The cloister was in her own house, but her mood was completely different from when she was usually at home.
He actually lived here so casually. Gu Yu Qi just felt that she was really unlucky. Since leaving the capital, Gu Yu Qi never expected to escape Yun Ke’s grasp, but she kept that trace of hope. She hoped that she would never see him again and she hoped that he would forget she was out here at large, but was that possible?
That man’s heart was cold and small, plus he had a vengeful temper. In Hugou Temple, she hit him and he had tolerated her already, even sending her up to the hole where she could escape. Technically speaking, he did it so that he could get out of trouble as well. However, when they fell down the tunnel before, he had also protected her.
Gu Yu Qi was not a fool so she naturally saw that he had deliberately protected her. She really did not know what kind of heart he had.
Gu Yu Qi turned around a small corner and saw the row of rooms in front of her. Her heart beat wildly a few times. She took a deep breath, telling herself not to be agitated, to be calm.
She originally wanted to stop and sort out her messy thoughts before pushing the door in, but she felt a gaze on her. She was slightly taken aback and looked over.
Under the eaves in front of her, a young man stood in the dark, tall and straight like bamboo. He wore a dark blue guard uniform which accentuated his broad shoulders and narrow waist. He was very handsome. However, he was very good at restraining his breathing. If it were not for his strange gaze, Gu Yu Qi would hardly notice his existence. He had a face that was too handsome with exquisite facial features and his eyes stared at her intently.
Gu Yu Qi’s heart skipped a beat, it was him! Du Xia! She really had not expected that the first time she met him in this life would be here. Having not seen him for a few years, he was as tall and as handsome as she had imagined. He was completely different to the poor and thin little boy at the human slave market four years ago. He looked at her with warm eyes full of pleasant surprise. He recognised her.
Gu Yu Qi really wanted to go over and greet him, but thinking of Yun Ke in the room, she was immediately discouraged.
She just glanced at Du Xia hastily then retracted her gaze.
Du Xia’s heart jumped for joy when he saw Gu Yu Qi for the first time. After so many years, the person he could not forget was right in front of him. If he stretched out his hand, he could touch her. She was really beautiful. When she was turning around the corner, Du Xia felt as if she lit up the whole courtyard. She had grown taller with a demeanour unique to young girls. She walked slowly, tall and slender, and her face was truly indescribably beautiful. Du Xia could not find any words in his mind to describe her appearance. This was the kind of girl who people said was beautiful enough to overthrow cities and ruin states.
She first stopped in front of him, brows furrowed slightly. Du Xia felt his heart frown along with her. If possible, he wanted to soothe the disconsolation between her brows. A girl like her should laugh heartily instead of frowning.
Unexpectedly, the chance encounter in the human slave market created the Du Xia today. What that girl said back then had let him know that he was worth more than that.
Remember my name, I am Gu Yu Qi. Live well, I will find you in the future.
Just these few words have made him strive for four years. He really wanted to walk over and say to her, “I’m here. I’m Du Xia and I’ve lived well. I’m here to find you.”
Yet, he could not.
Du Xia saw Gu Yu Qi’s eyes linger on him for a moment, then move away immediately as she quickly walked into the room. His heart skipped a beat, then gradually became cold.
Right, even if she had been expelled from the Marquis’ residence, she was still a high-ranked young lady. As for him, he was just a secret guard whose identity could not even come to light.
Du Xia lowered his eyes slowly and restrained his breathing. He stood straight in the corner, but his heart could no longer calm down.
Did she recognise him, or did she forget him? Her eyes had only stayed on him for a moment, too short for him to figure out what she was thinking.
Gu Yu Qi pushed open the door and entered. She took a deep breath then closed the door, “This civilian girl, Gu Yu Qi, has come to serve tea at the order of His Highness. Wishing His Highness Prince An lives a thousand years.”
She deliberately referred to serving as serving tea just to see Yun Ke’s reaction.
After a long while, still no one in the room made any sound. Gu Yu Qi frowned. This person probably planned on tormenting her.
She waited a while longer, waiting until her half-bent legs were slightly sore. Still, there was no answer.
