Redeeming That Beautiful, Strong, and Tragic Omega [Transmigration] - Chapter 8
“……Get up first,” Xu Ruozhou said, pressing his lips together.
Hearing this, Wen Yan’s pitiful black eyes lit up, gazing at her with hopeful anticipation, like a proud little dog forgiven by its master.
Xu Ruozhou’s tone softened unconsciously. “I understand your feelings.”
Wen Yan was about to breathe a sigh of relief when Xu Ruozhou’s tone shifted abruptly. “So, when did you start liking me?”
The question made Wen Yan stumble, nearly dropping to her knees again. Xu Ruozhou narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
Having grown accustomed to a life of leisure, Wen Yan never imagined her mind could race so quickly to fabricate a lie.
She recalled the most vivid scene from the original novel:
In the perpetually gloomy courtyard, starving orphans fought over a piece of moldy cake. The victor wasn’t the oldest or strongest, but the hungriest among them.
She was frail, yet her fierce, reddish-brown eyes struck fear into those who met her gaze.
Madam Xu stared at those ferocious eyes, covering her mouth and screaming. The pampered woman couldn’t believe this was her own daughter—this wolf cub who would whip another child’s face to a bloody pulp with a tree branch for a piece of moldy cake was her child!
The Dean accepted a large sum of money, and Xu Ruozhou was brought back to the Xu Family.
The tall, slender girl sensed her biological mother’s aversion to her and followed cautiously behind.
It wasn’t until they entered the villa and Xu Ruozhou saw the figure in the garden—someone her age, wearing a beautiful sundress, chasing and playfully fighting with an Alpha—that she understood why Madam Xu hated her.
Someone had stolen the life that should have been hers.
“Your first day back home,” Wen Yan swallowed hard. “I was in the garden that day, and I saw you standing at the gate from a distance. You were wearing ill-fitting clothes, the hems of your pants patched up, standing there completely out of place.”
Xu Ruozhou’s expression froze, as if she hadn’t expected this answer.
Wen Yan recalled her initial reason for finishing the novel. “Most Omegas are timid, but that day, with your lowered lashes and seemingly docile demeanor, every cell in your body radiated a primal wildness. It was a strength I had never seen before.”
“I have no ambition and know nothing about business, but that doesn’t stop me from admiring those who are fiercely ambitious, willing to climb to the top at any cost. I don’t care if they use me as a stepping stone.”
“They say flowers grown in barren soil can never grace a proper stage. But I want to see for myself: which is truly more noble—the meticulously cultivated blooms of a garden, or the solitary flower that draws every last nutrient from the harsh earth, fighting tooth and nail to survive the storms?”
Xu Ruozhou stared into Wen Yan’s eyes, searching for any hint of deception.
There was none.
Even her innate, S-class Omega intuition told her Wen Yan was likely speaking the truth.
After a long silence, a self-deprecating chuckle echoed through the villa, jarringly out of place in the stillness.
Wen Yan watched Xu Ruozhou, who was clutching her stomach in laughter, tears streaming down her face. Her expression gradually darkened, and the Du Zisong pheromone emanating from her glands grew subdued.
Moments later, the laughter dissolved into quiet sobs.
Xu Ruozhou could never have imagined that the person who truly understood her best was the Wen Family Waste, the one who always trailed after Xu Mingxin.
Wen Yan offered no comfort, simply standing there, silently listening as the fiercely independent Omega released her long-suppressed emotions.
Before long, Xu Ruozhou stood up, her pale face regaining its usual cold composure. As Wen Yan watched her, she instinctively reached out, wanting to wipe away the tear streaks on her cheek.
It was an ambiguous gesture. Wen Yan only realized this after reaching out. The moment her fingers brushed against Xu Ruozhou’s jade-like skin, she flinched slightly, but the Omega’s slender, pale hand swiftly seized her wrist.
Wen Yan looked up. Those amber eyes burned like wildfire as Xu Ruozhou, holding her hand, gently wiped away the tear tracks on her face. Her movements were forceful, devoid of any hint of desire.
“Wen Yan, if you’re willing to help me take revenge on the Xu Family, I’ll become your Omega.”
Wen Yan had resorted to drugging her to obtain her. Xu Ruozhou was confident she would accept this incredibly tempting proposal.
“I refuse.”
Xu Ruozhou’s eyes widened in disbelief, but Wen Yan shook her head firmly. “Xu Ruozhou, I can’t agree to this.”
“Why?” Xu Ruozhou asked. “Don’t you like me? Haven’t you always wanted me?”
Wen Yan couldn’t tell Xu Ruozhou that even without her help, she would still reclaim her life, commit her neglectful parents to a mental asylum, and rise to become the formidable President Xu, feared and revered by all.
“Xu Ruozhou, listen to me.” Wen Yan gripped her shoulders. “I’ll help you take revenge on the Xu Family, but I don’t need you to repay me in this way.”
“You’re beautiful, capable, and ambitious. You’re just temporarily trapped in a cage called ‘family,’ with your fate controlled by them. But one day, you’ll be the one controlling others’ destinies.”
Xu Ruozhou stared at her blankly. The Alpha’s expression was unusually earnest, as if these far-fetched words were already a reality.
Her reddish-brown eyes looked at Wen Yan in confusion. “Then how do you want me to repay you?”
Wen Yan smiled, revealing two adorable fangs. “Just being by your side is enough for me.”
As long as you don’t break my legs when you achieve your success, I’ll be satisfied.
