Reasonable Loss - 46
“So Secretary Jung made the reservation here.”
“Secretary Jung always has good taste.”
Eunsoo sipped water and smiled. Secretary Jung was both a suffering subordinate to Dokwon and a good supporter of their relationship.
Eunsoo was thinking he should thank Secretary Jung after the meal when Dokwon stared at him intently. Then, as he poured water into his glass, he said,
“It seems your voice has changed.”
“Ah…… I guess I’m a bit tired from working after a long time. Commuting by subway is also tough.”
Eunsoo rubbed his throat with his hand. His cold wasn’t fully gone. Fortunately, he hadn’t been coughing, but his throat was scratchy, and a low-grade fever gently tickled his veins.
Dokwon clicked his tongue lightly. It had only been four days, but Eunsoo had visibly lost weight. Even with pregnancy, how did he manage his body? Despite having money, he seemed uninterested in eating.
“Can’t you still take a car?”
“No. Still can’t.”
“Then move your home next to the company. Gangnam is full of officetels. Or stay in a hotel until the trauma disappears.”
It was an easy suggestion to say but hard to implement. But Dokwon was someone who could easily put things into action. Eunsoo might have been the one who had to endure this, but Dokwon was willing to book a hotel or buy a house if needed.
Thinking about it, a hotel seemed better. They would clean it, offer 24-hour room service, so there wouldn’t be any hunger, and if anything happened, help would be immediate. Dokwon mentally listed hotels around the company when
“Hm…… I’ve thought about that too.”
Eunsoo interrupted the train of thought.
“And?”
“Well, I don’t like it because there’s no Dokwon smell.”
“……What did you say?”
“My home has your smell all over it. But if we move, it would just be a new place. I don’t like that. I find it hard to sleep without your smell now.”
Eunsoo said these embarrassingly intimate words quite boldly and plainly. Dokwon blinked rapidly, wondering if he had heard wrong.
He must be referring to me as ‘Dokwon,’ but how can he say such things with such an indifferent face?
“Isn’t it embarrassing to say that?”
“It used to be embarrassing, but you changed me like this.”
“I did? To you?”
“Yes. You liked it when I said things like this. You used to laugh like a child.”
If the Dokwon sitting in front of him was the old Dokwon, he would have probably gotten excited about the idea of leaving his scent in a new place and would have boasted about commuting from there for a while.
He might have even packed a large suitcase with clothes and living supplies to merge their lives together.
“……”
Dokwon did not respond. At that moment, there was a knock. The ordered food had arrived. Eunsoo responded quietly, “Yes.” Soon, two familiar-faced servers entered and neatly placed the dishes.
For a while, there was silence between Eunsoo and Dokwon.
Before long, the table was full, and the servers bowed and left. Only Eunsoo and Dokwon remained.
Eunsoo picked up his chopsticks. Dokwon scanned the dishes carefully, like a beast wary of something. Eunsoo, as if to show him, put a pumpkin jeon in his mouth, chewed thoroughly, and then pushed the grilled deodeok plate in front of Dokwon.
“This is something you like. We refill it twice every time we come. Try it.”
