuan knew from the customer service that the original host’s father, Leslie Norman, had lost the power struggle within the family, and Shang Yue played a significant role in that downfall.
But now, she and Shang Yue had no direct interactions yet…
Sheng Nuan took a step back and pulled out her phone from her pocket.
Shang Yue’s expression darkened, but in his current injured state, he couldn’t subdue this young girl immediately… In the next moment, his expression changed, and a pleading look appeared in his eyes. “Please don’t call the police.”
He added, “I’m not a bad person.”
Sheng Nuan looked at him skeptically. “No one has the word bad person written on their face.”
Shang Yue sighed. “I really have my reasons. I’m the school doctor here… My father’s illegitimate son tried to kidnap me, and I’m just trying to escape and hide from them. I’m not lying.”
The man was naturally handsome and elegant, and when he spoke with a slight frown, he appeared gentle and harmless.
But Sheng Nuan knew he was completely talking nonsense… He himself was the illegitimate son.
She understood this in her heart, but didn’t show it on her face. Instead, she hesitated and asked, “Then why did you attack me?”
Shang Yue’s expression was sincere. “I thought the people trying to kidnap me had caught up, and I was so scared that I acted impulsively. I’m sorry, can you forgive me?”
Yeah, right.
But Sheng Nuan knew she couldn’t do anything to Shang Yue. Instead of making an enemy out of him, it might be wiser to do him a favor—who knows, it might come in handy in the future.
The tension on her face gradually eased, and she glanced at his injury before hesitantly asking, “Are you sure you don’t want to call the police? Wouldn’t that make you safer?”
Shang Yue sighed. “Family scandals should not be made public…”
Seeing that the young girl seemed convinced, Shang Yue cautiously asked, “Can you help me?”
Sheng Nuan hesitated. “How can I help?”
Shang Yue took out a key and whispered, “This is the key to the infirmary. Could you bring me a set of clothes, and a lab coat too… I can’t go out like this.”
Sheng Nuan hesitated.
Shang Yue’s expression became even more innocent and harmless as he softly said, “Please, help me. I’ll repay you when I have the chance.”
After a moment’s pause, Sheng Nuan nodded slightly. “Alright, then…”
She took the key from Shang Yue’s hand, cast a nervous glance at the bl00d on his chest, and then turned to leave the equipment room.
The infirmary wasn’t far from the equipment room, which was likely why Shang Yue chose to hide here.
Sheng Nuan took a set of clothes from his locker and grabbed a lab coat from the hanger. Before leaving, she noticed some medicines, bandages, and gauze on the table and decided to take those as well.
Meanwhile, inside the equipment room, Shang Yue no longer appeared as the persecuted illegitimate son he had pretended to be in front of Sheng Nuan.
“I’ve got what you asked for, and I’ve sent it to you… Make sure he doesn’t make it out alive.”
After hanging up the phone, he sat there expressionless, pushing the gun strapped to his back deeper in place. Then he looked toward the equipment room’s door, his eyes cold.
Choosing to trust and seek help from that little girl was a last resort… If she dared betray him, he would make sure she regretted ever being born.
At that moment, footsteps sounded outside.
Shang Yue pulled his black trench coat tighter to cover the bl00dstains on his body and discreetly placed a hand on his gun.
The next moment, the door to the equipment room opened cautiously.
Sheng Nuan stepped inside, saw that Shang Yue was still there, and breathed a sigh of relief before carefully locking the door behind her.
She quickly walked over to Shang Yue and asked, “Will these do?”
Seeing the disinfectant and bandaging supplies inside, Shang Yue was a bit surprised. Then, he looked up at her and gave a friendly, gentle smile. “Thank you,” he said.
“No problem.”
At this point, Shang Yue removed his outer coat, revealing a T-shirt nearly soaked in bl00d… Sheng Nuan instinctively recoiled in disgust but quickly masked her reaction, replacing it with a look of concern. She hesitated before asking, “Do you need help?”
Shang Yue paused, then looked up. “Well, thank you then…”
Sheng Nuan kept her head down and silently helped him bandage his wound. Shang Yue sat on the ground, watching her constantly swaying head in front of him, with a faint raised eyebrow.
The young girl’s hair color was a pretty flaxen hue…. and up close, her eyes seemed to have a hint of green within the black.
Was she mixed-race?
After Sheng Nuan finished bandaging him, she stood up. “If that’s all, I’ll be going.”
Seeing that she seemed unwilling to stay for even a minute longer, Shang Yue found it amusing in his heart, though he maintained a grateful expression on his face. “Thank you for today.”
“It’s okay, just pretend you never saw me, and I’ll pretend I never saw you.”
After saying that, Sheng Nuan waved her hand as if she wanted to avoid any trouble and couldn’t wait to turn to leave.
A moment later, Shang Yue, now changed and having cleaned up the scene, walked out of the equipment room and headed downstairs with a calm expression.
Back at the school infirmary, his straightened back relaxed as he leaned back in his chair and began to undress with difficulty.
He had bandaged his wound earlier to prevent the bl00d from seeping through, but now he had to undo the bandage and stitch the wound.
Without any anesthetic, Shang Yue stitched his own wound, his expressionless face pale and covered in cold sweat… After finishing, he rebandaged the wound and changed his clothes, letting out a long sigh.
Today, he had been careless… he needed to be more cautious in the future.
At that moment, his phone buzzed.
He took it out to find an email, with a photo attached.
The moment Shang Yue saw the photo, he was taken aback, squinting before letting out a chuckle.
No wonder I thought that little girl looked too eye-catching. It turned out that she had the bl00d of the Norman family.
Shang Yue clicked his tongue.
Leslie Norman, on the surface, had appeared to be friendly with him, but behind the scenes, he had chosen his foolish elder brother instead. If he could get Leslie’s daughter in the palm of his hand, how reliable would their alliance be then?
Shang Yue lazily smirked, his eyes cold…
