☆50 Preparing to Face the Storm
Spring arrived. It marked my eighteenth year.
The dark elves had fully integrated into the city, and life remained as lively as ever.
Nactis had joined the scout unit in place of Lucian. His missions were erratic. It often required him to operate on a reversed day-night cycle. But since he didn’t need much sleep to begin with, he seemed to be handling it surprisingly well.
Meanwhile, Alexis had completely seized control of Valford’s territory. He had extended his influence into neighboring lands. There were even rumors circulating—“He’ll be crowned king soon.”
Leonard, the Duke of Celestia, was growing increasingly anxious. The capital Eldora had virtually no military defenses. If Alexis launched an attack, the city would fall in an instant.
Once Alexis became king, he would have plenty of justification to invade Celestia.
And the existence of this Elysia Autonomous Territory would serve as the perfect excuse.
Originally, this land should have belonged to the Kingdom of Valhalion. Yet it was now under the rule of Princess Elysia, functioning almost as a territory of Eldarin.
A storm was brewing—the spring winds carried an ominous weight that stirred unease in my chest.
Of course, we weren’t just sitting around waiting for it to hit.
Our defensive forces were growing stronger by the day.
Elite warriors from various races had gathered, and more mercenaries arrived daily. They swelled our numbers to nearly a thousand.
We weren’t lacking in equipment, either.
Weapons and armor infused with magical properties had been distributed among our troops. They were crafted from the finest processed magic stones of Mistia Mines. Even if we were to face the Valford Knights in one-on-one combat, we wouldn’t be at a disadvantage.
Furthermore, King Eldaris of Eldarin, who adored Elysia, had promised powerful reinforcements when the time came.
His elite forces had already begun advancing into the neighboring Silenia Federation. They made their overwhelming presence an undeniable deterrent to Alexis.
The people we must protect.
The land we must defend.
Everything was falling into place.
No matter what storm came our way—
We would be ready to face it.

Recently, Duke Leonard had been making frequent visits to Elysia. He was keeping her informed of the ever-changing situation.
“Lady Elysia, it seems Alexis’ coronation will be held next month.”
“So, the time has finally come.”
Elysia lowered her gaze slightly.
“In other words, there will be no more obstacles preventing him from advancing?”
“Correct.”
Leonard sighed deeply and nodded.
“He will likely seize control of Eldora first, establishing it as a base before launching an attack on this autonomous zone.”
His expression darkened with frustration as he continued.
“Our top priority is the safety of the citizens. We may have to surrender the city without a fight.”
“I understand.”
Elysia responded firmly.
“I will inform my father immediately and request his support so that he can deploy reinforcements at a moment’s notice.”
“Thank you.”
Leonard bowed deeply in gratitude.
“They claim to stand for ‘equality for all citizens’. But in reality, they rule through military force and oppression. For the future of the Valhalion Kingdom, we must stand against them. Please, lend us your strength.”
Elysia nodded silently. She tightened her grip into a determined fist.

After hearing everything from Elysia, I figured—
It’s time to call in that favor.
Not that I ever considered it a favor, really.
But if I wasn’t going to ask for help now, then when?
I reached for an old, dust-covered communication device sitting in the corner of my room.
It would be my first time calling her myself……. but I just needed to press this red button, right?
I took a breath. I felt a slight nervousness creep in as I pressed it.
After a short pause, a familiar, lively voice rang through.
“Hey, it’s been a while. Didn’t expect to hear from you first. How’ve you been?”
Even through the phone, I could almost picture that bright red hair.
“Long time no see. Yeah, I’m managing.”
“That’s good to hear. So, what’s up?”
“Well… If you’re busy, feel free to say no. But I was hoping you could lend me a hand with something.”
The moment I said it, I felt a wave of hesitation.
This wasn’t just any request. It was a heavy one.
“Actually, I’m in the middle of investigating a request I just received.”
“Ah, I see. Bad timing then. I’ll reach out again later.”
Maybe I should just drop it.
This isn’t something I can ask for so casually.
“Come on now, why are you holding back? You’re in trouble, aren’t you?”
The voice was gentle. Yet, it carried an undeniable strength—something that cut right through hesitation.
“Didn’t I tell you before? If you ever needed me, I’d make you my top priority.”
Those words hit me unexpectedly. It sent a warm rush through my chest.
“Tell me everything.”
That simple request pushed me forward—so I did.
I laid it all out.
Everything about the tense situation in the Elysia Autonomous Territory.
Not a single detail left out.
Lilith listened attentively. She nodded every now and then with a quiet “Hmm, I see.”
Then, after a brief silence, she finally spoke.
“Got it. I’ll head over right away—
And I’ll bring only the best with me.”
