Reincarnated as Twins: And Then, I Was the Only One Abandoned - ☆29 King of Reversal
☆29 King of Reversal
Gald was bewildered.
What had happened in just a few months?
Before returning home, that creature had been nothing more than a puppy. But now, its former appearance was gone. It was replaced by an overwhelming presence that could easily tear a human apart.
The flickering flames surrounding it had taken on an eerie intensity.
And then, there was the other one.
A Behemoth. Its face still held traces of youth. But it was by no means just a cat.
Being stared at with predator-like eyes sent chills down his spine.
Even when it played around lightly, if he didn’t take it seriously, he would die.
Under Elysia’s orders, he had been tasked with taking care of these two creatures.
But how was he supposed to care for magical beasts?
They fed on mana, so playing with them and letting them absorb his mana was enough—but by the time these monsters were full, he would be left as a dried-up mummy every single day.
A girl named Aiza would sometimes visit and play with them without any trouble, but……… who the hell was she?
She was definitely going to be someone great in the future.
Hurry up and come back, Souta!!!

From the bottom of his heart, Gald longed for that day.

After passing through a small mountain range, we finally returned to the Kingdom of Valhalion.
But it would still take several more days to reach Celestia.
Traveling with a ten-member bandit gang on horseback would mean a hefty lodging cost.
I could have just left them in a cheap inn. But instead, tonight’s inn was yet another luxurious place, fit for an elven princess.
“B-Boss… are we really allowed to stay in such a fancy place…? We’re not gonna get charged for it later, are we…?”
The bandit leader, Kai, asked anxiously.
“It’s fine, don’t worry.”
Even though it wasn’t even my money, I answered with an air of authority.
“Whoa… this is really generous of you… By the way, I’ve been wondering…”
Kai glanced between me and Elysia and then asked:
“Boss, are you and Elysia-san a couple?”
Wha—!?
What the hell is this guy saying!?
There’s no way an elven princess and an ordinary human like me would ever be in that kind of relationship!
Noah and Yuna exchanged knowing glances and smirked at me.
“D-Don’t say something so ridiculous. I am Elysia’s loyal bodyguard!”
“But if you’re her bodyguard, why do you call her by name? You use honorifics for the others.”
“Oh my, so Souta is my loyal bodyguard? That’s news to me.”
Elysia said teasingly.
Huh??
Wait, then what’s our relationship supposed to be?
Does this mean I have to serve her as a vassal until I repay my debt?
That sounds kind of awful.
I’d probably have to deal with all sorts of tedious stuff…
Being a bodyguard is still better. At least the role is clear.
I needed to change the subject.
“Anyway, Kai. Tell me more about you guys’ abilities.”
“Oh! Then how about we introduce ourselves properly over dinner?”
At dinner, we couldn’t all fit at one table. So we split into two groups.
As we talked, I realized these guys were actually straightforward and easy to get along with.
Kai’s ability, “Valor’s Boon”, was absolutely broken.
As expected, those exposed to Kai’s mana could enhance their own mana.
But the fewer people there were, the stronger the effect—if only ten people received it, their abilities would double.
That was bad news for me, though.
Drake’s “Aegis of Total Protection”, which had reduced Noah’s lightning attack, was just as powerful.
And the ability of a girl named Liana, “Transcendence”, enhanced all five senses to an insane degree.
It allowed for clairvoyance and even super hearing that could pick up conversations from hundreds of meters away.
So *that’s* what that strange feeling on the way to Rivandel was……
Huh, no wonder these kids could survive as bandits.
Wait… these guys gave names to their own abilities?
Is that a common thing in Silenia?
Curious, I asked,
“Huh? You guys name your abilities?”
Kai looked puzzled.
“What? Boss, you don’t? It’s not just in Silenia—it’s a normal thing everywhere, isn’t it?”
“Oh, really? But Elysia and the others don’t name theirs, right?”
“I believe it is a unique custom among humans. We elves do not have such a tradition.”
Ah, I see.
So that means, as a human, it wouldn’t be embarrassing if I named mine.
This is seriously awakening my inner chuunibyou.
“Alright, maybe I should come up with one too.”
“Boss, your ability is reversal, right? Then there ain’t even a need to think about it. ‘King of Reversal’—that’s the only choice.”
King of Reversal!!!
Damn.
That sounds awesome.
It’s cooler without adding some fancy foreign pronunciation to it.
“‘King of Reversal’, huh? Not bad, Kai. I’ll go with that.”
I nodded in satisfaction.
“Since we’re at it, should I come up with something for you guys too?”
“No, that won’t be necessary.”
Elysia gave a faint smile. But her words carried an unmistakable tone of firm rejection.