Xu Ruozhou gave her a cryptic glance.
With some time before their marriage registration, Wen Yan had the villa workers working day and night to help Xu Ruozhou escape the Xu Family as quickly as possible.
Remembering the renovation plans, Wen Yan’s eyes lit up, and she excitedly grabbed the Omega beside her.
Xu Ruozhou looked up at her, puzzled.
“I want to renovate the villa. Can you give me some suggestions?”
Before Xu Ruozhou could answer, the Alpha, her eyes sparkling like a wild horse freed from its reins, was already dragging the owner of that fair wrist out the door.
Infected by Wen Yan’s excitement, even the pain of Xu Ruozhou’s memories seemed to fade slightly.
After the torrential rain, a long-awaited sunny day finally arrived.
As Xu Ruozhou stepped outside, warm sunlight bathed his face, causing the raven-black lashes framing his pale cheeks to flutter.
Emerging from the darkness into the light, it took him a while to painfully open his eyes.
Just beyond the villa’s main entrance lay a fountain, its circular nozzles spraying clear spring water outward.
The transparent droplets sparkled dazzlingly in the sunlight, while workers on either side busily moved potted plants.
On the steps leading to the villa, a tall Alpha was discussing plans with a designer.
Xu Ruozhou’s gaze was involuntarily drawn to the figure standing in the sunlight.
He had seen Wen Yan countless times, but she always trailed behind Xu Mingxin, the person he despised most. As a result, he had never noticed how exquisitely refined her features were.
Her fair, rosy skin was so flawless that even up close, no pores were visible—a rare trait among Alphas. If not for her height, Wen Yan might easily be mistaken for an Omega when out in public.
Sensing his gaze, the Alpha turned her head, revealing two sharp canines as she smiled brightly and radiantly. Xu Ruozhou unconsciously took a step forward, half his foot stepping into the sunlight.
Wen Yan patted the designer’s shoulder, her slender fingers gesturing in Xu Ruozhou’s direction. The designer’s gaze shifted toward her, and Xu Ruozhou gave a slight nod in greeting.
“Ms. Xu, we’re planning to repaint the villa’s exterior. We’re currently considering black and gold. Generally, gold evokes a warmer, more homely feel, while black leans toward a more sophisticated look. Which color do you prefer?”
Home?
Hearing that word, Xu Ruozhou’s eyelashes fluttered, an indescribable mix of emotions surging through her heart.
“Xu Ruozhou?”
The Alpha’s beautiful fingers waved in front of her eyes. “Wake up! You’re daydreaming!”
Xu Ruozhou snapped back to attention, gazing at Wen Yan, who stood backlit by the sun, her smile particularly radiant.
“What color do you like?”
Xu Ruozhou’s gaze softened as she studied the Alpha’s creamy white sweater.
After a long pause, Xu Ruozhou pressed her lips together. “White, I suppose. We could use gray for the roof and trim.”
The designer frowned slightly, about to speak, when the Alpha who had hired her suddenly clapped her hands together. “That’s exactly what I was thinking! Let’s go with your suggestion!”
The designer: ?
Wasn’t she just insisting on warmer, yellow-toned colors?
Wen Yan waved her hand dismissively, radiating an air of extravagant wealth. “Use only the best materials. Money is no object.”
The designer stared in bewildered silence.
Who was that person haggling with me earlier?
She glanced at the aloof Omega, then at the Alpha, who seemed to have forgotten her Rabies vaccine and was gesticulating wildly.
After a moment, realization dawned on the designer. “I’ll finish your wedding suite on time, guaranteed!”
A knowing grin spread across the Beta designer’s face as she winked teasingly at Wen Yan. “I’ll make sure you two can start your ahem marital bliss as soon as possible~”
Wen Yan: !
Xu Ruozhou: ……
“W-what are you talking about? We’re not… we’re not like that!” Wen Yan’s face flushed crimson as she stammered her denial, stealing cautious glances at Xu Ruozhou’s expression.
In contrast, Xu Ruozhou remained composed. She politely thanked the designer and then offered numerous new suggestions for the bedroom’s decor.
Standing in the sunlight, the golden rays softened the sharp angles of her profile, like a melting glacier cascading into a tranquil lake, finally stirring its surface into shimmering ripples.
Wen Yan stood beside her, mesmerized by those slightly parted, crimson lips.
Even the technical jargon she usually loathed seemed less tedious when spoken from those beautiful, thin lips.
Wen Yan listened with rapt attention until Xu Ruozhou approached and tapped her head, jolting her back to reality. She realized it had grown dark.
The Omega stood before her, silhouetted against the rising moon. Xu Ruozhou’s hands were tucked into her pockets, the cold white moonlight casting an inviolable, luminous glow across her serene profile. “Lost in thought for so long. What were you thinking about?”
“About our life after we get married.”
The Original Owner had been utterly clueless, keeping the beautiful and powerful female lead at home as a servant to cook and clean. Driven by petty pride, she had even abused the female lead during her heat cycles.
Villains who opposed the female lead either possessed the strength to survive for a while or were destined to become mere cannon fodder. Wen Yan rubbed her hands together.
If it were her, she would cling tightly to the female lead’s coattails, lounging in bed as a lazy A, living off her wife’s hard work.
Xu Ruozhou crossed her arms. “You were just vehemently opposed to marriage, and now you’re already daydreaming about our life together?”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself. We’ll need a prenuptial agreement with three strict rules.”
