While supporting Gu Yu Qi, Gu Si Yang glanced at her secretly.
Her brows were furrowed and there was a faint sadness between her brows that could not be wiped away. Her fingertips trembled slightly, feeling slightly cold. Although she was limping, she walked fast and Gu Si Yang could see that she was enduring the pain.
Just now, his classmates were all there so it was not convenient for him to ask more questions. No one was around now. He could not help but ask quietly, “Eldest Sister, what kind of bad people did you meet?” Although this temple was an imperial temple, there were so many tourists now. If his eldest sister really encountered something that had no mercy, then…
“No.” Gu Yu Qi was stunned for a moment, then mustered a smile at Gu Si Yang, “Don’t think nonsense. I just fell by myself.”
“But… Yan Zhi said Eldest Sister was together with His Highness Prince An. Even Chun Xing and Gu Si Yu who came back said you were with Prince An.” Gu Si Yang pondered for a moment, then said attentively, “Eldest Sister, don’t lie to me. If something really happened, I will definitely seek justice for Eldest Sister.”
Gu Yu Qi could not help but be a little surprised when she heard these words. She looked at her little brother in surprise. She saw that his brows were wrinkled like an adult’s and his eyes were full of concern, but there was not the slightest bit of contempt, inquiry, or disdain.
Gu Yu Qi could not help but sigh in her heart. In this life, she had achieved great results in transforming Gu Si Yang. If it was the previous life, how could he have looked at her with such an expression…
In his eyes, Gu Yu Qi had been the shame of the Gu family in the previous life.
Gu Yu Qi’s heart warmed and she squeezed Gu Si Yang’s hand hard, “Don’t worry, I really am fine.”
“What about His Highness Prince An? Wasn’t he with Eldest Sister?” Gu Si Yang asked again, “Could it be that Eldest Sister fell and he left without caring?” After he finished speaking, his brows tightened a bit, “People at the Imperial Academy said that Prince An is the most difficult person to get along with. His expression and demeanour is always cold. I hadn’t expected this rumour to be true.”
Gu Yu Qi burst out laughing, “What else did the people in the Imperial Academy say about Prince An?” She asked. An always cold expression and demeanour was right. Unexpectedly, the kids of the Imperial Academy also knew how to speak.
Gu Si Yang looked around and lowered his voice, “They said a lot. When we go back, I’ll slowly tell Eldest Sister.”
Gu Yu Qi saw that he was cautious. Knowing that these kids probably discussed some things in the Imperial Academy that should not be discussed in front of others so she would not ask now. She just reminded him, “After all, this world belongs to those with the surname Yun. You should be careful with your words and actions. His Highness Prince An is a prince. His comings and goings are not something the likes of us can arbitrarily discuss.”
“Yes,” Gu Si Yang nodded solemnly.
“By the way, is Mother alright?” Gu Yu Qi asked.
“Mother is already incredibly anxious. For the sake of Eldest Sister’s reputation, she did not dare to speak about it and just sent people around to look for you. I also didn’t say anything to my classmates, just that Eldest Sister accidentally got lost.” Gu Si Yang said, “I originally wanted to look alone, but I felt that there was power in numbers and we would be able to find Eldest Sister quicker so I told them this. It should be fine saying this, right?”
“It’s alright, you did the right thing,” Gu Yu Qi squeezed Gu Si Yang’s hand soothingly. Her embarrassing state had been revealed in front of others. No matter how much Gu Si Yang covered for her, there would be rumours, but it was good that Gu Si Yang was willing to cover up for her.
When Gu Yu Qi and Gu Si Yang returned to the temple, it was late enough that lamps had been lit. Liang-shi’s eyes were red. As soon as she saw Gu Yu Qi returning wearing Gu Si Yang’s coat, her frightened face turned pale in an instant.
“Ah Nan, you…” She originally wanted to ask if Gu Yu Qi had encountered something unbearable, but since Gu Si Yang and Gu Si Yu were both present, she could only endure it and repeatedly say, “It’s good that you’re back, it’s good that you’re back.”
