“Keita! Hey, Keita!!”

“Ugh…”

I hear Azusa’s voice. She seems to be lightly slapping my face. Is it morning already?

“Wait, no! That’s not it! This is way more important!”

Too many weird things happened, and my brain just couldn’t handle it anymore!

“That’s right! This is more important!”

The Azusa in front of me looked really young.

For some reason, she was wearing her middle school uniform and looked super cute. Well, actually, she was already looking more beautiful than just cute.

“Azusa. Hold on. My brain can’t understand all these unbelievable things happening right now.”

I could look at Azusa in her uniform forever, but I was too overwhelmed by my own situation.
Or so I thought…

“So you are too? I thought I had died…”

“Huh? You too?”

This was a huge shock.
It seemed Azusa was caught up in this crazy situation too.

“What’s this status screen thing?”

“I can see it too. I actually skipped school and came to your house to talk about it.”

Apparently, it was exactly the same for her.
The difference was that Azusa didn’t panic. She just skipped school to come to my house. Wait… school?

“We’re back in our third year of middle school. This makes no sense.”

After Azusa said that, I frantically checked the calendar.
It seemed we’d gone back to May of our third year of middle school.

“No way. How did this…”

“Seriously. I’m so glad you’re here, Keita. If I’d come back to the past alone, I might have been totally hopeless.”

Same here. Knowing Azusa was here made me feel much calmer. It really was good.

“Umm… it’s already 10 AM. Let’s just skip school today. We need to talk about what we’re going to do.”

“You’re right. There are too many things we don’t understand.”

Then we talked about our situation.
We used our old flip phones and the newspaper to check if we’d really gone back to the past.
We thought it might be a parallel world, but it wasn’t.
It was the past we remembered.

“This is insane. I know it’s probably not the best thing to think about right now, but… we can do whatever we want! We could become billionaires just by buying stocks we know will go up!”

“Good thing you were into stock trading, Keita.”

We didn’t know why we came back, but we were going to take full advantage of it!
I used to daydream about what stocks I’d buy if I came back to this time, so I remembered the past pretty well.
I’d need to re-study some things, but this was a huge advantage.

“Now, the problem is this thing,” I said, looking at the status board.

“You haven’t touched it yet either, have you?” Azusa asked.

It seemed like a man should go first in this kind of situation.
I wasn’t sure what Azusa meant by “be careful,” though.

“Hard to know the rules.”

I tried way more gambling stuff too. Boat races, bicycle races… even played different games when we went to a casino in America.

“What bothers me most isn’t the skills,” Azusa said firmly. “It’s the ‘Looks: 50’. I am definitely cuter than average.”

“Y-Yeah. Sure you are.”

“Exactly!”

Well, I think I’m more handsome than average too. Maybe there are incredibly beautiful people hidden away somewhere in the world.

“So, what are we supposed to do with this?” I asked.

“Maybe we can raise the skills or stats by working hard? It feels like a game.”

Hmm. Well, it’s good to know what you’re capable of, I guess. Maybe it helps you see your progress.

“Hey? What’s this? I can move it!” I said, poking at the status board.

“Oh, you’re right!”

I was just touching the status board randomly and realized I could adjust things like Looks and Athletic Ability. Anything goes!

“Huh? Seriously? Does it cost money?” I wondered.

“Guess it’s not that easy,” Azusa concluded.

Money, huh… I couldn’t get it right away, but I could in the future. Just use my future knowledge for stock trading.

“This is actually getting kind of exciting,” I grinned.

“Me too,” Azusa agreed. “Who cares that we died and came back to the past?”

That’s the spirit! That’s my Azusa. She was my wife for a reason – she gets it.
