Reborn Into A New Life, Everyone Loves Me Now (GL) - Chapter 29
We Will Be Friends Forever
Tightly woven threads seemed to wrap around her heart, each strand pulling tighter, sending waves of dull, stabbing pain through her chest. The ache made Su Qishi clench her teeth—she would not allow anyone to see her weakness.
How foolish she had been…
Had their intentions not been clear enough?
Her mother had never once called her by name.
She had once thought it was because her mother hated her, wanted her dead. She believed her mother did not love the Emperor, and thus couldn’t care less whether their child lived or died.
She believed her father loved her—why else would he, against the protests of court officials, grant her the title of prince, even though she was born a princess? Everyone understood what receiving a princely title meant…
Only she had naïvely thought that things would remain the same even after being titled—never realizing she had already become a pawn in the struggle for the throne.
Her father’s affection… was nothing but a performance.
She should have realized this in her previous life.
Why had she only come to understand it now?
He had been willing to condemn her based solely on her mother’s word—did he ever want her to survive?
The worse her mother treated her,
the more affection her father feigned.
And wasn’t this just the two of them using her to wound each other?
As long as she was Su Qishi,
she was never worthy of love.
But what had she done wrong?
A bitter taste exploded in her mouth, spreading relentlessly.
Her heart felt as if a piece had been torn away, the pain searing her nerves like fire.
Hatred surged from deep within, and her gaze darkened until a heavy gloom filled her eyes.
Her pupils flushed crimson, and her clenched fists began to bleed—bright red seeping through her sleeves, dripping onto the pristine floor of the grand hall, vivid against the white marble.
“Sect Leader,” she said coldly, “why don’t you tell my mother yourself? I believe she would be overjoyed to see you.”
Yang Luoshi replied softly, “The past is done. To meet again… may not be a good thing.”
His tone was layered with sorrow—a sorrow too deep to express.
Su Qishi’s eyes glinted with frost. “The past is done, so why disturb it? In truth… isn’t it just cowardice?”
Yang Luoshi merely gave a bitter smile, silently admitting to her accusation.
She continued, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Sect Leader, why didn’t you fight for her? Was it because you truly couldn’t? Or because you had other things to weigh?”
“Yet my mother’s love for you was true and unwavering.”
“How could you bear to stay away for twenty years?”
“In the end, the three of you—each one more despicable than the next, more hypocritical.”
“You all think yourselves so deep in love, yet you’ve done nothing but force your pain onto the innocent!”
Her words were sharp, slicing through the air as she pointed directly at the man on the jade steps.
Every word struck Yang Luoshi’s heart. There was no place to hide now.
And then, he coughed up bl00d, staggering. He wiped it away as if he were used to the pain.
His voice trembled, weak now. “You’re right… I am a coward. But my love for your mother… was never false.”
Su Qishi’s brows tightened. She let out a cold, mirthless laugh.
“The three of you… truly…”
She sighed deeply, then suddenly laughed aloud—yet in her eyes, tears shimmered.
Turning away, Su Qishi slowly walked toward the exit. As the great doors opened, a beam of sunlight fell across her figure.
She closed her eyes, tilting her head to feel its fleeting warmth.
But a heart that has fallen into darkness… how can it feel warmth again?
Mu Yunqing stepped forward as Su Qishi exited the hall, handing her a bundle wrapped in silk. “These are the Huizhu herbs, prepared on Master’s orders. Please take them, Your Highness.”
Su Qishi accepted them, her fingers clenching tightly around the bundle. “Thank you.”
Mu Yunqing nodded gently, his gaze soft. “There’s no need for thanks, Your Highness…”
Just as he was about to say more, a disciple rushed into the hall behind them, shouting in panic,
“Something’s wrong! The Sect Leader has collapsed—someone, help!”
Mu Yunqing immediately turned and sprinted back into the hall. Disciples who heard the call rushed in as well.
Su Qishi remained standing on the stone steps, her eyes glinting coldly as people brushed past her in chaos. She simply stood there, motionless, as if none of it concerned her.
Inside, someone shouted, “Quick, summon Elder Mu Qing!”
Su Qishi’s deep eyes remained calm, emotionless. Slowly, she turned and began walking toward the sect gates.
Suddenly, a figure in pale green blocked her path, a burst of sword aura slashing toward her.
“The Sect Leader’s condition is unknown—you cannot leave!”
Su Qishi scoffed, “Why are all Ephemeral Blossom Sect disciples dressed in such gaudy colors? Who’s responsible for this lack of taste?”
Then her voice turned cold, “I want to leave—you can’t stop me.”
Yang Nianyue felt humiliated and began to doubt whether this person was truly Senior Aunt Xiao Yue’s daughter.
Nianyue snapped, “Then let’s see if your sword says the same.”
Without another word, she lunged at Su Qishi.
Su Qishi dodged effortlessly, her expression unchanged. After exchanging several blows, she grew weary of Nianyue’s relentless pursuit. Her mood, already frayed, worsened.
With a flick of her wrist, Su Qishi used her sheathed sword to block the next strike. Nianyue was instantly knocked back, eyes wide with disbelief.
Su Qishi glanced at her lazily, “You’re not worthy. Train harder.”
Noticing Nianyue’s furious glare, she smirked wickedly and slowly approached, lowering her head until her lips nearly brushed Nianyue’s ear.
“By the way, I don’t know your name. Why don’t you tell me? I’ll teach you martial arts. I promise you’ll be stronger than you are now.”
At Su Qishi’s proximity, Nianyue froze. Hearing those words, her face flushed red, her anger replaced by flustered indignation.
She shoved Su Qishi away, shouting, “Shameless! You have no shame at all!”
