Reborn as a Scummy Alpha, I Became Every Heroine's Obsession (GL) - Chapter 10
Xiao Bai quietly swallowed and decided to break the tension.
“President, the morning meeting has already been delayed by thirty minutes… should we head over now?”
She had already taken the driver’s seat.
Since Hanhan had been hacked and was currently offline, Xiao Bai had taken it upon herself to drive manually.
Gu Qiqi looked over, a little surprised.
“You’re an omega? Huh… something about you feels different.”
Xiao Bai instinctively touched the back of her neck.
“There’s nothing different, Miss Gu. I just had my gland removed, that’s all.”
Without a pheromone gland, a person could neither release pheromones nor be affected by them. That’s how Xiao Bai was able to stay perfectly clear-headed even in such a heavy pheromone-filled atmosphere.
But gland removal was illegal under federal law. Any omega or alpha who had it done would be declared permanently disabled—and shunned by people across the galaxy.
Feng Jiying spoke up suddenly.
“Two months and twenty-eight days.”
Gu Qiqi blinked. “What?”
Feng Jiying didn’t look at her.
“The Feng family is very particular about its reputation. During this period, I suggest you refrain from flirting around or chasing others. I may not care, but the old-fashioned, traditionalists behind the Feng name absolutely do. I don’t know what they might do if you step out of line.”
She turned her head slightly, giving Gu Qiqi a calm glance before turning back to face the road ahead. Her long legs crossed elegantly, and she leaned back against the seat, closing her eyes to rest.
Gu Qiqi frowned. That was… a strange thing to say.
Flirt around? With who?
She could barely keep herself from running in the opposite direction of all these lunatics. She had no interest in attracting anyone.
The two-day break passed quickly.
Gu Qiqi took the chance to learn more about the game’s world and mechanics with the help of the system.
[System: No need to take things so seriously, Host. In this game world, every setting exists to serve the chaotic and unpredictable plot.]
Gu Qiqi tightened the straps of her small backpack, mentally preparing herself for what came next.
The two-day break passed quickly.
Gu Qiqi took the opportunity to catch up on the game system’s worldbuilding with the help of the system.
[System: Host, no need to take everything so seriously. Every setting in this game exists purely to serve chaotic and clumsy plot developments.]
Still, Gu Qiqi tightened the straps on her backpack.
Even if that were true, she figured that since she had been given a second chance, any knowledge she gained was hers to keep.
Studying couldn’t possibly be a mistake.
Gu Qiqi looked up at the grand, imposing 330 Military Academy and walked in with determination.
But as soon as she stepped onto campus, she felt something strange.
The surrounding alphas were giving her sharp, hostile looks—like they were on edge, guarding their territory against an intruder.
“Why does she smell like so many omegas?”
“Wasn’t she from the Outer District? She only got accepted into 330 because her spiritual power was too high to ignore. How could someone like that get close to so many omegas?”
Gu Qiqi blinked. “What?”
What kind of garbage were these people whispering behind her back?
Then someone muttered, “No wonder that scent smelled familiar, it’s—”
Two students had been following behind her, chattering nonstop like a pair of unhinged stalkers. They were getting on her nerves.
Gu Qiqi had just arrived at her classroom and put down her bag. She turned, ready to confront them and ask what their problem was—when a sudden sense of danger kicked in.
She reacted on instinct, dodging just in time to avoid a punch aimed straight at her.
Her wolf-like eyes widened slightly as she stared at the alpha in front of her—clearly hostile, and both fast and strong.
“Wen Rui?” she blurted out.
The woman standing there had a high ponytail and wore a black tank top. Her face looked exactly like Wen Rui’s—same youthful, almost doll-like features. But the feeling she gave off was completely different. She radiated a fierce, aggressive kind of energy.
[System: Host, that’s Wen Cheng—Wen Rui’s twin sister. She’s an alpha. The Wen family has long believed in a ‘twin curse’—that the birth of twins marks the beginning of the family’s downfall. That’s why Wen Rui was abandoned in the Outer District as a child. She survived and made her way back on her own. For the sake of saving face, the Wen family didn’t make a public issue out of it. After all, this is the Interstellar Federation—if they started talking about ancient superstitions, they’d become a laughingstock.]
Wen Cheng looked like a lion whose territory had been invaded. Her entire body bristled with rage. Her round eyes were slightly red as she stared Gu Qiqi down, nostrils flaring as she tried to trace the scent.
“So you’re the alpha who’s highly compatible with Wen Rui? Why do you also smell like Xiao Bai?”
Gu Qiqi blinked. “Huh?”
Was there even a connection between those two things?
“Xiao Bai? You mean Feng Jiying’s assistant? How would I know why I smell like her?” Gu Qiqi dropped her guard and leaned down to sniff her own shoulder, completely confused.
“I don’t smell anything. Seriously, what is wrong with your alphas? You’re all constantly sniffing around, talking about pheromones this and pheromones that. Are you all completely insane?”
After Gu Qiqi finished speaking, she suddenly noticed a shift in the alphas around her.
The hostility in their eyes vanished—replaced by something else. Pity. Sympathy. Even contempt.
Wen Cheng, seeing that Gu Qiqi didn’t look like she was faking it, lowered her fists and stopped attacking.
“Xiao Bai is my omega. Stay away from her. And… let me give you some advice: Wen Rui is insane. Don’t get too close.”
Gu Qiqi narrowed her eyes. “You don’t seem all that normal yourself.”
…
Since Gu Qiqi didn’t know how to control her pheromone release, the way other alphas kept staring at the omega scent on her body made her skin crawl. It felt like chewed gum stuck to her—disgusting and impossible to shake off.
“Little Qiqi, are you in trouble? Big sister can help you, you know~”
Wen Rui’s voice floated up behind her, and Gu Qiqi instantly felt like a target under a microscope. The sensation was uncomfortable, to say the least.
“So that’s where the scent came from,” Wen Rui murmured softly, her lips curving into a smile. Her fox-like eyes narrowed in amusement.
“No wonder Wen Cheng lost control. You’ve got my scent on you.”
Then she added sweetly, “If you don’t want alphas bothering you anymore, I have a perfect solution. Just cover up the omega scent with something else. Simple, right? Should I help you?”
The infirmary doors shut tight.
Gu Qiqi, now bound at the wrists and ankles, hadn’t expected that Wen Rui’s so-called “solution” would turn out to be her own pheromones.
Wen Rui smiled as she approached. “Don’t worry, little Qiqi. My pheromones smell exactly like Wen Cheng’s. Even though she’s an alpha and I’m an omega, other alphas will smell my scent and instinctively think of her. It’ll make them uncomfortable—so they’ll leave you alone.”
A dusty, medicinal scent drifted from Wen Rui’s body, like ancient herbs left in an old wooden cabinet.
She studied every flicker of expression on Gu Qiqi’s face.
To her surprise, Gu Qiqi truly didn’t react to the pheromones at all.
What an incredibly rare test subject.
…
After school, Gu Qiqi swung open the car door and dropped into the seat with a thud.
Feng Jiying, every bit the image of a refined city elite, paused mid-sip with her coffee cup in hand. Her brows drew together slightly.
“What’s that smell?”
