Reborn as a Scummy Alpha, I Became Every Heroine's Obsession (GL) - Chapter 8
Although Gu Qiqi wasn’t sensitive to pheromones, she could still tell that the bitter coffee scent in the car had faded slightly.
She could also see that Feng Jiying had returned to normal—her eyes were much clearer now, no longer clouded with confusion like before.
Both of them instinctively moved to sit at opposite ends of the car seat, leaving enough space between them for two more people.
But the more Gu Qiqi thought about it, the more unwilling she felt. She turned to Feng Jiying, stretching out her hand.
“President Feng, you’re so wealthy and always keep your word—so why was the five million you promised me a lie? You knocked me out, dragged me to the Feng family villa, put this collar on me, and I did everything you asked. Even when you were in heat, I didn’t hurt you. Isn’t that worth a little reward? Or is a bonus too much to ask?”
Feng Jiying looked out the window and responded in her usual calm, cool voice. “You were the one who broke the contract first. No one’s money comes from nowhere. Even if I’m wealthy, I don’t spend recklessly. Don’t think that just because you’re an alpha, you can act however you want.”
Gu Qiqi went quiet.
Because—truthfully—Feng Jiying had a point.
She slowly turned back around to face the window.
Feng Jiying’s gaze shifted slightly, and she glanced at Gu Qiqi from the corner of her eye without making it obvious.
Gu Qiqi didn’t exactly look heartbroken—just quiet. But that silence made her resemble a little stray pup, begging for food only to be turned away.
After their earlier standoff, Gu Qiqi’s naturally wild wolf-cut hair looked even more messy and fluffy.
Somehow, she didn’t look quite so annoying anymore.
Feng Jiying said, “The 330 Military Academy holds a major assessment every six months. The top three receive scholarships. There are also monthly mini assessments. The amount of scholarship money varies based on your performance. How much you earn depends entirely on your own ability.”
Gu Qiqi squinted her mischievous eyes. “Sounds like a lot of hassle.”
Then, moving fast and with overwhelming control, she suddenly turned around and grabbed both of Feng Jiying’s wrists. With her other hand, she pressed down on the pheromone suppressant patch at the back of Feng Jiying’s neck.
A smirk curled on her lips.
Her youthful body radiated energy, and her pheromones flooded the car like a wave.
“Sure, the collar suppresses most of my pheromones after genetic confirmation,” she said softly. “But for an omega in heat like you, this much is more than enough. If you don’t want to lose control and become a slave to pheromones—just a toy ruled by instinct—then maybe you should quietly hand over that five million you promised. I never said I was a good person.
“Otherwise, by the time your house’s security system responds, I’ll have already marked you. You’re rich, you’re smart—you know better than anyone which option benefits you most. And don’t forget, we’re a perfect genetic match, forced by the President himself to spend three months together. Even if you scream until your voice breaks, no one’s coming to save you out here.”
Feng Jiying’s body trembled slightly.
But her expression remained composed, as if Gu Qiqi’s words had no effect on her at all.
An omega in heat was far more sensitive than usual.
The cool fingertips brushing against the back of her neck—just one second, and the suppressant patch could be torn off. Then her body would no longer be able to resist. She would be wrapped in pheromones, collapsing into Gu Qiqi’s arms, begging for comfort, craving relief.
Yet Feng Jiying remained calm and steady, her voice quiet but firm. “Go ahead and try.”
In any standoff, the one who faltered first would lose.
Gu Qiqi gave a slow, playful smile. Her fingers traced gently around the edge of the suppressant patch, teasing but not quite touching.
The car wasn’t even hot—the air conditioner was on—but a thin layer of sweat had already formed on Feng Jiying’s cheeks and neck.
Strands of hair had fallen from her temple and stuck to the angle of her jaw.
Gu Qiqi, ever so thoughtful, reached out and brushed them aside.
Gu Qiqi spoke calmly, her tone half teasing, half serious.