“This civilian girl, Gu Yu Qi, has come to serve tea at the order of His Highness. Wishing His Highness Prince An lives a thousand years,” Gu Yu Qi raised her voice a little and repeated what she said just now. She restrained her temper. Either way, she had mentally prepared herself before so this level of disregard, she could accept.
他是故意的,一定是故意的!
He was doing it on purpose, it must be on purpose!
Since it was like this, Gu Yu Qi’s heart felt like a thousand horses were thundering past. Childish, silly! Gu Yu Qi had already started to criticise Yun Ke in her heart.
There was still no response and the room was pitch black. Gu Yu Qi raised her eyes and looked over. With the faint light from outside, she saw a person lying on the bed.
What a mess!
Gu Yu Qi raised herself and repeated her words for a third time. The person on the bed lay motionless as if having no intention of paying attention to her at all.
No way! This did not fit Yun Ke’s character.
Gu Yu Qi stood up tentatively, “Your Highness, shall this civilian girl light the lamps first?” There was no light in the room and it was dark. Gu Yu Qi did not want to talk to Yun Ke in the pitch black darkness. Seeing that Yun Ke did not respond, she simply did not wait any longer and walked to the table by herself. She picked up a torch and took the gauze covers off the lamps, then lit the candles inside. One light was not bright enough. She also lit up the 16-arm floor candlesticks placed in the corner and the room instantly became brighter.
After Gu Yu Qi finished this, she found that the person on the bed was still motionless. She had some doubts in her heart and simply raised her head up enough to take a look.
The person on the bed had tightly pursed lips and eyes closed tightly. His face was unusually pale and there was a trace of abnormal redness. His breathing was very heavy and his brows furrowed deeply. He seemed to be in great pain.
This… he was sick? Gu Yu Qi was startled. After hesitating repeatedly, she stretched her hand towards Yun Ke’s cheek. Gu Yu Qi had not yet touched him when she felt the heat emanating from his face. When she let her slightly cold hand touch Yun Ke’s skin, Gu Yu Qi was taken aback. The man had a high fever and at such a high temperature?! No wonder he had not spoken just now. It turned out that he had fainted already.
“Someone…” Gu Yu Qi had just called out one word then she felt her hand being held tightly by something burning. Then a force pulled her and made her unsteady so that she sat on the edge of the bed. In an instant, Gu Yu Qi’s words calling out for someone to come smashed into pieces.
“Mother Concubine!” Her hand was firmly grasped by that person. It felt as though her hand was being folded over a hot hand warmer stove. He grabbed Gu Yu Qi’s hand tightly like a child and put her hand over his chest.
“Your Highness, I am not your Mother Concubine,” Gu Yu Qi spoke patiently and softly. She wanted to take her hand out, but did not expect that when she used a little force, she would be met with strong resistance from that person.
“Don’t go, Mother Concubine. This child will study well. This child will get you out of here. Mother Concubine, don’t leave this child behind!” He yelled as if startled, holding onto Gu Yu Qi desperately as if the person he was holding would disappear if he let go.
His eyes did not open, but his originally handsome and cold face was filled with dread and fear. His body was also shaking slightly.
Gu Yu Qi had never seen Yun Ke like this before. For a while, she was stunned and did not know what to do. She could only let him hold her hand tightly.
Maybe it was because he realised the person he held onto was no longer resisting, but Yun Ke gradually calmed down. Gu Yu Qi’s hand was cold and soft, and was very comfortable to hold. The corners of his lips curled slightly as though he was caught in some sweet memory.
When Gu Yu Qi’s hand turned warm from his high temperature, he felt uneasy again and started to pull Gu Yu Qi downwards, wanting to touch more cold places. Gu Yu Qi was shocked. She was being dragged down by him? What would this look like if someone saw?
“Your Highness Prince An!” Gu Yu Qi hurriedly began to pull her hand outward again, calling out to Yun Ke anxiously and trying to wake him up. “I’m not your Mother Concubine, I’m really not.” The more she tried to break free, the more Yun Ke refused and he held onto Gu Yu Qi tightly. With great difficulty, Gu Yu Qi pulled her arm away from that unconscious and unreasonable man. She was about to get up to find a physician when something tightened around her waist.
