Reborn as a Scummy Alpha, I Became Every Heroine's Obsession (GL) - Chapter 3
Gu Qiqi stared at Feng Jiying’s face as it drew closer.
She held her breath.
So this really was one of those “forbidden” romance games. The kind where a single slip sent the plot spiraling straight into scenes that couldn’t be shown in public.
She wasn’t going to walk the same tragic path her character had been written for.
Gu Qiqi pushed Feng Jiying’s face away with one hand and quickly slipped out from under the table.
“I thought President Feng was supposed to be a respectable person,” she said. “Turns out, you’re no better than those cunning businessmen.”
Feng Jiying remained still in her crouched position, her expression unreadable. She rubbed her thumb and index finger together, then slowly rose to her feet.
She let out a short, mocking laugh.
But her face stayed cold and distant, as emotionless as ever.
“Miss Gu,” she said flatly, “you’re in no position to make that judgment.”
When she remembered how Gu Qiqi had crushed that cube of pheromones earlier in the lounge, a strange feeling of regret stirred in her chest—though her face showed none of it.
Gu Qiqi reached for her neck, touching the collar around it, puzzled.
Feng Jiying answered plainly, “You’re required to stay here for the next three months.”
Gu Qiqi’s hands clenched into fists.
Three months.
She didn’t want her sister and the kids at the orphanage to keep suffering in the outer zones.
Feng Jiying sat down on the sofa, picked up a stack of documents from the coffee table, crossed her legs, and began flipping through them without much interest.
“It’s been twenty years since an Alpha with an S-level or higher mental strength appeared in the outer zones. Your first test came back at 3S+. The Federation sees you as extremely valuable. They ran a large-scale genetic matching program across the galaxy, pairing top Omegas with you. Unfortunately, I, Wen Rui, and Liu Huaiqing all scored the highest compatibility.”
She paused for a moment, her hand stilling on the page.
Alphas really were the worst—possessive, arrogant, and entitled. Even when it came to gene matching, they couldn’t settle for one. They always assumed every Omega should belong to them.
It was exactly why she couldn’t stand dealing with Alphas.
Gu Qiqi asked simply, “So?”
Feng Jiying stood and walked toward her.
She was tall, and with her heels on, she was three centimeters taller than Gu Qiqi.
Looking down slightly, her face remained cool and detached. “You have no background. To the Federation, you’re cheap, easy to control, and useful. They want to squeeze every bit of value out of you. Your 3S+ mental strength is rare. So they arranged for you to spend three months with each of us. They call it ‘bonding time,’ but in truth, it’s just matchmaking disguised as something else. The Federation doesn’t dare force anything now, not with how connected the world is. But the pressure’s still there.”
Her tone remained level, but her meaning was clear.
“If we both get through the next three months without incident, I’ll give you a blank check. You can write whatever amount you want.”
Gu Qiqi immediately understood what she meant by “without incident.”
In a game like this—one that danced around explicit content—most of the main characters spent their days caught up in flirtation, drama, and more.
She asked quietly, “What’s this thing around my neck?”
Feng Jiying answered, “You just turned eighteen. Your mental strength is too high, and your pheromones are unstable. That collar helps regulate it. It stops you from releasing too much and losing control.”
Gu Qiqi had grown up in the outer zones. To put it bluntly, she was a backwater kid. She’d never seen anything like this kind of high-tech device.
She didn’t think much of the collar.
In fact, if it could help her keep control and avoid losing her mind to her instincts, it was a good thing.
Because if anything actually happened between her and Feng Jiying…
She already knew exactly how that story would end.
Just like in the game: she’d be reduced to nothing but a tool, stripped of control.
Gu Qiqi asked, “So… how exactly does this thing work?”
She tugged at the collar around her neck, frowning. She couldn’t figure it out.
The black collar really did resemble something you’d put on a dog. Except, instead of a bell in the center, there was a small circular light that blinked softly.
Feng Jiying remained silent. Her throat moved slightly as she swallowed, but she didn’t answer.
Instead, she lightly rubbed her thumb and index finger together.
Suddenly, Gu Qiqi caught a faint scent in the air. It was oddly familiar—something she thought she had smelled back in the rest lounge. It was faint, subtle.
Her pheromone sensitivity was too high to react much to lower-level pheromones, so she didn’t realize it was coming from Feng Jiying.
At home, Feng Jiying had taken off her usual blazer. She wore a loose-fitting shirt, the top buttons undone to reveal her collarbone. The sleeves were rolled up casually to her elbows. She looked composed and restrained, the very picture of self-control.
There was a kind of cold, perfect beauty about her—one that made people want to tear it apart just to see what lay underneath.
Feng Jiying finally spoke. “It requires identity verification.”
Gu Qiqi blinked. “What?”
