Reincarnated As An Ogre, I’m Going To Enjoy Life In This Other World! - Chapter 7
I looked again at the girl who introduced herself as Elma. She had long brown hair, large, round eyes, and a well-defined nose, she was a perfect example of a traditional beauty.
(The standards in this world are insane!)
“Did you say something?”
“No… it’s nothing.”
“…?”
Elma looked at me with a puzzled expression.
“By the way, what were you doing here, Elma?”
I asked Elma, trying to change the subject.
“Ah! That’s right, I came to gather medicinal herbs!”
“Medicinal herbs?”
“Yes, actually, my mother is sick… and I need the herbs to treat her.”
“On your own?”
“Yes, usually I gather them near the village entrance, but while I was searching for the right herbs and ended up going deeper into the woods without realizing.”
“So that’s what happened.”
“Yes, I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t come, Kingil-san.”
Elma seemed to recall what had happened earlier and shuddered.
“Why are you in a place like this, Kingil-san? And why are you dressed like that?”
“I…”
(How should I explain this? Never mind, I’ll just make up something. I doubt anybody would believe the truth anyway.)
“I got lost.”
“Huh… You’re lost?”
“Yeah, and as for my appearance… my clothes got blown away by the wind while I was bathing.”
(Even I know how weak of an excuse that sounds…)
“That must have been tough.”
Elma appeared to believe my made-up story.
“By the way, Elma, you don’t seem that surprised to see me.”
“Yes, at first I was a little surprised, but you helped me, Kingil-san. Also, since you can speak human language, you must be a unique monster, right?”
“Unique monster?”
“Huh? Was I wrong?”
“I’m sorry, I don’t know. What does ‘unique monster’ mean?”
Elma raised her index finger and began to explain.
“A unique monster is a monster that has received a gift from a god.”
“A gift?”
“I don’t know the details, but I’ve heard they get special abilities, and all unique monsters can speak human language.”
(Hmm, if that’s the case, I would qualify as a unique monster. It seems the goddess didn’t just randomly reincarnate me.)
“I see, I understand now. Thank you.”
“No, it’s no trouble at all.”
Elma, with a slightly proud expression, looked cute.
“So, what will you do next, Elma? Are you going to gather herbs again?”
“Yes, I haven’t found the herbs I’m looking for yet, so… um…”
Elma kept looking at me, as if hoping for something, and I could tell what she wanted to ask.
“Ah… Is it okay if I tag along? I still have a lot of questions I want to ask.”
Upon hearing that, Elma’s face lit up with a bright smile.
“Yes!”
“Where exactly are these herbs located?”
“If we go a little deeper, we should find them.”
“I see. Well then, let’s go.”
“Please be careful, Kingil-san. They say there’s a huge Boa-type monster deeper in the forest.”
“A Boa-type?”
“It’s a monster with massive tusks, and the villagers call it Bloody Horn.”
“Giant tusks… you mean that boar?”
“A boar? What’s a boar?”
Elma tilted her head and asked.
(Right, it probably doesn’t translate here.)
“No, it’s nothing. I might have already defeated that Bloody Horn thing.”
“Eh!?”
I went to the bushes and brought back the two tusks I had left there.
“Here, these are the tusks…”
“Ehhhh!!”
Elma’s shocked voice echoed through the forest.
Chapter length 1530 characters.
I have some public polls up on my Ko-fi, if anybody can spare 10-15 seconds to answer them, I would appreciate it. They are just broad stroke questions about what type of series I should translate in the future. One of which is whether or not you guys would like more series with illustrations like this one or if I should avoid series with illustrations all together.