Two frighteningly hot arms wrapped around her slender waist tightly. Like a koala, he instinctively climbed Gu Yu Qi like a tree. When he naturally rested his big head on Gu Yu Qi’s chest, Gu Yu Qi was suddenly petrified. Her expression froze, then splintered into pieces…
What was that thing on her chest shifting and twisting trying to find a comfortable position? Yun Ke’s hot cheeks rubbed against tall and soft chest and Gu Yu Qi’s mind blanked instantly.
She was being molested! Her chest was being attacked! Moreover, it was a sick person who could no longer tell the difference between north, east, south, and west, a bastard who had already fainted from fever who was molesting her with his face!
My god! Gu Yu qi raised her hand and before she even thought about it, her hand plunged down and hit Yun Ke on the back of his neck with a karate chop. Yun Ke’s body quietly went weak and he slipped off, falling onto Gu Yu Qi’s lap.
Damn! Can a fainted person faint again? Could it be that everything before was just pretending?! While Gu Yu Qi moved the still as death man onto the bed, she secretly pinched his arms hard a few times. Who told you to molest me and attack my chest?! Even if you fainted, you still cannot! She pinched hard, practically twisting.
Besides, this guy had fainted now and could not feel it. She must make up for some of her losses now. When he recovered and woke up, she would not even be able to recover capital.
Gu Yu Qi managed to straighten him up. She pulled up the quilt and covered him. She straightened her waist, feeling after what just happened, she was as tired as if she had fought a battle with someone.
She really wanted to kick the guy on the bed to death and throw him into the floods outside the city, then everything would be over.
However, she did not dare to. This person was sent by Prince Ding and the Jiangxia City governor. If he really went missing here, then it would not be as simple for her as leaving the capital to hide from the Ding Yuan Marquis like before. It would really be the start of an endless escape career.
Besides, this person was going to be the emperor in the future. It was said that the emperor had the protection of the heavens. Who knew if he would come back from the dead. It was strange that she had travelled through time and had been reborn. Even the guy in front of her had been reborn with memories of his previous life. Gu Yu Qi felt that the heavens were always cursing her.
After glaring fiercely at the ignorant person on the bed, Gu Yu Qi knew that she had to find a physician quickly. If a fever like this continued, it would bode ill rather than well.
She hurried out of the room and said to Du Xia who was standing in the dark, “Your master is likely seriously ill, he’s already fainted. I’m going to find a physician. You go in and watch over him, don’t let anyone else in. If something happens to him, none of us would be able to bear the responsibility.”
After she finished speaking, she turned around and ran towards the front yard quickly.
Du Xia watched Gu Yu Qi’s back as she retreated and his heart suddenly seemed to lose a piece.
She did not know him anymore! She really did not know him anymore… Gu Yu Qi did not have any intentions of greeting him and left quickly after giving him instructions. It seemed like she really did not recognise him.
He turned silently to the room and watched over Prince An Yun Ke who had fainted. However, at the bottom of his heart, he could not calm down.
That was right, he was just a lowly boy who was being trafficked back then. How could she still remember him? She had just given him a quick glance, maybe she had not even seen what he looked like clearly that time.
Yun Ke was still in a coma. Du Xia reached out to feel Yun Ke’s breathing from his nose. He gave a long sigh and silently guarded Yun Ke, waiting for Gu Yu Qi to find a physician.
Hearing that Gu Yu Qi was going out to find a physician, Zhao Wu hurriedly stopped Gu Yu Qi, “Young Miss, it’s chaos outside!” He said, “Refugees have poured into Jiangxia city and now the streets are full of displaced people. I heard that several shops have been robbed.”
“The refugees have also entered the city?” Gu Yu Qi was startled, it seemed like it would not be long before the plague broke out.
“Yes, it just happened not long ago. It’s really chaotic outside. I’ll go find a physician. Young Miss, just wait at home,” Zhao Wu said.
“Alright,” Gu Yu Qi nodded.
Since refugees had entered town, then the rain was about to stop and immediately after, there would be a plague. That was two or three days. Gu Yu Qi looked at the raindrops hanging from the eaves and gave another long sigh.
Heaven and earth were ruthless, treating all things as dogs. Everything she had experienced in her previous life was being quietly pushed forward by an invisible hand.