She first checked Gu Yu Qi carefully, then hugged Gu Yu Qi in her arm only to feel her own heartbeat beating like a drum. No matter what had happened to her daughter outside, it was good as long as she had come back safely. Everything else could be discussed later.
Gu Yu Qi’s heart was hot. Just as she was about to lift her hands to hug Liang-shi, she found that her arm was being hugged by Gu Si Yu who had rushed over, “Eldest Sister, where did you go? Mother and all of us were in panic.” She had a delicate voice and her eyes were full of worry and anxiety which softened Gu Yu Qi’s heart. She raised her hand and stroked Gu Si Yu’s long hair, “Don’t worry, I just fell. Nothing else.”
“Where did you fall?” Liang-shi hurriedly let go of Gu Yu Qi. She saw that Gu Yu Qi was being supported by Gu Si Yang. When she had looked at Gu Yu Qi’s body, she had neglected her legs. It seemed that she had limped over. She hurriedly looked at Gu Yu Qi’s feet, “Did you fall on your foot?”
“It’s okay, it’s just a sprained foot. Mother need not worry,” Gu Yu Qi said with a smile.
“This child! Hurry up and sit down, what are you doing still standing?” Liang-shi helped Gu Yu Qi sit down on a chair. Then she ordered Chun Xing to invite a physician from the town at the foot of the mountain.
Gu Yu Qi gave Liang-shi a wink. Liang-shi was stunned at first, then she understood. She turned to Gu Si Yang and Gu Si Yu and said, “It’s alright now, your eldest sister has returned. Both of you go back and have some supper first. I’ll come and find you in a while.”
“Yes,” Gu Si Yang cupped his fists, then walked out with Gu Si Yu.
“Ah Nan, is there something you want to say?” When Liang-shi saw the two children had left, she closed the door and asked quietly.
“Yes, Mother.” Gu Yu Qi lowered her voice and told her about how she and Yun Ke had fallen into a cave together. However, she hid a lot of things such as how she had kicked Yun Ke… and how Yun Ke had been injured while protecting her in the secret passage…
“His Highness Prince An is still in that secret passage now?” Liang-shi was startled.
“Yes, Mother.” Gu Yu Qi nodded, “Daughter did not tell anyone about this and also asks Mother not to disclose this.” Gu Yu Qi paused, “Mother, how is Yan Zhi’s injury now?”
“That girl Yan Zhi is fine, she just fainted and had fully woken up. Seeing that you were still missing, she cried and said she had to go and find you. I was afraid that something would happen to her so I asked Xia He to press her sleeping acupressure point and let her get a good night’s sleep.” Liang-shi said, “Where is the entrance to that cave? We have to quickly rescue His Highness Prince An.”
“Mother, don’t worry. Prince An needs to be rescued, but it isn’t us who should rescue him.” Gu Yu Qi thought for a while then said, “Mother please let Sister Xia He go the courtyard in the south of the temple and look for His Highness Prince Fu. Ask His Highness Prince Fu’s guards to rescue His Highness Prince An.”
After listening, Liang-shi thought about it and decided that her daughter’s method was the most appropriate.
If people from the Marquis’ residence went to the back of the mountain to save someone, it would surely disturb the people in the temple and it would be inevitable that some would spread the word. This would be bad for Gu Yu Qi.
“Alright, let’s do it that way.” Liang-shi nodded, then immediately called for Xia He to come in.
Gu Yu Qi carefully told Xia He how to get to Prince Fu and how to find the secret passage. Then she urged her to tell this to His Highness Prince Fu and not to disclose this to any unrelated persons. She also asked Xia He to keep watch over there and to be sure to see them rescue His Highness Prince An before coming back to report the completion of her task. After Xia He memorised this, she immediately ran towards the place where Prince Fu was quietly cultivating.
