Redeeming That Beautiful, Strong, and Tragic Omega [Transmigration] - Chapter 6
“Are you out of your mind?” Wen Yan was stunned. Just how deranged was the author of this book to write a character who forces others to keep pursuing Xu Mingxin?
Wen Yan shook off her hand and stepped back. “Don’t come any closer. I’ll let it slide this time, but if you take another step, I won’t be so polite!”
With that, Wen Yan brandished her fist, which was as big as a clay pot. Perhaps still shaken by the earlier scene at the banquet, she glanced back nervously every few steps as she retreated, but the Silver-Haired Alpha didn’t follow.
Back at the villa, Wen Yan greeted Aunt Wang and hurried upstairs. She had just slipped out of her evening gown when the bedroom door, which she had left slightly ajar, was pushed open.
“Holy sh1t!” Wen Yan clutched at her chest, covering her exposed cleavage. A black-haired maid with blunt bangs entered. “Why didn’t you knock before coming in?” Wen Yan stammered.
The maid looked puzzled. “Master, didn’t you say before that I didn’t need to knock when you were changing and could come in to assist you?”
Wen Yan vaguely remembered the Original Owner having this obnoxious habit. She cleared her throat. “That rule is changed now. You must knock before entering my bedroom. Understand?”
“Understood, Master.”
After changing her clothes, Wen Yan began to think about renovating the villa. Xu Ruozhou would undoubtedly move in after they got married.
The Original Owner had been a complete fool, forcing the female lead to live in a damp, gloomy basement. Only during the female lead’s monthly Omega heat cycle would the Original Owner feign kindness and let her stay in the guest room.
In reality, the guest room was bugged with hidden cameras. The Original Owner loved to sit with the Fake Heiress and watch Xu Ruozhou writhe in agony on the bed after injecting himself with substandard Omega suppressants, his entire body convulsing in a pathetic display.
They would laugh hysterically, even saving the videos to share with others for amusement.
A chill ran down Wen Yan’s spine. No wonder readers had been relentlessly criticizing the author for torturing the female lead in the later chapters of the Original Work.
Considering everything, Xu Ruozhou’s actions—breaking the Original Owner’s leg and driving the Fake Heiress to madness—seemed almost merciful compared to the suffering she had endured over the years.
Wen Yan sighed. Why had she been cursed with being transmigrated into this world?
Of all the characters she could have become, why did she have to become the Original Owner—a villainess with her same name and a relentless drive to self-destruction?
“Master, you seem troubled?”
The voice came from below. Wen Yan lowered her gaze to see a black-haired maid kneeling at her feet, gently wiping the dust from her ankles with a warm towel.
Wen Yan had never been served like this before, and she stiffened, feeling a little guilty. “Oh, I was just thinking about renovating the villa. I spent too much on that Blue Diamond Necklace at the auction, and now we’re running out of funds. If I use company funds, I’m afraid those old fogies at the company will make a fuss again.”
“Master, your account receives new dividends every month. If you wish to renovate the villa, you could offer the workers one- or two-year contracts with slightly higher-than-market wages, paid every six months. I believe many would be willing to work for you under those terms.”
“That’s right!” Wen Yan exclaimed, suddenly realizing the solution. The Original Owner, that spendthrift, had drained the account, leaving her with no cash after paying the villa staff. But the Wen Family was still a prominent player in high society. If she painted a grand enough vision, people would accept those terms to work for her.
“You’re so clever!” Wen Yan’s eyes lit up as she looked at the plain-looking, black-haired maid. “What was your name again?”
“Master, I’m Lin X.”
“Oh, Lin X.”
Lin X?!
Wen Yan’s smile froze on her lips.
Wasn’t Lin X Xu Ruozhou’s most ruthless henchman? Xu Ruozhou couldn’t even bear to look at the Original Owner without disgust—how could he have personally broken her legs?
This kind of dirty work was naturally entrusted to the most ruthless and heartless person. Why hadn’t anyone told her that Lin X, the one who had physically broken her legs, was living right beside her?! Aaaaaaaah!
Wen Yan felt a phantom pain begin to throb in her legs again.
“Master?” the black-haired maid asked, her expression puzzled. “Has Lin X done something wrong?”
“No, no, no,” Wen Yan said with an awkward laugh, swiftly tucking her legs under her and curling up on the sofa, hugging her knees. “You’ve done a wonderful job. I’m very pleased with you.”
“Master, if Lin X has made a mistake, you must tell her. Lin X wants to do better for you.”
Wen Yan forced an awkward yet polite smile. Who would believe that nonsense? I’d be perfectly satisfied if you just stopped breaking my legs in the future.
The fire crackled in the fireplace, and the sound of the rain grew louder through the villa’s open doors. Wen Yan dismissed the maids and sat alone in the living room, trying to recall the key plot points that lay ahead.
Before she knew it, her eyelids began to droop. Just as she was about to drift off, her phone suddenly vibrated. Startled, Wen Yan jolted upright from the sofa. When she saw it was just a text message, her tense nerves finally relaxed.
Who would be messaging the Original Owner so late? Wen Yan opened the flashing red notification and discovered it was a text from Xu Mingxin.
Xu Mingxin had invited her to visit the Xu Family as a guest.
Wen Yan frowned slightly. Why would she invite someone to dinner so late? And after I embarrassed the Fake Heiress tonight, why is she still clinging to me like a moch?
Wen Yan decided to give her the cold shoulder, but moments later, Xu Mingxin sent another message, this time with a photo. Wen Yan impatiently clicked it open, her annoyance vanishing in an instant as her pupils contracted in shock. She rushed to the entryway, grabbed the nearest coat, and plunged into the torrential rain.