“President Feng, why go through all this trouble? No matter how strong your will is, you can’t completely ignore the effects of pheromones on your body. Instead of suffering through it, wouldn’t it be smarter to pay a small price? A bit of money that’s barely noticeable to someone like you—yet it could buy peace between us. You’re a businesswoman. You should know how to weigh the pros and cons.”
Feng Jiying’s fingertips moved slightly, but her eyes remained fixed straight ahead.
After a moment of tense silence between them, her cool voice finally broke the stillness.
“…Alright.”
She reached into her pocket and took out the black card once again.
But this time, Gu Qiqi didn’t fall for it. Her eyes narrowed, and she pulled back slightly.
“Don’t even think about fooling me again, President Feng.”
Without arguing, Feng Jiying simply raised her wrist and activated her personal terminal. She brought it close to Gu Qiqi’s wrist.
Beep.
A soft sound confirmed the link.
Gu Qiqi looked down in surprise as her wrist lit up and a virtual interface appeared in front of her.
So this was the Central City pass that everyone had.
People from the Outer District didn’t have anything like this.
That was why some of the more vicious people in Central City would smuggle in omegas from the Outer District. Without terminals, they didn’t officially exist. If they were killed, they wouldn’t even be registered—just another nameless corpse.
Gu Qiqi smiled, finally feeling a sense of satisfaction. She tucked the black card securely into her chest.
Being the “bad girl” wasn’t so bad. Five million credits—just like that. Who’d still want to work hard after this?
She couldn’t wait to bring her sister and the children to Central City. She wanted them to have access to real schools, real futures. She wouldn’t let them suffer like she once had.
When they arrived at the Feng family villa, Feng Jiying stepped out of the car first. She glanced over at Gu Qiqi and said,
“After genetic confirmation, omega and alpha pairs aren’t allowed to be apart for more than thirty minutes within the first forty-eight hours. Otherwise, the system will trigger a continuous alarm. I’d prefer not to let this interfere with my work.”
Gu Qiqi frowned. “But I have school. I can’t stay with you the whole time.”
“You’re off tomorrow and the day after,” Feng Jiying replied calmly.
Gu Qiqi rubbed her nose awkwardly. “…Right.”
—
Back in her room, Feng Jiying walked in and, with visible irritation, tugged open the top two buttons of her shirt. She dropped onto the clean, luxurious bed, covered her eyes with one arm, and lay still.
Her personal AI system chimed in with a bright, mechanical voice:
[President, your heart rate is elevated. Would you like me to play literature from early human civilization to help you relax?]
Feng Jiying didn’t answer.
[Now playing classic pre-human music: “Who Is My Groom.”]
“Who~ is my… groom? Don’t~ make me keep… looking around… Don’t~ make me…”
Feng Jiying slowly pressed her hand against her pheromone gland.
Her expression remained calm as ever—like she was meditating, composed and emotionless.
But her fingers couldn’t suppress the heat rising under her skin, nor the subtle trembling from the ache in her gland. The reaction was uncontrollable, no matter how cold her surface appeared.
As for Gu Qiqi, now that the black card had been activated and she could use it freely, she was in a fantastic mood. She’d slept deeply and peacefully through the night.
When she woke up the next morning, Feng Jiying was already downstairs, eating breakfast.
When Gu Qiqi saw the dark circles under Feng Jiying’s eyes, she noticed but didn’t think too much of it. After all, Feng Jiying was a high-ranking executive with a lot on her plate—it wasn’t surprising she looked tired.
Gu Qiqi asked casually, “President Feng, why were you showering so early in the morning?”
Feng Jiying’s hair was still damp, the ends clinging to her shirt. Even the collar of her blouse was slightly wet.
But Feng Jiying didn’t answer the question. Instead, she elegantly set her chopsticks down and spoke evenly.
“We still have about 40 hours left under the proximity requirement. So, you’ll be coming to the company with me.”
