Redeeming That Beautiful, Strong, and Tragic Omega [Transmigration] - Chapter 7
Xu Ruozhou fainted. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling. She tried to move, but her left hand was immobilized by a splint.
A silver needle pierced the vein in her left hand, connected to a bag of medication hanging from a clothes rack beside her. The rack was pressed against the wardrobe and secured with hundreds of strips of tape from top to bottom.
A Beta maid with dark hair entered the room, carrying freshly cooked food. Xu Ruozhou had never seen her before. Her brow furrowed slightly, and she opened her mouth to speak, but no sound came out.
The Beta maid read her lips and replied, “Miss Xu, you’re at the Wen Family residence. You collapsed from hypothermia last night, and our Master brought you back.”
Xu Ruozhou froze momentarily. The last person she remembered seeing before fainting was indeed Wen Yan.
At the time, Wen Yan seemed to be talking to Xu Mingxin, but the rain drowned out their words. She only caught fragments, enough to understand the conversation revolved around her.
Xu Ruozhou recalled the events of the previous night. After Xu Mingxin’s birthday banquet ended, she returned to her bedroom. Before she could even change out of her evening gown, curiosity compelled her to open the small box Wen Yan had given her.
Just then, Xu Mingxin pushed open the door, and they both saw the Blue Diamond Necklace inside the box at almost the same moment. Xu Mingxin immediately called her parents, falsely accusing Xu Ruozhou of theft.
The black-haired maid blew on the porridge to cool it and brought the spoon to Xu Ruozhou’s lips, but Xu Ruozhou coldly turned away. Lin X lowered her lashes and smoothly set down the bowl and chopsticks.
“Miss Xu, please call me if you need anything else.”
Downstairs, Wen Yan saw Lin X emerge from the room and reflexively sprang to her feet. She whispered, “How is she?”
Lin X shook her head. “Master, Miss Xu refuses to eat anything we offer, whether she’s awake or asleep.”
Wen Yan sank back onto the sofa. “Go on, I understand.”
“Master, why don’t you go up yourself? You saved Miss Xu. She must want to thank you in person.”
“Ah, you wouldn’t understand,” Wen Yan sighed. “Go supervise the workers renovating the villa.”
“Yes, Master.”
After much deliberation, Wen Yan quietly pushed open the door to Xu Ruozhou’s room.
The Omega lying on the bed turned her amber eyes toward Wen Yan, who moved to the bedside. Under Xu Ruozhou’s icy gaze, Wen Yan rubbed the back of her head and offered a friendly smile. “H, what a coincidence! We meet again.”
Xu Ruozhou shot her a cold glance, but Wen Yan remained unfazed, continuing, “I was so worried when you fainted last night. Your breathing was so faint. Thank goodness we got you to the hospital in time.”
Xu Ruozhou’s gaze was piercingly cold, causing Wen Yan to shiver and instinctively pull her coat tighter.
Wen Yan understood why Xu Ruozhou was so hostile. The Fake Heiress had discovered the blue diamond necklace immediately after Wen Yan gifted it. Such a coincidence was simply too suspicious.
Wen Yan now suspected that she and Xu Mingxin had clashing elemental affinities. Otherwise, how could she consistently offend the female lead so thoroughly, like a walking jinx?
Under Xu Ruozhou’s frigid stare, Wen Yan sighed and stated bluntly, “Xu Ruozhou, whether you believe me or not, the blue diamond incident was a genuine misunderstanding. I may have a history, but this time I truly didn’t collude with Xu Mingxin!”
“Hmph.”
A cold laugh escaped from the corner of Xu Ruozhou’s lips, which curled into a mocking sneer.
Xu Ruozhou yanked out the IV needle and strode toward Wen Yan. Her aura was so overwhelming that even with her pale, sickly complexion, Wen Yan couldn’t meet her piercing hazel eyes, which seemed to see straight through her.
Wen Yan stared at the floor as Xu Ruozhou’s bruised, kneeling legs drew closer. Soon, she could see the Omega’s pale, rounded toes pressing down hard on her own.
Xu Ruozhou’s crimson lips parted slightly, spitting out the most cutting sarcasm: “Wen Yan, what are you still pretending for?”
Despite being scolded, a warm current surged through the glands at the back of Wen Yan’s neck, making her tremble and even more afraid to look up.
“You didn’t think you could fool me twice, did you?”
“Or did you imagine that by pretending to save me after I fainted, I’d be grateful?”
Wen Yan stood there helplessly. “It’s a misunderstanding. I—I really didn’t do anything.”
Xu Ruozhou shot her a glacial glare. “Is there any point in pretending now?”
Xu Ruozhou curled her lips into a self-mocking smile. Bl00d trickled down her pale veins as she shoved the door open, unwilling to spend another second with this liar.
“Hey, Xu Ruozhou, where are you going?”
Xu Ruozhou descended the stairs, his face cold. “None of your business.”
In the first-floor living room, a black-haired maid holding a broom bowed respectfully as she saw Xu Ruozhou approach. “Miss Xu.”
Xu Ruozhou ignored her, changed into her shoes, and prepared to leave the Wen Family residence. Just as she stepped over the threshold, a pair of pale, icy hands gripped her arm. She turned to see Wen Yan.
The tall Alpha stood before her, her long black hair cascading messily over her shoulders. Her emotions were laid bare in those dark eyes, now filled with urgency.
Xu Ruozhou saw it all clearly, yet couldn’t help but cast her a look of disgust.
She loathed liars, especially those who resorted to such despicable tactics as drugging her and forcibly marking her.
