Rebirth: I Am the Wealthy Family (GL) - Chapter 24
This scene deeply shook Chen Qianyu. Now she finally understood what Ah He meant about An Xi being a very dedicated actress, just like her sister. Had her sister also struggled and worked so hard in the past?
“Don’t you need to memorize the script? Oh, I almost forgot, you’re famously known for your photographic memory. Honestly, Chen Qianyu, I actually admire you. Last year alone, you took on eleven dramas, and three of them were lead roles. How did you memorize so many lines?”
She continued flipping through the script, her body still maintaining the straight headstand, demanding strict discipline from herself.
“Eleven dramas? Me, last year?”
Chen Qianyu now realized why her sister’s time with her was shortened last year—she was taking on so many roles, and she hadn’t known any of this.
“Yeah, that’s right. Last year you were even named the model worker of the entertainment industry. Although your acting has been the same for ten years, not so great, your professionalism still earns my utmost respect, An Xi. But sometimes high output isn’t enough; quality matters too. You act in so many dramas, but you’re always a vase. A vase can only be half-famous, half-obscure, like you are today.” An Xi was still very sharp-tongued, glancing sideways at Chen Qianyu.
Sure enough, Chen Qianyu felt a slight surge of anger, which she was trying hard to suppress.
“Qianyu, are you inside? I have something to discuss with you. Can I come in now?” It was Han Dong’er’s voice; she was already knocking. An Xi, who had been holding a headstand, suddenly stood up and quickly pulled out her makeup bag, starting to touch up her makeup with a speed that astonished Chen Qianyu.
“I, you…”
“Alright, you can open the door now.”
An Xi had now regained her domineering composure, sitting down in one spot, holding her script, and continuing to read as if nothing outside could disturb her. Chen Qianyu then went to open the door and saw Han Dong’er enter.
“Qianyu, who is your roommate? This is a fruit basket I prepared for you and your roommate. You can eat some.” Han Dong’er said, handing the fruit basket to Chen Qianyu, but when she saw An Xi, her hand froze in mid-air.
An Xi didn’t lift her head, acting as if she hadn’t heard Han Dong’er’s voice at all, and continued reading the script.
Seeing this situation, Chen Qianyu had no choice but to take the fruit basket and then open the door, gesturing for Han Dong’er to come in.
“No, Qianyu, let’s talk outside. It’s a bit inconvenient here. Let’s go out first.” Han Dong’er’s hand was trembling constantly. It had been shaking non-stop since she saw An Xi, and her eyes never left An Xi. She was clearly saying one thing and meaning another.
“Alright then. An Xi, there are fruits here. Take some if you want.”
Chen Qianyu then closed the door and went out with Han Dong’er. Outside, Han Dong’er leaned against the wall, long-breathed a sigh of relief, patting her chest with her hand.
“Qianyu, are you living with An Xi?”
“Uh, yes. As you saw, we’re collaborating on A Tale of April. We’ll probably be living together until this drama wraps up. What’s wrong? Are you okay? You look unwell.” Chen Qianyu supported Han Dong’er.
“I’m fine. Let’s go. Ye Fengzi invited us to drink coffee together. She’s upstairs now. She said she wants to discuss the script, and because the scene is between the two of us, she hopes we can participate.”
“Oh, let’s go together then.”
Ye Fengzi’s room was the VIP suite on the third floor of the Huaqianshu Hotel. It was odd that a minor screenwriter had such treatment. Other big-name stars had to squeeze into a room with two people. It didn’t make sense logically, yet she truly had a room all to herself.
“Haha, Director Gu, you are truly an interesting person. This is a great plot device. Maybe it will be the theme of my next novel?” Han Dong’er and Chen Qianyu opened the door and heard Ye Fengzi and Gu Mingzhu chatting and laughing. It was clear that Gu Mingzhu and Ye Fengzi had a very good personal relationship.
“Really? If you use my plot device, I might ask for copyright, you know. Remember to give me a copy of your royalties?”
Ye Fengzi smiled as she poured tea for Gu Mingzhu: “Director Gu, I really suspect you’re either a reborn or time-traveling person. Your way of thinking really makes me… Please forgive me, I write too many reborn and time-traveling stories. Occupational hazard.” Suddenly, Ye Fengzi noticed Chen Qianyu and Han Dong’er arriving.
“Qianyu, Dong’er, over here. Do you two want coffee or tea? I only have Pu-erh tea, which is good for weight loss, and the rest is coffee.” Ye Fengzi placed her brought items on a nearby table, allowing Chen Qianyu and Han Dong’er to choose for themselves.
Because Chen Qianyu and Gu Mingzhu had a small misunderstanding earlier, this time she chose not to sit next to Gu Mingzhu but let Han Dong’er sit beside her. Han Dong’er also noticed the unusual tension between the two and sat in the middle.
“Black coffee for me, please. What do you want, Qianyu?”
“Latte, I want coffee too!”
Ye Fengzi went to brew the coffee.
“Dong’er, did you see An Xi?”
It was a period of silence, and Gu Mingzhu broke the quiet, initiating a conversation with Han Dong’er.
“I saw her. She completely ignored me!”
Han Dong’er lowered her head in disappointment. In her eyes, she knew all along that Chen Qianyu and An Xi were sharing a room. Bringing fruit earlier was just an excuse; she only wanted to see An Xi. Otherwise, a simple text message would have sufficed to ask Chen Qianyu to come out. Why did she have to personally run over? What she didn’t expect was that she did see her, but felt even more heartbroken afterward.
“Actually, Dong’er, I think An Xi…”
“I know, Qianyu, don’t say anything more. This is my private matter, and I will handle it myself. I heard about what happened on set today. You meant well for me, but matters of the heart are only known to the person experiencing them. Others can’t truly empathize. Thank you.”
Han Dong’er interrupted Chen Qianyu, not letting her finish.
“Your black coffee, your latte. Please enjoy. Now, I’ll introduce my husband, shall I?”
Ye Fengzi smiled gently, placing the coffee in front of Han Dong’er and Chen Qianyu.
“Husband?”
“Haha, my husband is an Acer laptop. He is the one who feeds me, and he always accompanies me. Most importantly, he will never cheat!” Ye Fengzi brought over the laptop and opened a document. In the past hour, she had surprisingly already written the outline for the first episode.
“This is the main plot and outline of the first episode. As for the dialogue, I will write it later. You three, please take a look and see if there are any areas in the initial outline that need improvement.”
