Reincarnated as Twins: And Then, I Was the Only One Abandoned - ☆48 Welcome
☆48 Welcome
When I returned to the city with the dark elves from my hometown, I expected a much bigger commotion. However, thanks to Elysia’s careful groundwork beforehand, they were accepted far more smoothly than I had anticipated.
The autumn wind rustled through the air. It gently swayed the colorful trees. The townspeople welcomed us naturally, without surprise. Their smiles were warm and genuine. The sight of falling leaves seemed to symbolize the peaceful atmosphere of our reception.
Dwarven and human craftsmen had already begun constructing homes for the newcomers. It spread a cooperative spirit throughout the city.
“Oh wow, this place is way more developed than I expected! It’s practically a metropolis.”
The moment he stepped into the autonomous region, Nactis exclaimed in amazement. His eyes were sparkling as he took in the cityscape.
“I’ve heard that various races coexist here, and it seems to be true. Everyone’s faces are filled with energy,”
The chief murmured as he observed the surroundings.
“Chief, I know you just arrived, but there’s someone I’d like you to meet. Would you mind coming with me?”
“Oh? And who might that be? Don’t tell me you’re introducing me to your fiancée?”
The chief raised an eyebrow and smirked teasingly.
I knew he was joking, but his words still made me flustered.
“N-No! It’s nothing like that! I’m talking about the elven princess who governs this place.”
I waved my hands frantically, trying to explain.
“Ah, I see. I didn’t bring any gifts, but I did bring some rare seeds from the sacred cave.”
He responded as if it were no big deal. Though his tone carried the weight of responsibility that came with being a chief.
“That’s perfect! We can all share them together.”
I replied with a grin.

When we arrived at Elysia’s mansion, I rang the doorbell.
The other dark elves were waiting in the city square.
As the doors opened, the usual butler greeted us.
After going through the usual comedic routine with him, the chief and I were led into a reception room.
The fine carpet underfoot sent a slight wave of tension through me.
Before long, Elysia entered with a bright, welcoming smile.
She walked straight up to the chief and elegantly extended her hand for a handshake.
“Nice to meet you. I serve as something of a representative here—Elysia, the second princess of the Eldarin Kingdom.”
Her voice was soft and polite. Yet, it carried a quiet strength.
“A pleasure to meet you. I am Darsh, chief of the dark elves. We once lived peacefully in a corner of Valford. We deeply appreciate your generous acceptance of us.”
The chief responded calmly, bowing deeply.
Elysia smiled and spoke with deep respect.
“Not at all. I’ve heard that you are like a foster parent to Souta. In that case, I consider you family as well. I hope we can work together to develop this city.”
………She just dropped something outrageous like it was nothing. Why would he be your in-law?
I couldn’t help but mentally call her out on it.
After that, Elysia bombarded the chief with questions about my childhood.
Surprisingly, the chief answered every single one in great detail. He didn’t skip over anything.
Seriously, his memory is insane.
He even recalled things from my past that I had completely forgotten.
As I listened, nostalgia washed over me. It was mixed with the occasional embarrassment whenever my childhood antics were brought up.
Once that conversation settled down, Elysia carefully explained the basic rules of the city to the chief.
She went over topics like taxation and security cooperation, covering each point one by one.
The chief nodded thoughtfully. He was considering how the Dark Elves could contribute.
He even started making concrete proposals.
“Our expertise, particularly in black magic, could be beneficial to this city,”
He stated, showing a willingness to share their mystical knowledge.
By the time evening rolled around, the discussions had finally concluded.
It had been a long meeting, but the chief seemed satisfied.
As we stepped outside, a cool breeze carried the scent of an autumn evening.
Apparently, a welcome party had been prepared at the assembly hall.
With that in mind, we left Elysia’s mansion and headed toward the gathering.
As we walked, the chief suddenly spoke in a reflective tone.
“Well, it’s a relief that the princess is so understanding.”
I nodded lightly and replied,
“Yeah, when you hear ‘elven princess’, she sounds like she’d be hard to approach at first. But Elysia will always listen if you ask her to.”
At that, the chief smirked and said,
“Well, that’s probably because you are the one asking. That girl….”
Then, he suddenly stopped mid-sentence.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
The chief twisted his lips into a knowing grin and muttered,
“You really are clueless… You’re still just a kid.”
With that, he started walking again.
