☆52 The Fate of the Twins ①
For the past few days, the scout Liana had been using her “Transcendence” ability to monitor the city of Eldora.
Within the city, a massive army from the kingdom was steadily gathering.
A rough estimate put their numbers at over five thousand knights.
Their gleaming armor and brimming fighting spirit made Liana’s heart falter for a moment.
“I can’t believe this many of them are coming… and some of them look seriously dangerous…!”
As she hurried back to the Autonomous Territory to report, unease pounded against her chest.
Her legs trembled, her breath came in ragged gasps.
It felt like the worst possible nightmare had become reality.
Her mind spun in confusion, the scenery whirling around her.
Even as she sprinted, desperate to get away, the worst-case scenario forced itself into her thoughts.

“They’re finally here.”
After receiving Liana’s report, the defense force’s top brass had gathered in the meeting room of the assembly hall.
Lilith and her group, who had been called in as reinforcements, were also present.
However, despite Liana’s pale, fear-stricken face, the atmosphere in the room remained surprisingly calm.
“We’ve spent so much time preparing for this day. Now, all that’s left is to execute the plan. We just need to believe in our own strength.”
The voice of Ordis was steady and composed. It carried the undeniable presence of a military commander.
“Our equipment is second to none, no matter where you look in the world. Mana differences don’t matter. On top of that, this terrain is in our favor. And most importantly—each of you has endured my rigorous training for weeks, honing your tactics. Be confident.”
A resounding “Ohhh!!” echoed from the assembled warriors. And the air immediately heated with determination.
“We’ll handle their commanders,”
Abyssla interjected coolly. A relaxed expression was on his face.
“All you need to do is keep the common soldiers from getting in our way. With the help of our magical beasts, that shouldn’t be too difficult.”
The fear Liana had felt earlier gradually melted away.
It was as if the sheer strength of their morale was pulling her into its current.
Their battle plan was simple:
-
- Launch a surprise attack from the forests between Eldora and the Autonomous Territory.
-
- Kai will apply buffs to the common soldiers.
-
- Rubis and Griffon will strike from the air, while Kagutsuchi and Vald move unpredictably across the battlefield.
-
- Elysia’s summoned demon will target the enemy’s densely packed formations, with Ordis providing support.
-
- Ordis will assess the battlefield and act as the commanding officer.
-
- Lilith and Abyssla will engage the most dangerous enemies.
-
- Baldorak will fight on the front lines while supporting the common soldiers.
The common soldiers’ coordination had been drilled into them through rigorous training.
They had complete trust in one another.
The dwarven elite was fueled by a burning desire for revenge after being driven from their homeland. They held no hesitation in their eyes—only the promise of their unstoppable might on the battlefield.
Even when facing an overwhelmingly larger force, not a single warrior showed fear.
If anything, their fighting spirit soared. It binded them together under a shared will.
—They would turn the tables on their enemies.
That feeling spread through the room naturally, as if raising the very temperature of the air.
“Well then, I wish you all the best of luck. Let’s return here together and drink to our victory.”
Elysia’s voice was quiet yet resolute, brimming with confidence. And it resonated deeply with everyone.
“OOOOOHHHHH!!!!”
A battle cry erupted, shaking the walls of the conference room. It exploded with heat and intensity.
Their determination and resolve merged into one. It ignited the flames of war about to begin.

Meanwhile, Eldora’s ducal mansion had become the base of operations for the kingdom’s army leaders.
The mansion’s original owners, the Leonard family, had taken refuge in Viscount Rosen’s estate nearby.
“So, the one we’re not supposed to kill is the elf princess, right?”
Sinhar, commander of the Southern Knights, asked the room in a casual tone.
“Please don’t assume from the start that we’ll have to fight. Unconditional surrender is our best option.”
Yuhak responded with exasperation.
“You’re the one who wants to fight the most. Don’t act all innocent now.”
Passieu, the commander of the Western Knights, immediately chimed in.
“I’m not the same person I used to be. Your Majesty, please tell them.”
Alexis was suddenly dragged into the conversation. He shrugged with a wry smile.
“Yeah, well… that’s what he claims. Though, I still find it hard to believe.”
Even with the battle fast approaching, there was a somewhat relaxed atmosphere among the commanders.
“Since we don’t know what the princess looks like, let’s just avoid attacking any elf women altogether.”
“Got it.”
Sinhah answered casually. He then clapped his hands as if to urge everyone forward.
“Alright then, let’s get moving. No need to give them extra time to prepare—we’ll crush them in a flash.”
“Agreed. The knights outside are ready. Your Majesty, shall we proceed?”
All eyes turned to Alexis.
“Understood. Let’s move out.”
With that single command, the once lax atmosphere vanished.
The knights sprang into action, and the curtain of war began to rise—quietly, but inevitably.