Su Qishi’s smile vanished. Her expression turned ice cold. She shot Nianyue a withering look.
“So this is what Ephemeral Blossom Sect disciples amount to…”
With that, she turned sharply and walked away.
Nianyue clenched her fists but did not follow. Let her run. The world isn’t small. Sooner or later, I’ll repay today’s humiliation.
Su Qishi rode through the night and returned to Yun City, arriving just in time.
At Gao Manor, people waited anxiously outside a room.
Gao Qianqian paced back and forth, her face full of worry and agitation.
Liu Jiangli stood quietly nearby, waiting for Su Qishi to emerge. During their days apart, her longing for A’Shi had only deepened.
In Su Qishi’s absence, Liu Jiangli had reflected on everything they had gone through—in both lifetimes.
She now realized that the hurt she caused A’Shi could not be repaired with mere words.
All she could do now was stay by A’Shi’s side, help her through every hardship.
As long as I can be with A’Shi… that’s enough.
After what felt like forever, the door finally opened. Su Qishi stepped out.
Gao Qianqian rushed forward. “Sister, how is my father?”
Su Qishi’s lips were slightly pale. She gently patted Gao Qianqian’s shoulder, her voice steady and reassuring.
“Don’t worry. Your father is out of danger now, but he will need proper rest and care.”
Hearing this, Gao Qianqian’s face lit up with joy. “Thank you, Sister.”
Su Qishi stepped aside, signaling that Qianqian could go in. The girl gave her a grateful look before turning to enter the room.
At that moment, Liu Jiangli quietly approached and called softly, “A’Shi.”
Su Qishi said nothing, walking away without even a glance.
A flicker of sadness passed through Liu Jiangli’s beautiful eyes, but she followed closely behind, silently keeping pace.
Suddenly, Su Qishi stopped and spoke coldly. “Stop following me.”
Liu Jiangli froze, uncertain, watching as Su Qishi’s figure grew smaller, her heart heavy with helplessness. She wanted to run after her—but feared it would only make A’Shi despise her more.
Night fell, cloaking the courtyard in silver light under a bright full moon.
At the center of the courtyard, the two women sat at a stone table, where fine wine and delicacies had been set.
Gao Qianqian raised her cup to Su Qishi, her eyes shimmering with gratitude.
“This drink is to honor you, Sister. Without you, my father would never have recovered.”
Su Qishi lifted her cup, gently clinking it against Qianqian’s, then drank it in one smooth motion.
“You don’t need to be so formal, Qianqian.”
From behind a stone wall nearby, Liu Jiangli quietly watched their warm interaction, a strange emotion stirring in her heart. Though she knew nothing romantic would develop between them, she couldn’t help feeling an uneasy sense of danger.
Gao Qianqian smiled brightly. “May I ask what you do in the capital, Sister? With your poise and grace, you must come from a noble family.”
Su Qishi’s expression turned distant. “All I know is that I was born in a place full of schemes and manipulation. Everyone there has their own ambitions. They claim to act for my sake… yet only cause harm.”
Gao Qianqian’s brows furrowed. She hadn’t expected Su Qishi to come from such a dark world. Her heart filled with quiet sympathy.
“Sister… you saved my father’s life. If you don’t mind, you may consider Gao Manor your home from now on.”
Su Qishi was stunned, staring at Qianqian with complex emotion flickering in her eyes.
“Qianqian… aren’t you afraid I’ll bring danger to your family?”
But Qianqian replied without hesitation, “No. I trust you.”
A silence fell between them. Su Qishi looked down and drained another cup of wine, the burning liquid searing away the storm in her chest.
After a long pause, Su Qishi spoke, “Qianqian… my surname is Su.”
That name—Su—the royal name, revealed everything.
Gao Qianqian did not look surprised. In truth, she had suspected it since the day they met.
“Sister… I had a feeling. But for you to tell me yourself… does that mean you truly see me as a friend?”
Su Qishi nodded slightly. Then, with a serious tone, she said,
“Power struggles in the court are intense. Every noble family is scheming to seize control. And the Gao family’s wealth—it’s a prize everyone covets.”
“Qianqian… I hope we can be friends forever.”
She didn’t need to say more. Qianqian was smart—she would understand. All Su Qishi could do was give her time to decide.
No one can remain untouched in a battle for the throne.
Qianqian knew that Gao Manor couldn’t stay neutral forever. The only way to survive was to find a powerful ally—and Su Qishi seemed like the best choice. But she didn’t answer right away.
“Sister, this isn’t a small matter. I must discuss it with my father before deciding.”
Su Qishi smiled faintly. “Of course.”
Qianqian then asked, “When will you return to the capital?”
Su Qishi glanced into the distance. “Tomorrow. Court politics shift by the hour. One misstep, and everything collapses.”
Qianqian’s eyes darkened with concern. “I will give you my answer tomorrow morning.”
Su Qishi’s lips curled into a subtle smile.
She knew Qianqian would say yes.
That night, they finally returned to their rooms. Su Qishi, slightly tipsy from the wine, entered her chamber. The liquor was strong, and now the alcohol fogged her mind. She lay down in the darkness, everything spinning.
She didn’t know how long she had slept. A cool, damp cloth touched her face—someone was wiping her brow.
Su Qishi slowly opened her eyes, just enough to see a faint figure seated by the bed. The figure froze, startled by her gaze, and pulled back their hand—only to have their wrist seized by Su Qishi’s sudden grip.
Liu Jiangli’s ears turned red, and she hesitated, unsure if she should explain.
Su Qishi’s voice was cold, cutting through the stillness.
“I know you heard everything tonight. Let me warn you—if any word of it leaks, you will die a terrible death.”
