☆10 The Great Southern Chasm
Heading south from the ancient ruins in the west, one leaves the Kingdom of Valhalion and enters the lush lands of the Kingdom of Soldia. Here, tropical vegetation thrives. And vibrant flowers bloom in abundance.
The sun always shines high and bright. It casts its golden light over the land. While the sky stretches endlessly in a deep, clear blue.
As the carriage moves forward, the road gently winds and leads toward the southeastern coastline.
Drawing closer to the shore, the soothing sound of waves fills the air. And the salty sea breeze blows refreshingly across the land.
Before long, a verdant island emerges on the horizon. It stands alone in the sea.
This small island, too, is a paradise of greenery and exotic tropical flowers. It’s a place of serene beauty.
In the sky above the island, brilliantly colored birds occasionally take flight. They paint a picture of peace and tranquility.
Yet, at the heart of this paradise lurks an anomaly—something entirely out of place.
A massive abyss known as “The Great Southern Chasm”.
This gaping hole devours the land as if carving out the very heart of the island. Despite its ominous presence, the chasm is a renowned tourist attraction. It draws visitors from around the world eager to witness its breathtaking scale.
Standing at its edge beneath the blazing sun, one can peer into an unfathomable darkness. The sheer depth of the abyss defies measurement, an endless void stretching downward. A cool wind rises from its depths, brushing against the skin with a stark contrast to the island’s usual warmth.
But The Great Southern Chasm is far more than just a tourist spot.
According to those well-versed in the island’s history, the chasm is said to have been created by ancient gods or lost civilizations. Legends whisper that unfathomable treasures lie hidden in its depths.
However, the path leading into the abyss is perilous.
At first, sunlight still reaches inside, illuminating the rocky walls. But as one descends further—hundreds of meters deep—the darkness thickens. It steadily consumes all sight.
Only A-rank adventurers and above are permitted to venture into the abyss.
The brave souls who risk their lives stepping into this uncharted domain do so in search of legendary treasures, long-lost ruins, or secrets yet to be uncovered.
Yet, the abyss has never revealed its mysteries.
Many famed adventurers have attempted to reach its deepest depths. They seek to etch their names into history. But not a single one has ever returned. Those who survived never made it far and barely escaped with their lives.
Deeper into the abyss, even footsteps are swallowed by the void. It feels as if the darkness stretches infinitely, with no end in sight. From nowhere, eerie red lights begin to glow. They are unmoving, yet persistently watching.
Pale blue mist seeps out from cracks in the ground, radiating an unsettling aura—as though it holds the condensed resentment of the lost. Somewhere in the distance, a low growl rumbles, the sound of an unseen beast lurking in the shadows.
The growl shifts unpredictably. It sometimes appears right beside the listener, only to suddenly fade into the vast emptiness beyond.
This darkness is like a fragment of hell bleeding into the mortal world.
The deeper one ventures, the heavier and colder the air becomes. Those who dare continue forward soon realize—this island is no mere paradise. It is a domain where monsters reign, their eyes ever watchful.
Step by step, the abyss tightens its grip, making it impossible to turn back. Eventually, those who go too far become one with the darkness itself.

At the entrance of this abyss, Lilith Starseeker carefully checked her equipment.
She was one of the ten S-rank adventurers in the world, a name known throughout these lands.
Her fiery red hair swayed in the breeze. And her sky-blue eyes stared into the unending void ahead.
Her lightly tanned skin, kissed by countless adventures under the sun, glowed with a healthy radiance.
Dressed in a sturdy leather outfit, she carried a longsword engraved with celestial patterns at her waist. The sword faintly pulsed with magical energy. It had accompanied her through countless battles, earning her unwavering trust.
This was not a mission. This was curiosity.
Lilith had chosen to explore the Great Southern Chasm of her own accord.
Her goal was not necessarily to reach the bottom, but to map as much of the abyss as possible—for future adventurers who might follow in her footsteps.
Taking one last deep breath, she tightened her grip on her gear.
“Alright. Everything’s set.”
With those quiet words—perhaps to steel her resolve—Lilith stepped forward and disappeared into the abyss.
