☆39 Vampire Extermination ③
The moment I stepped into the mansion, I gasped at the shocking scene before me.
A woman with long black hair had pinned down Lilith, who was much larger than her in build. With her left hand, she pressed down on Lilith’s neck. While her right hand’s blade-like claws, repeatedly stabbed into her like a raging storm.
Lilith desperately guarded herself with both arms. But each time the attack grazed her, bl00d splattered through the air.
“Lilith!!!”
I dashed forward without thinking, rushing toward them.
My heart pounded wildly. Adrenaline was surging through my entire body.
“Hm? What is this?”
In the darkness, red eyes glowed as they locked onto mine.
A cold, merciless gleam resided in them.
But I didn’t care. I threw myself at them, forcing Lilith away from her attacker.
“You okay?”
I lifted Lilith’s upper body and checked her condition.
Her face was pale in the dim light. It was devoid of vitality. Her clothes were torn, and bl00d was seeping from multiple wounds. Most of all, her once immense mana was now weak and flickering. It was like a candle on the verge of going out.
“Somehow… I’m barely alive…”
Her usual lighthearted tone remained. But her voice was faint and strained.
“It’ll… take some time to recover… so… can you buy me just a little time?”
“Of course!!”
I felt an anger welling up inside me. It was stronger than anything I’d ever experienced before.
“You might be a good match… ‘Poison’ and… ‘Enhancement’. If you reverse it…”
“That’s enough. I get it. Just focus on recovering.”
I laid Lilith down, watching a brief look of relief cross her face. I then turned back toward the vampire.
“Oh? So now it’s you, boy? Your mana seems much weaker than that woman’s. Do you not value your life?”
Kistopia sneered.
“You won’t know until you try, will you?”
I met Kistopia’s gaze and stepped forward calmly.
As the distance between us closed, I stopped and clenched my fists tightly.
“You seriously intend to fight me with your bare hands? Amusing. Very well, I shall humor you.”
The moment Kistopia spoke, as if on cue, both our fists struck each other’s faces at the same time.
—BAM!!!
A resounding impact echoed through the air. But the only one sent flying was Kistopia.
“???????”
She sat on the ground in shock. She was seemingly unable to comprehend what had happened.
She had likely strengthened herself with mana before attacking.
However, the stronger the enhancement, the weaker it became under my ability, “King of Reversal”.
To me, it felt no worse than being playfully swatted by a baby.
Snapping back to her senses, Kistopia lunged at me again. I countered with a punch—same result. She was sent flying once more.
“Hm. Seems you have quite an interesting ability. My power isn’t affecting you?”
Hmm… I hit her seriously, but she doesn’t seem to have taken any damage.
Her base stamina—or maybe her fundamental mana capacity—is just far beyond that of a human.
Now, what should I do?
I glanced behind me. Lilith seemed to have recovered enough to get up on one knee.
Come to think of it, she mentioned “Poison” and “Enhancement”, right?
That means, if we combine our abilities…
“Lilith! I know you’re in rough shape, but can you get over here?”
I took my eyes off Kistopia for a moment and called out to Lilith.
“I just thought of a great plan.”
I could sense Lilith slowly staggering toward me.
“Yeah… I think that’s our only option.”
She had already figured it out.
That makes things easier.
“Alright, let’s do this.”
I signaled to Lilith with my eyes. I then lunged at Kistopia.
Kistopia wasn’t about to lose, either—she grappled with me. And the two of us rolled across the ground. The only thing I controlled was the direction we rolled.
That’s right—toward Lilith.
As soon as I caught sight of Lilith’s feet, I shifted my position. I locked Kistopia in a tight hold. Normally, Kistopia would be able to send a human flying effortlessly with her enhanced mana. But against my “King of Reversal”, her power was useless. She thrashed violently. She was relying on her raw vampire strength. But I poured every ounce of my mana into reinforcing my grip, clenching my teeth to endure.
“Now, Lilith!!!”
“Heh, as expected. I’m really glad I brought you along this time.”
Even with exhaustion written all over her face, Lilith smirked slightly. Then, without hesitation, she plunged her beloved sword, Circulation Blade, straight into Kistopia’s heart.
“Hmph, useless. You think you’ve restrained me with just this? I can simply turn into mist and—”
Kistopia suddenly stopped mid-sentence, as if realizing something.
“W-What!? I’m turning into mist, but… I’m solidifying again!?”
Vampires are seriously insane.
Even with a sword stabbed straight through her heart, she was casually holding a conversation.
Lilith’s blade absorbed Kistopia’s mana, its red-black glow intensifying.
“!!?? You’re absorbing my mana?! But I already told you, didn’t I?! My mana is poisonous to humans!”
“Too bad, Kistopia-chan! My mana reverses everything! Enhanced strength becomes weakness, mist turns solid, and poison—yes, poison becomes healing!”
Lilith’s sword pulsed. And in mere moments, her battered body began to regenerate at an astonishing rate.
At the same time, Kistopia’s once overwhelming mana rapidly drained away.
“R-Ridiculous!! I, defeated… by mere humans…?!”
As more of her mana was siphoned away, Kistopia’s body withered. Meanwhile, Lilith’s own capacity was reaching its limit—her veins bulged all over her body. It looked as if they might burst at any moment.
“Damn… what *is* this bottomless mana? No matter how much I absorb, it just keeps coming…!”
But I could feel it—Kistopia’s resistance was growing weaker.
“She’s almost done for… just a little more…!”
I was reaching my own limits as well.
“Guuuooooohhh… oooohhh…!!”
With a final, desperate struggle, Kistopia squeezed out the last of her mana in an attempt to break free.
At that moment—
“Guh…!!”
Lilith coughed up bl00d and let go of her sword.
Kistopia’s body had completely dried up—reduced to nothing but a shriveled mummy.
Lilith’s entire body pulsed like one massive, overstrained bl00d vessel.
Then—
The mummy crumbled into dust. It disintegrated into a mere pile of sand.
