Eunsoo didn’t want to hear any more, so he pulled Dokwon’s hand and led him to a seat. The robotic and clichéd doctors didn’t ask too many questions, and that was what Eunsoo liked. It felt like the doctor had done this so many times that he didn’t get excited about it anymore. But despite that, he still did everything he was supposed to.
As a result, the consultation time was short, and it was easy to ask the things Eunsoo wanted to know, or to hide things he didn’t want to mention.
Dokwon’s face grew more displeased as they entered the clinic. This would be the place where his child would be born, yet it was such a run-down place. He didn’t feel good about it.
Regardless of Dokwon’s feelings, Eunsoo finished the registration and sat on a corner sofa. He patted the seat next to him, signaling Dokwon to sit beside him. Dokwon reluctantly sat next to him.
The clinic was crowded, but not overly so—just enough people to fill the sofas.
Eunsoo looked them over carefully. There weren’t many people like him with a flat stomach; most of the others had clearly swollen bellies, despite wearing loose clothing.
How do they walk around with those? It looks like they might pop like a balloon if someone bumps into them.
He had learned a bit about pregnancy and childbirth during his education, but seeing it up close was still a strange and new experience.
Eunsoo absentmindedly stroked his own stomach. In a few months, his stomach would be as big as theirs. Would it be heavy? Probably. Would he still be able to work? Looking at his team leader from the other department, she had worked until the end of her pregnancy.
While deep in thought, Eunsoo suddenly remembered Dokwon and looked at him. He was only on his third pregnancy, while this was Dokwon’s first, so he must have a lot of thoughts running through his mind.
As expected, Dokwon was staring intently at the pregnant woman sitting in front of them. His gaze was fiery, fixated on her perfectly round belly. Eunsoo could almost feel the intensity of his stare, and it made him shrink his shoulders. The pregnant woman definitely felt the gaze too.
Sure enough, she glared at Dokwon with an expression that said, “What is this guy staring at?”
Eunsoo pulled Dokwon’s hand. Dokwon’s gaze was slowly pulled back. Eunsoo silently scolded him, frowning. Dokwon raised his chin, as if asking what that meant. Eunsoo shook his head, awkwardly smiling and looking at the pregnant woman.
“Sorry.”
“Oh, it’s fine. Everyone does that.”
The pregnant woman waved her hand with a gentle smile. Eunsoo apologized again, saying he was just curious, and then tried to end the conversation. But the pregnant woman turned her body to face them and started looking at them more seriously.
“Which one of you is pregnant? Or are both of you just the guardians?”
“Ah, I… I am.”
Eunsoo raised his hand sheepishly, like a student called by the teacher. The pregnant woman blinked her eyes quickly.
“Oh my… Are you an Omega?”
“Yes.”
“Are you still in the early stages?”
“Yes. I’m about three months along.”
“Oh, oh, that’s the stage when everything is still so dramatic. So your husband is here with you?”
The pregnant woman looked at Dokwon with a warm, compassionate gaze. The strange man from before suddenly became a caring husband.
“My husband doesn’t even come with me anymore.”
She began talking earnestly. Eunsoo’s eyes widened.
“Why, why doesn’t he come with you?”
“He lost interest. The baby doesn’t come out right away. Ten months is a long time. When I first got pregnant, I had so many emotions, but now they don’t last.”
“Ah…”
“You should keep coming with your husband. Especially to the obstetrics and gynecology clinic. While you’re waiting for your appointment, you’ll have all kinds of thoughts.”
“What kind of thoughts?”
“Just pointless thoughts. Will the baby come out healthy? Will it have all its fingers and toes? Can I give birth well? Will I be able to raise it properly? Those kinds of things. It might seem trivial, but to me, it doesn’t feel trivial.”
“Ah…”
