Behind her stood Abyssla, and another unfamiliar man.

Lilith turned her gaze toward the wavy-haired man standing behind her. 

“This is Yuhak. During the last defense battle, he fought against me. He’s the former Commander of the Kingdom’s Royal Capital Knights.” 

“Huh?” 

She just casually dropped a bombshell. 

“Nice to meet you, I’m Yuhak. …I see, you really do look just like His Majesty Alexis.” 

“O-Oh, uh, nice to meet you too.”

This is insanely awkward. 

“I-I heard Lilith advised you not to go down with the ship and suggested becoming an adventurer instead… or something like that?”

Yuhak gave a small, sharp-eyed smile. 

“So, I brought him along. This trip should be good training.” 

Lilith smirked mischievously. 

I mean… inviting someone you literally fought to the death—how does she do that so casually? 

Should I be impressed? 

“Well, you guys just got here and must be tired. So let’s rest today and head out tomorrow.” 

I suggested, and Lilith gave a small nod. 

“Yeah. If we’re heading to the deepest part, we’ll need to prepare properly. We don’t know what’s lurking down there, so we can’t plan everything in advance, but—” 

Her eyes sharpened, and the air grew tense. 

“The number one priority is making sure we all stay alive.” 

Hearing her words, we all gave a solemn nod.

Lilith grinned suggestively.

Before I could finish, Elysia’s face had turned bright red. She pinched the back of my thigh—hard.

“A-Anyway, let’s eat. I’m starving.” 

“Good idea. Let’s grab a bite before we head out.” 

Lilith stifled a laugh and stood up.

As always, the gaping hole stretched wide. It was as if it had carved out the heart of the island itself. The humid tropical heat was already settling in. But a cool breeze rose from the entrance, brushing against my cheeks. 

For the first time in three years, I stepped into the darkness. 

Last time, Elysia had grabbed my arm and practically dragged me in. 

The temperature dropped sharply, and the cold air clung to my skin. 

The stone beneath my feet was hard and icy. 

I still vaguely remembered the path to the bottom.

Hearing our conversation, Yuhak suddenly chimed in. 

“I see… So that rampaging beast in the forest back then was your monster companion. …Our losses were significant, you know.” 

“…Haha. Uh… my bad.” 

“No, it’s in the past now.” 

Yuhak gave a calm smile, as if to say he didn’t mind at all.