Feng Jiying’s tone remained calm. “The scanner beneath the collar is designed to recognize body temperature and saliva for genetic confirmation. The Federation had this collar custom-made for you. Once it’s activated, it can’t be removed for three months. It’s also targeted—only the Omega who completes the genetic scan will be less affected by your pheromones.”
Gu Qiqi listened carefully, processing every word.
So… she was going to be forcibly bound to someone for three months.
And the person expected to activate the collar—through body temperature and saliva recognition—was Feng Jiying?
Wait… if the collar can’t be taken off once it’s on, and it needs oral temperature and saliva to activate…
Of course. Of course. This whole thing really was a borderline adult-only game system. The developers had come up with the most twisted way imaginable to implement “genetic confirmation.” She almost had to admire how creative—and messed up—it was.
Gu Qiqi asked cautiously, “You’re not seriously going to…”
Feng Jiying let out a cold laugh. “Don’t flatter yourself. You’re just a barely-grown Alpha. Don’t assume your pheromones can affect me.”
Then she paused, as if something had come to mind. When she spoke again, her voice was laced with mockery and sharpness.
“The outer zones are filthy and cruel. Central City is the wealthiest, most advanced, and most privileged place in the country. People would kill for a chance to escape the outskirts and live here. You must really treasure your current status. As long as you keep your 3S+ mental strength, you can stay in Central City for life.”
She took a step closer, her voice now quieter but much colder.
“I may have been forced to accept the Federation’s order to spend three months with you. But don’t think for a second that the Feng family is someone you can afford to provoke. If, during these three months, you step out of line or show any signs of harming others—remember, you’ve just awakened your powers, and you’re not strong enough to fight back—I can destroy your mental core.”
Her words cut like ice.
“And once your mental strength is gone, the Federation won’t protect you. They’ll kick you out of Central City without a second thought. You’ll be tossed back into the outskirts, where you’ll spend the rest of your life scraping by as a powerless nobody.”
Gu Qiqi didn’t think Feng Jiying was just trying to intimidate her.
She knew Feng Jiying was completely capable of carrying out everything she said.
After all, under the control of the original system, Gu Qiqi’s ending had been nearly identical to the fate Feng Jiying had just threatened her with.
So she responded simply, “Okay.”
Still, that cold, dismissive tone and the way Feng Jiying looked at her—like she was nothing but an ant—was hard to ignore.
Gu Qiqi tilted her head slightly. “President Feng, is there something you’re not quite confident about?”
They were standing close. Gu Qiqi leaned in a little, trying to get a better look at the emotion hidden behind Feng Jiying’s eyes.
Then, with a playful smile, she leaned even closer.
Feng Jiying hated people invading her space, didn’t she?
Well then, no one gets to be comfortable.
Gu Qiqi said teasingly, “You’re famously known for hating Alphas. And since your gender differentiation, you’ve gone through all kinds of pheromone resistance training. Hardly any Alpha has been able to affect you. I just differentiated recently—there’s no way someone like me could really make you nervous, right?”
Feng Jiying had always despised being manipulated. She had to be in control of everything, no exceptions.
Even as a child, she’d questioned everything—why were Alphas allowed to do anything they wanted while Omegas were constantly restricted and forced into boxes?
And now, just because she was an Omega, she was expected to obey the Federation and spend three months with a complete stranger.
“Don’t overstep,” Feng Jiying said coldly. “Don’t think I don’t have other ways to deal with you.”
Gu Qiqi raised her brows and waved her hand casually.
“Don’t get me wrong, President Feng. I’m just a pawn—used and manipulated like a tool. Of course I’d prefer we get along. But I heard something interesting about this collar…”
She tapped the device lightly around her neck.
“I heard it has a shock feature. After genetic confirmation is complete, if the Alpha wearing it develops overly strong emotional attachment to the matched Omega, the collar delivers an electric shock. And the intensity increases every time.”
Feng Jiying’s thumb brushed over her fingertip again, almost unconsciously. “That button can only be activated by you.”
Gu Qiqi grinned.
Her usually sharp and guarded expression softened slightly, and for a moment, she looked relaxed—but dangerous.
The air shifted.
Her pheromones—sweet and rich—spread through the room without warning.
“I don’t mind,” she said with a smile. “But if I’m going to put up with this… I want more money.”
Feng Jiying’s Room
The heavy, sweet scent still lingered in the air and refused to fade.
Feng Jiying, usually calm and composed, looked distracted. Her eyes, always so focused, had lost some of their sharpness.
She raised her hand and brought her index finger to her nose, pausing for a brief inhale.
At that moment, the AI voice assistant in the room spoke up in its usual robotic tone.
“President Feng, your heart rate has increased. Would you like to take a suppressant? Have you entered another sensitive period?”
Feng Jiying frowned and quickly lowered her hand. “Be quiet.”
She turned and walked toward the controls. “Turn on the air purification system. I’m not in a sensitive period. I’m not being affected by pheromones.”
Annoying AI.
And even more annoying… Gu Qiqi.