Suddenly, the pheromone concentration in the air surged. Top-tier Du Zisong pheromones swirled around Wen Yan, as if expressing their Master’s displeasure.
“Wen Yan, what are you doing?!”
Xu Ruozhou hadn’t expected her to suddenly release her pheromones. Caught off guard, her legs buckled, physiological tears welled in her eyes, and she nearly collapsed to the floor.
Wen Yan had marked her. Even after taking Omega-specific suppressants and applying pheromone-blocking patches, she still found herself uncontrollably weak under the Alpha’s dominant pheromones.
At the nape of her neck, the gland bearing the lingering bite mark began to secrete a rose-scented fluid, submitting to the pheromones of the top-tier Alpha who had once completely possessed her. It yearned to be marked again, to continue the lineage of their next generation.
Xu Ruozhou gritted his teeth, forcing himself to stand straight. “Wen Yan, don’t even think about forcibly marking me again! I’d rather carve out this disgusting gland you’ve tainted with your pheromones than ever submit to you again!”
“I swear on my pheromones right now to prove I mean it!”
“What did you say?” A crack of astonishment split the lingering anger in Xu Ruozhou’s eyes.
Wen Yan remembered the novel’s setting: Alphas could swear on their pheromones. If they lied, their pheromones would destroy their glands, rendering them incapable of marking Omegas and turning them into useless failures.
“Wen Yan, you’re insane!” Xu Ruozhou bit his lower lip. “Do you even realize what you’re doing?”
Wen Yan swallowed hard, her throat bobbing.
Of course she knew.
But compared to a dispensable gland, she’d rather keep her legs and sever all ties with that cursed fake heiress.
Du Zisong, the top-tier pheromone, sensed his Master’s summons. He ceased his provocative dance with the Rose Pheromone beneath the barrier patch, instead coiling dangerously around Wen Yan’s gland.
As if poised to self-destruct at any moment, ready to obliterate the gland binding him and claim true freedom.
“Xu Ruozhou, you can ask me anything now.”
Xu Ruozhou’s hands, hanging at his sides, clenched involuntarily. Why was Wen Yan going to such lengths?
Was she truly willing to risk becoming a cripple just to prove her innocence?
If Wen Yan lied and could never mark an Omega again, how would he, as the first witness, explain it to the police?
A flicker of hesitation crossed Xu Ruozhou’s eyes. Just then, the black-haired maid, who had been standing silently nearby, suddenly spoke up.
“Miss Xu, every corner of the Wen Family estate, except for the bedrooms, is equipped with surveillance cameras that leave no blind spots.”
After a long pause, the Omega finally lifted his amber eyes with a resolute air. Addressing the Alpha, who was radiating pheromones, he said heavily, “Alright.”
“Wen Yan, did you give me the blue diamond as part of a scheme with Xu Mingxin to frame me for theft and ruin my reputation?”
The Du Zisong pheromone in his gland stirred restlessly, poised to destroy the organ that imprisoned its freedom.
“I didn’t!” Wen Yan’s voice boomed, the three words practically shouted.
The Alpha pheromones that had filled the air gradually dissipated. The Du Zisong pheromone, now subdued, retreated listlessly back into its Master’s gland.
Xu Ruozhou froze in surprise.
Wen Yan was telling the truth.
As the ritual concluded, Wen Yan lowered her raised hand and secretly exhaled in relief.
Thank goodness Ruozhou only asked about the blue diamond. Otherwise, my life might really have been over.
Xu Ruozhou scrutinized her with a complex gaze. After a long pause, she pursed her delicate, red lips and asked, “Why?”
“Huh?” Wen Yan blinked in surprise.
Xu Ruozhou stared at her soft expression, her brow furrowing deeply.
The Alpha from the Wen Family she remembered was nothing like this. The Alpha who had always chased after Xu Mingxin was gloomy, like a fungus growing in dark, damp places. But the person standing before her now—
The Alpha wore a warm white sweater, her oval face exquisitely beautiful, like a porcelain doll. And those bright, black eyes, like a silly dog who would recognize its master with just a bone.
Xu Ruozhou found it hard to believe that someone like this could have conspired with Xu Mingxin to drug her.
Pressing her lips together, Xu Ruozhou finished her question: “Why did you drug me?”
Wen Yan, firmly committed to her role, answered almost without hesitation, “Because the person I’ve always loved is you!”
The scent gland at the back of Wen Yan’s neck twitched violently, as if protesting her lie.
“I was wrong to drug you.”
“I pursued Xu Mingxin only to get your attention,” Wen Yan said, her expression unwavering. “But you never even glanced at me, so I resorted to such desperate measures.”
Xu Ruozhou frowned. Wen Yan squeezed her eyes shut, and a few tears actually trickled down her cheeks.
Two tear streaks stained the Alpha’s face, her vulnerable emotions perfectly conveyed through her eyes. “Xu Ruozhou, I love you, but you’ve never even looked at me.”
“You’re at the age for marriage, and I know I’m not worthy of you. That’s why I made such a terrible mistake.”
With a thump, Wen Yan knelt at Xu Ruozhou’s feet, shamelessly clinging to her calf, her voice humble as dust. “If you’ll just stay by my side, I’ll do anything for you!”
The Du Zisong pheromone in her glands surged violently, as if venting its fury. Under Xu Ruozhou’s increasingly complex gaze, Wen Yan subtly pinched her own glands hard.
Stop it. If you keep interrupting my performance, I’ll have you surgically removed.
