Reborn as a Scummy Alpha, I Became Every Heroine's Obsession (GL) - Chapter 18
The system’s voice suddenly shifted, turning into a barrage of noisy, overlapping bullet-screen comments.
[System]: Is this that iconic scene from the trailer?
[System]: Why is it Gu Qiqi again? Is she really the main character? Why is it always her ending up with the Omega?
[System]: Thought it was getting spicy last time, but nothing happened in the end. Twice.
[System]: Omegas are always pretty, but why are the Alphas all so ugly?
[System]: Stop arguing. This setup is perfect for that kind of scene. Just let it happen already. How far into the plot are we anyway?
Gu Qiqi clenched her fists tightly.
The thought that her fate was being dictated by these people these spectators, these voyeurs infuriated her. She was never meant to be a brainless side character to amuse them.
Gu Qiqi snapped, “Shut up!”
Liu Huaiqing flinched. “I… I didn’t say anything.”
Gu Qiqi paused, then said, “…I wasn’t talking to you.”
The chaotic voices from the system continued to buzz in her mind. She realized she had to get out of this room fast—otherwise, the barrage wouldn’t stop.
Liu Huaiqing stared at her blankly, her expression dazed. “It hurts… please, mark me.”
Gu Qiqi narrowed her eyes. “Didn’t your sensitivity period already pass? Did they drug you to force it back? If they kidnapped you and triggered your sensitivity phase, why didn’t they just mark you? It’s been three days since you were taken. That’s more than enough time to move you somewhere else or sell you. So why were you left here—easy to track, easy to rescue by 330 Military Academy?”
The air was thick with Liu Huaiqing’s pheromones—so strong it felt like a library full of dusty old books had exploded.
But Gu Qiqi’s eyes remained clear, unfazed, unaffected.
Liu Huaiqing was now sweating visibly. Her fine hair clung to her face as her body trembled.
“You… you’re not affected by pheromones?”
The usual calm, poised look in Liu Huaiqing’s eyes was gone, replaced by visible shock.
Gu Qiqi turned sharply, her gaze landing on the ceiling behind her.
Then it clicked.
In the original game storyline, she had also been controlled by the system. Her background was largely the same.
She had awakened 3S+ level mental strength after her secondary gender differentiation and was granted special entry into the central city and the elite 330 Academy.
But back then, limited by her scripted role, she was forced to entangle herself with Feng Jiying, Wen Rui, and Liu Huaiqing.
She’d become a source of chaos for all three—and ultimately met a tragic end.
She remembered it clearly now.
Just like this, Liu Huaiqing had appeared delicate and helpless, lowering her head to reveal the back of her neck, offering up her flushed gland, begging to be marked.
But what Gu Qiqi hadn’t seen then was the camera hidden behind her, recording everything.
That footage had been uploaded to the Federation’s interstellar network. The entire galaxy had watched it and judged her.
So, this Liu Huaiqing… was never an easy target.
Gu Qiqi narrowed her eyes. “So, this was all a setup? Everyone outside—they’re with you?”
Liu Huaiqing’s expression changed. Her brows furrowed tightly, and she bit her lip—but said nothing.
It had happened exactly like this before.
Liu Huaiqing lowered her head in the same fragile, submissive way, exposing the back of her delicate neck, her flushed gland clearly visible as she pleaded to be marked.
But a surveillance camera had been recording her from behind, capturing everything. The footage was later uploaded to the Federation’s interstellar network, and the entire galaxy judged Gu Qiqi for what they saw.
Liu Huaiqing had never been someone easy to deal with.
Gu Qiqi stared at her and asked coldly, “So this was all staged? Those people outside are working with you?”
Liu Huaiqing’s expression changed. Her brows tightened, and she bit her lower lip, but she said nothing.
Gu Qiqi continued, “Next time, you might want to use a pinhole camera. Much harder to notice. That big obvious one aimed right at me was impossible to ignore. What really surprised me was that Gu Qingyun and Song Lin turned out to be your people.”
Liu Huaiqing couldn’t hide her frustration. “How did you figure it out?”
Gu Qiqi crouched in front of her, raised a hand, and used her finger to tilt Liu Huaiqing’s chin slightly upward so their eyes met. She smiled casually and said, “Instinct.”
Liu Huaiqing looked at her with disbelief. “You’re from the outer districts. Why would you willingly serve the central city?”
Gu Qiqi replied, “I don’t serve anyone.”
Liu Huaiqing scoffed. “If you hadn’t interfered, this could have caused much more damage. When Wen Cheng gave you the order, why didn’t you refuse?”
Gu Qiqi pulled out her terminal and waved it in front of Liu Huaiqing. “Why would I? She paid me 100,000 credits. You’re so smart. You put together such a complex plan. Why didn’t you eliminate all the variables? If you’d offered me 50,000, maybe things would have turned out the way you wanted.”
She paused, then said with a sharper tone, “You’re ruthless. You forced yourself into a sensitivity phase. Without a suppressant, you’ll do permanent damage to your glands. I’ve already gone easy on you. I kept my voice low and whispered everything so nothing was caught on camera. That should make your editing job easier.”