“Miss, you forgot your umbrella!” Aunt Wang called after her, taking a few hurried steps.
Wen Yan hailed a tax. The wealthy families mostly lived in the same district, and the Wen and Xu residences were only five or six kilometers apart. Guided by the Original Owner’s memories, she quickly located the Xu Family’s estate.
The villa blazed with lights, its grandeur palpable even from a distance. Smiling servants holding umbrellas dotted the courtyard, yet they all showed the same cold indifference as they passed the drenched, kneeling figure, as if they had grown accustomed to such sights.
The sound of the rain grew more intense as Wen Yan unconsciously crossed the garden and approached the kneeling figure on the cold, hard concrete.
“…Xu Ruozhou?” she ventured tentatively. The kneeling figure by the villa’s entrance seemed to tremble slightly. Wen Yan tried to drape her coat over Xu Ruozhou’s rain-soaked evening gown, but Xu Ruozhou coldly pushed her away.
The black windbreaker had fallen into a deep puddle. Wen Yan, now empty-handed, swallowed hard. “Xu Ruozhou, why are you kneeling here?”
She received no reply. Perhaps Xu Ruozhou didn’t want to speak, or perhaps another voice answered Wen Yan’s question.
“Because she stole something, of course.”
The torrential rain plastered Wen Yan’s bangs to her forehead. She looked up to see Xu Mingxin standing on the steps, dressed in pristine pajamas and expensive Hermès slippers, holding an umbrella. Smiling brightly, she met Wen Yan’s gaze. “Wen Yan-jie~”
Xu Mingxin descended the steps but stopped at the last one, glancing disdainfully at the puddles and the drenched figure kneeling in the rain.
Xu Mingxin smiled sweetly at Wen Yan. “Wen Yan-jie, come inside quickly! The rain is getting heavier, and you’ll catch a cold standing out here.”
“Xu Mingxin, what did Ruo Zhou steal from you?” Wen Yan’s voice trembled as she spoke. Xu Mingxin gave her a puzzled look. “Didn’t I text you about it, Jie?”
“Of course, it’s the Blue Diamond Necklace you gave me!”
“Have you forgotten?” A Xu Family servant descended the steps and respectfully handed Xu Mingxin a rough, small box. Xu Mingxin opened it to reveal the extraordinarily expensive Blue Diamond Necklace.
The soul-stirring, deep blue gem shimmered brilliantly even in the pitch-black night, radiating unparalleled beauty. Xu Mingxin excitedly held the necklace up to her neck, gesturing with it. “Wen Yan-jie, I knew you were just teasing me at the birthday banquet!”
“Xu Mingxin!” Wen Yan clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white with the force. She stepped aside, placing her umbrella over Xu Mingxin to shield her from the torrential rain. “This necklace was clearly…”
…the birthday gift I gave to Xu Ruozhou.
Before Wen Yan could finish, a pair of ice-cold hands gripped her ankle tightly. She turned to see Xu Ruozhou, his face pale and weak, shaking his head at her.
Wen Yan was seething with anger. She bit her trembling lower lip and glared at Xu Mingxin. “How much longer does she have to kneel?”
A sly smile flickered in Xu Mingxin’s eyes. “About three more hours, I suppose.”
“Wen Yan-jie, why do you keep worrying about her? Don’t stand in the rain—come inside.”
“I’m not worried about her. Would you rather I worried about you?”
Xu Mingxin froze. “Wen Yan-jie, are you still angry because I rejected you? I’m too young to think about marriage. Honestly, I value both of you equally!”
“Enough. Stop talking.” Wen Yan’s expression turned icy. She picked up her fallen jacket, shook off the rain, and spread it over the drenched Omega’s head.
“Xu Mingxin, our relationship is over. Xu Ruozhou is my future wife. She stole from the Xu Family, and I’m willing to share the consequences with her.”
The heavy rain pounded against the black windbreaker, which blended almost seamlessly into the night, quickly forming a puddle on its surface.
Xu Mingxin stared at her former ardent pursuer, her sweet voice laced with a hint of malice. “Wen Yan, couldn’t we just go back to how things were before?”
Wen Yan didn’t answer. She stood silently behind Xu Ruozhou’s kneeling figure. A few raindrops that had splashed off Wen Yan’s black windbreaker landed on Xu Mingxin’s instep, prompting her to click her tongue in disdain.
“Since you’re so eager to stay with her, go ahead,” Xu Mingxin said, turning to cast a contemptuous glance at Wen Yan. “It’s not like you’re the only one who likes me anyway.”
What did it matter if she gave this useless man to Xu Ruozhou?
The villa’s gate slammed shut. Amid the white mist of the torrential rain, Wen Yan raised her voice, calling out Xu Ruozhou’s name several times. But he remained unresponsive, his trembling shoulder blades stubbornly held upright.
Wen Yan sighed inwardly, deciding not to press the matter further. Rather than worrying about Xu Ruozhou, she should be more concerned about whether she, the villainess, would succumb to hypothermia and die. After all, Xu Ruozhou had the protagonist’s plot armor buff—she was bound to be fine.
Three hours passed. Wen Yan’s arms were about to give out. The moment the time was up, she immediately lowered her aching arms, finally granting her stiff shoulders and neck some relief.
Wen Yan crouched down and poked Xu Ruozhou’s arm. “Three hours are up. You…”
Feeling the deathly coldness, Wen Yan froze. Trembling, she reached out to check Xu Ruozhou’s breathing.
“Xu Ruozhou!”