Gu Qiqi blinked. “Huh?”
It was supposed to be her day off—and now she had to go to work?
She had only recently gone through her gender differentiation, and her spiritual power was rated at 3S+, far too high for someone untrained. And growing up in the Outer District, she never had access to proper education or training for that.
Feng Jiying had already noticed that whenever Gu Qiqi’s emotions got unstable, her pheromones and mental energy would react uncontrollably.
Like right now—Gu Qiqi was glaring at her with those sharp little wolf eyes, clearly not wanting to cooperate. The pressure from her spiritual power was already making the air feel heavier.
Feng Jiying reminded her calmly, “You need to learn how to control your mental power—including your pheromones.”
“In Central City, children start learning this from a young age. If you want to integrate into Central City society, you can’t be an outlier. Alpha pheromones affect omegas. If an omega enters a heat phase and releases pheromones, it can affect alphas within a 30-meter radius. That qualifies as a Class B public safety risk. If it happens three times, even with high compatibility, you’ll still be expelled from Central City.”
Gu Qiqi shrugged. “I don’t know how.”
Anyway, as long as she avoided the cannon-fodder route of the original game storyline, she’d be fine for the next three months of this forced match with Feng Jiying.
She wasn’t scared of Feng Jiying’s threats.
With a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips, she said, “Fine, I’ll go. No need for the lecture, President Feng. Just pay me.”
Feng Jiying didn’t like domineering alphas, nor did she like indecisive omegas. That was why she only had a beta as her personal assistant.
All her personal affairs were handled by Hanhan, her AI system.
In the car, which was on autopilot, soft music played in the background.
With her pheromones suppressed, Gu Qiqi started to feel a little sleepy.
Feng Jiying was staring out the window when her expression suddenly changed. She frowned.
The car’s navigation had started drifting off its set route.
Hanhan’s voice sounded in the car:
[President, I’ve been hacked. It’s a cyberattack.]
During her heat cycle, Feng Jiying always carried suppressants with her—just in case something like this ever happened.
Calm and composed, she opened her terminal and quickly sent out her personal location.
Gu Qiqi glanced over. “What’s going on?”
Feng Jiying’s lips curled into a cold smile, though her eyes remained sharp and dangerous.
“Some shameless alpha still hasn’t given up.”
Gu Qiqi blinked. “What?”
The car came to a stop inside a dark, abandoned parking garage.
Suddenly, a weapon pierced through the window, leaving a gaping hole.
Gu Qiqi wrinkled her nose. “Ugh… What’s that smell?”
Feng Jiying immediately picked up a suppressant and injected it into the gland at the back of her neck.
Her swift, precise movement stunned Gu Qiqi.
Feng Jiying said calmly, “It’s a concentrated alpha pheromone bomb.”
Gu Qiqi’s face darkened. “They’re trying to force you…”
How despicable.
She looked at Feng Jiying, concern flickering in her expression.
“You keep injecting suppressants like that… it could cause permanent damage to your glands. It’s not worth hurting yourself over scum like them.”
Feng Jiying’s hand paused, still holding the syringe.
Then Gu Qiqi gave a sly smile. “Need a little help?”
Feng Jiying raised an eyebrow—but didn’t say no.
Gu Qiqi stepped out of the car. She held her breath for a moment, then opened her eyes wide. Those sharp, wolfish eyes gleamed with boldness, and her tousled wolf-cut hair swayed with the breeze. Her whole presence radiated confidence and defiance.
At the same time, a powerful, overwhelming wave of sweet pheromones burst into the air, completely drowning out the sickening stench of malicious alpha pheromones.
Gu Qiqi leaned to the side, poking her head toward the car window.
“President Feng… that’ll cost you extra.”
Feng Jiying remained seated inside the car, her expression unreadable.
On the surface, she looked just as composed as before—still holding the suppressant in her hand.
But only she could hear it: the sound of her own heartbeat, pounding like a drum.
