Reasonable Loss - 24
Well, it’s not a big deal.
Just smelling it a little.
It’s not like it’s someone else, it’s the scent of his baby’s father.
This much should be okay, right?
He tried to rationalize to himself.
Eunsoo buried his nose in the sweater.
He breathed in deeply.
As expected, he could strongly smell Dokwon’s scent.
It was a wonderful, even ecstatic smell.
It was also the scent Eunsoo loved most in the world.
The corners of Eunsoo’s mouth turned up slightly.
Before the accident, he smelled this scent every day.
He slept surrounded by this scent and woke up to it.
How long had it been, for that time to feel so distant now?
Eunsoo lost track of time, hugging Dokwon’s sweater.
“What are you doing?”
If that cold voice hadn’t cut into the nape of his neck, he might have turned to stone right there.
Startled, Eunsoo dropped the sweater.
Doubly surprised by that, he hurriedly picked up the sweater and hung it on the coat rack.
“I, I was just tidying up a bit.”
Eunsoo deliberately didn’t turn around to confirm the owner of the voice.
He could tell who it was just from the voice.
Eunsoo fiddled with the sleeve and fabric of the sweater even after hanging it up.
He came to see Dokwon, but somehow couldn’t bring himself to turn around.
Just then, Dokwon let out a mocking laugh.
“While stealing my scent?”
At those words, Eunsoo momentarily stopped breathing.
Then he clenched his fist tightly.
The bandage on the back of his hand twisted with a cracking sound.
Eunsoo was irritated.
He strongly disliked Dokwon treating him like a shameless thief.
Eunsoo pressed the bandage firmly with his palm to reattach it.
Then he turned around abruptly and said glibly:
“Yes. I couldn’t resist after smelling it every day and then not being able to.”
It’s almost like withdrawal symptoms, you know.
Eunsoo nonchalantly walked past Dokwon.
He settled into the makeshift chair next to the bed as if it were his own place.
It was an incredibly brazen act, but he didn’t feel that way inside.
His body was trembling so much that he worried Dokwon might notice.
“…”
Dokwon just stared at Eunsoo for a moment without saying anything.
He sat on the sofa instead of coming to the bed.
The sofa was against the wall, so if he raised his head, he would make eye contact with Eunsoo.
However, Dokwon fixed his gaze on the mountain of newspapers piled next to the sofa.