She straightened up, brushing the dust off her clothes. “Gu Qingyun is an Alpha. You trust her that much? Want me to call her up here to help relieve you?”
She turned to leave, no longer interested in playing along with Liu Huaiqing’s performance.
Behind her, the metal cuffs holding Liu Huaiqing’s wrists suddenly released. Her arms dropped weakly by her sides.
With the last bit of strength she had, Liu Huaiqing reached out and grabbed Gu Qiqi’s wrist.
She looked up at her, eyes burning with obsession and a hint of cruelty. “Mark me.”
Gu Qiqi glanced over her shoulder with visible irritation. “Can’t you ask someone else for once?”
She wasn’t affected by pheromones.
But Liu Huaiqing was.
During a sensitivity phase, Omegas became hypersensitive to any pheromone presence. Even the faintest trace was enough to trigger a desperate reaction, like a person freezing in winter clinging to the last bit of warmth they could find.
System notification: Host, please leave this area immediately. Due to overwhelming player complaints, this scene will revert to the original plot in three minutes, initiating a forced event sequence that includes inappropriate and uncontrollable content.
Gu Qiqi raised her hand and slapped Liu Huaiqing hard across the face, breaking through the haze of pheromones clouding her mind.
The sharp crack echoed in the room, and for a brief moment, Liu Huaiqing’s eyes regained clarity.
Gu Qiqi said coldly, “I don’t care what your intentions were. But I know one thing. The people in power in the central city will never change because of an Alpha or Omega from the outer districts. Sacrificing yourself won’t move the hearts of cold-blooded butchers. If they had any conscience, you wouldn’t have needed to carry out this plan in the first place.”
She paused, then added, “Besides, that slap was fifty percent payback—for using me—and fifty percent to settle a personal debt you owe me.”
Liu Huaiqing’s hands dropped limply. She didn’t bother to cover the bright red mark on her cheek. A trace of bl00d stained the corner of her mouth.
Even so, she radiated a broken, fragile beauty.
“Thank you,” she whispered. “Take me with you. Name your price. I’ll pay anything.”
Gu Qiqi raised her hand again.
Liu Huaiqing flinched slightly, her eyes widening, unsure if another slap was coming.
Instead, a faint golden glow began to form in Gu Qiqi’s palm. Within seconds, a pheromone suppressant candy materialized from her condensed spiritual energy.
“Eat this. It’ll ease the symptoms.”
Before Liu Huaiqing could react, Gu Qiqi had already pressed the candy into her mouth.
As it melted on her tongue, a wave of cooling sweetness spread through her body, calming her nerves and soothing her sensitivity. It wasn’t a mark. It wouldn’t leave any permanent effects.
Gu Qiqi added, “One hundred thousand credits. No haggling. Same price I sell to Feng Jiying.”
Liu Huaiqing stared at her in silence.
Gu Qiqi shrugged. “Come on, Miss Liu. Don’t get sentimental now. Also, stop thinking about using that little blade you hid in your shoe. If it slips, you’ll be the one bleeding out.”
Just as she turned to leave, her wrist was grabbed again.
Liu Huaiqing looked up with tired eyes. “I can’t walk. Carry me.”
She was the picture of a classic southern beauty—elegant and soft-spoken, always draped in a flowing qipao, delicate yet commanding in her own way.
“I paid you,” she added, curling her arms around Gu Qiqi’s neck. “I deserve at least this much service. Otherwise, I might have to withhold payment.”
Gu Qiqi let out a short laugh. “Seriously?”
Liu Huaiqing leaned into her, head resting gently on Gu Qiqi’s shoulder. As if casually, her gaze flicked up toward the ceiling.
“By the way, I forgot to mention,” she said. “That wasn’t just a surveillance camera. It’s live streaming. Song Lin already connected it to the interstellar media network. So your heroic rescue has been broadcast across the central city. You’re welcome.”
She leaned closer to Gu Qiqi’s ear and whispered, “According to federal law, if an Alpha injures an Omega without cause, they’ll be expelled from the central city. If you don’t want to be thrown out, you better behave. Congratulations, Gu Qiqi—you’re officially part of my team now.”
Gu Qiqi smirked. She stopped directly in front of the camera and raised her voice clearly, annunciating every word.
“Liu Huaiqing—Miss Liu—claims to have fallen in love with me at first sight. Even though I did save her, that doesn’t mean I need her throwing herself at me. I hope she has a little self-respect and stops flattering herself.”
Liu Huaiqing’s previously smug expression froze.
Feng Corporation Headquarters
In the main office, the live footage of Gu Qiqi carrying Liu Huaiqing and delivering her sharp retort played across the large display screen.
Xiao Bai wiped a bead of cold sweat from her forehead. She hesitated, then finally spoke.
“President, the coffee spilled.”
According to the calendar, the President’s sensitivity cycle should have ended at midnight two days ago.
Why was she still affected?
Was Gu Qiqi’s pheromone strong enough to transmit through an interstellar broadcast?