Liang-shi personally took Gu Yu Qi back to her room. She washed and cleaned her wound. Seeing that Gu Yu Qi’s body was indeed only a little scratched, her heart calmed down a little. She was still heartbroken that her beautiful and charming daughter had actually fallen into a cave at Hu Guo Temple and had ended up in such an embarrassing state. It was simply unimaginable.
After a while, Chun Xing came with a physician who looked at Gu Yu Qi’s foot. He determined that it was just a sprain and Liang-shi was completely relieved.
Xia He did not return until late at night. She told Gu Yu Qi that His Highness Prince An had been rescued by His Highness Prince Fu himself. She kept watching and waiting for him to be transported out of the tunnel before she left. However, it seemed that His Highness Prince An was not in a good state. He lacked strength all over and had been supported by others. It seemed that he had been seriously injured.
Gu Yu Qi secretly stuck her tongue out in her heart. Of course she knew that Yun Ke had been injured. In fact, she could have wandered outside for three days before coming back. At that time, she only needed to say that she had gotten lost and could not get back in time, then after coming back she had fainted for two or three days before she could find someone to save Yun Ke. Yun Ke had shed so much blood that being left in the cave for so many days would definitely have killed him…
Gu Yu Qi sighed heavily, she really was still a good person!
However, in this world, good deeds were not rewarded.
It was not that Gu Yu qi had not struggled with whether or not she should leave Yun Ke alone. However, when she thought of being in the secret passage and for him to act rarely and protect her with kindness, her heart softened. After Liang-shi went out, Gu Yu Qi threw herself onto her soft bed and violently punched her quilt twice.
Why could she not be as ruthless as the heroine in the rebirth novel she had read before?! Come on! They were all transmigrated and reborn people, so why was she treated so poorly?!
“Young Miss, are you resting?” Bai Fu’s voice came from outside the door.
“Come in,” Gu Yu Qi sat up straight.
After a moment, the door was opened from the outside and Bai Fu walked in with a bowl of freshly made snow fungus bird’s nest soup. “Sister Dai Mei is making dinner for Young Miss. This bird’s nest was sent by Master Chun Xing. Young Miss, drink some first to nurse the stomach.”
She came over with a smile, but there seemed to be a bit of sadness hidden in those bright eyes.
Gu Yu Qi could naturally see it. This girl had been with her for four years. From the beginning, whether she was happy or angry, her emotions were always visible on her face. She was someone who could not hide things.
She calmly took the bird’s nest soup that Bai Fu handed over and took a sip with a spoon. The temperature was just right and the boiled snow fungus was thick. There was neither too much nor too little honey so it was sweet but not greasy.
These years, her stomach had been fed by that girl, Dai Mei. When Dai Mei followed Qiu Yue to learn her skills, she also often stole tricks and tips on the side. So now, not only did Gu Yu Qi know how to eat, she could also cook good dishes herself. If it were not for the fact that she had not put her mind onto it, it was likely that even Dai Mei could not compare to her.
Most of her energy was spent on practising martial arts.
Bai Fu was a little absent-minded and waited on the side. Although she did not speak, Gu Yu Qi could see that she felt a little hesitant to speak.
Bai Fu did not say anything and Gu Yu Qi did not ask. She just counted silently in her heart to see how long this girl could last.
Sure enough, when Gu Yu Qi counted to 30, Bai Fu finally could not help but speak, “Young Miss, can this servant inquire about someone with Young Miss?”
“You want to ask after I fell, where did His Highness Prince An go, right?” Gu Yu Qi’s lips twitched. See, she had guessed it completely.
“How did Young Miss know that this servant wanted ask about this?” Bai Fu was startled, then said with a red face, “This servant knows that to ask this is to overstep, but this servant really wants to know. Sister Yan Zhi said that she walked with you both for a while, then Young Miss’ foot was sprained and then His Highness Prince An helped Young Miss to sit down and rest. And then… and then…”
“And then what?” Gu Yu Qi’s face sank.
