- Rising to Power with Void Magic ~An Exiled Genius Magician Decides To Take Revenge With His New Friends and Create a Utopia~
- Episode 11 - A Promise of Harmony and Retaliation
Allen found unexpected peace in the Beastkin fox tribe’s secret village.
Luna, tasked with keeping an eye on them, was always alert. However, she didn’t really get involved. She wanted to know what kind of power Allen and his friends possessed.
As long as they complied with village regulations, the village elder gave them permission to travel around freely. Allen visited an old library in a peaceful area of the village and rested in an empty house during his stay.
There were books about the history of the Beastkin, forest legends, and some ancient civilizations. Although there was no explicit information about Void Magic, Allen’s curiosity was piqued and his understanding of his own power was improved by learning about the origins of magic and the creation of the world.
Elena gradually made friends with the village’s youth. Hunts and patrols were made easier by her ability to read the wind. She gained the trust of the villagers. Her expressions of loneliness and her tendency to distance herself from people, however, remained constant at times.
Garud quickly grew close to the village blacksmiths because of his great skill and friendly demeanor.Despite their differences in race, beastkin and dwarves had a similar love of fine craftsmanship. In addition to looking for information about a fabled ore, he borrowed the forge to fix and enhance their weapons.
Luna spent the most time with Allen because she was the one keeping watch over them. She didn’t hesitate to ask about his Void Magic.
“How does that power come to life?”
“What does seeing space coordinates mean?”
“Is it related to magic from ancient times?”
Allen was occasionally impressed by Luna’s keen knowledge and insight, but he never provided definitive answers.
This continued for several days.
The four of them gathered around a campfire one peaceful evening. The crackling of the flames was the only sound.
Luna asked Allen a question out of the blue.
“Allen… You have a lot of power. It feels risky, though. How are you going to use it?
Garud and Elena also glanced at Allen. They also wanted to know what his real objective was.
After a long moment of staring at the fire, Allen spoke slowly.
“…retribution.”
He spoke in a heavy, cold voice.
“People I trusted betrayed me.” I was too good for them, so they were envious. They set up a trap and stole my honor, my position, and my future. After that, they chuckled and referred to me as the traitor. He discussed his past in a composed manner while keeping his feelings to himself. He talked about his time at the academy, starting a party, Gilbert’s jealousy, the betrayal at the ruins, and being expelled from the city. After some hesitation, he concluded that if he wanted their assistance, he had to be honest.
His story stunned the others, who remained silent.
For the first time, Elena experienced something akin to sympathy. She was also aware of the hurt caused by betrayal.
Garud was angry. He believed that jealousy was an unjust excuse for harming someone.
Luna became aware of Allen’s extreme darkness and how much his strength had been molded by that suffering.
There was a long pause before Elena spoke.
“…I had a similar experience. I was unable to comply with my officer’s directive to abandon my fellow soldiers. I became a fugitive and was called a traitor as a result.
Garud trailed behind.
“I pursued a novel form of technology that wasn’t associated with our customs. I was expelled from my country and labeled a heretic. Our talent won’t be accepted by the older generation. We will always be the odd one out.
Then Luna said something.
“All I wanted was information. I researched world truths that were taboo in Elven culture. However, the elders forbade it. I simply just wanted to understand everything.
They developed a strong bond even though they didn’t say anything else. They were all familiar with the experience of being pushed away, hurt, and abandoned.
Allen examined each of them individually before stating firmly:
“I’ll get my retribution. On Gilbert… and all those who mocked and betrayed me. But it doesn’t end there. People like us don’t need to be born in the world I want to create. More than hatred, there was a gleam in his eyes. It was a dream’s light.
“A society that genuinely values talent and hard work.” where people are not assessed based on their race or place of birth. A place where everyone is free to live as they please. Let’s construct that world ourselves and to do it, I need your assistance. He extended his heart as well as his hand.
“Will you accompany me? Will you contribute to repairing this damaged world?
It was an unexpected but earnest request. The others, each with their own opinions, listened.
Elena could see the resolve in his eyes. Allen’s dream gave her hope for the people she used to be unable to protect.
“All right. I’ll accompany you. However, I will personally stop you if your power ever becomes unmanageable or if you deviate from the course.
Allen’s dream thrilled Garud. His dwarven bl00d stirred. Perhaps he could contribute to the creation of a new world with his abilities.
“Aha! Sounds like a good time! I, Garud, will join your stupid fantasy! I’ll even craft the finest weapons for your retaliation!
Luna experienced a mixture of duty and excitement. She thought Allen’s quest might reveal the reality of the world.
“The world’s truth is linked to your path. Allow me to join you. You will benefit from my magic and knowledge.
Everybody had a different motivation. However, Allen was aware why they had actually joined him.
“Thank you.” His remarks were brief but profound.
The four of them bonded then, not only through common objectives but also through common suffering, aspirations, and hope.
They bid the village elder farewell the following day.
The elder silently watched them leave without saying much.
“Young people, you have a difficult journey ahead of you. But proceed fearlessly if you think there will be light at the end.
They entered the Forbidden Forest again with those words in their hearts.
The ancient ruins, where Allen first acquired his Void Magic, were their destination. They would use it as their base. They would train diligently there to exact their retribution and realize their dream.
They were scarred by the past. More than that, though, their expressions conveyed courage, resolve, and a fresh commitment to moving forward as a team.
Allen’s lonesome quest for vengeance was over.
With friends by his side, a new battle would start from here.
