- Episode 13 - Proof of Overwhelming Power
“…It’s time for revenge.”
With Allen’s quiet declaration, an overwhelming pressure filled the grand party hall, freezing everything in an instant.
The music stopped. The laughter disappeared. Every eye turned toward Allen—the man who was supposed to be dead—and toward Gilbert, the so-called hero, whose face twisted in fear.
“W-What… What nonsense are you saying!?”
Gilbert couldn’t hide his panic. He stuttered as he shouted, trying to look calm and show the dignity of a knight commander.
“Guards! Where are the guards!? Arrest that man—no, kill him! He’s a traitor to the kingdom!”
But the intense pressure Allen released held the guards in place. No one moved.
Growing impatient, Gilbert began gathering his magic. His face distorted with hatred, trying to turn his fear into anger.
“You should’ve died…! You got lucky and survived, but this is the end! This time, I’ll erase you completely!”
Gilbert started chanting. Flames gathered in both his hands. He was preparing a powerful fire spell—one of his strongest. The temperature in the hall rose quickly, and nobles around them began to scream.
“Burn! Prominence Flare!”
A huge fireball, like a miniature sun, roared toward Allen. It was massive, fast, and impossible to dodge. The heat and destructive force were overwhelming.
But—Allen didn’t move.
As the burning fireball raced toward him, Allen simply raised his right hand and casually waved it.
“…Spatial Distortion.”
In the next moment, something unbelievable happened.
The massive fireball suddenly changed direction—as if it hit an invisible wall—and twisted unnaturally in the air.
It bounced back, flying straight toward Gilbert, the one who had cast it.
“W-What!? Impossible!”
Gilbert was too shocked to react in time. He hurried to cast a defensive spell, but he was too late.
The massive fire spell hit him directly, exploding with a thunderous sound. He was thrown back, slammed into a wall, and rolled on the floor.
There was no sign of the “hero” in his pitiful form now.
The entire hall fell silent.
No one could understand what had just happened.
Allen began walking slowly toward Gilbert, who lay on the ground, groaning in pain and covered in dust.
“…Was that all, hero?”
Allen’s voice was cold and full of scorn.
At that moment, the soldiers of the knight order finally came to their senses. They surrounded Allen. The lord’s personal knights also drew their swords and charged.
“Protect the commander!”
“Kill the traitor!”
“Surround him! Don’t let him escape!”
There were dozens of them—strong knights and trained soldiers. Even though Allen was powerful, it looked like he couldn’t handle them all—until something happened.
From the four corners of the hall, three figures jumped in.
A silver-haired girl surrounded by wind—Elena.
A dwarf holding a massive battle axe—Garud.
And a fox beastman mage with a mysterious aura—Luna.
“Out of the way!”
Elena spread her arms, and a fierce wind stormed through the hall. The soldiers lost their balance, and their coordination broke. The wind turned into sharp blades, cutting through their armor and shields.
“Uoooooh!”
Garud swung his giant black axe—Crusher Axe, reforged by Allen just for him—and smashed through armored knights, sending them flying like rag dolls. His strength was terrifying, like a human tank.
“Spirits of light, bind the guilty. Light Bind!”
Luna raised her staff, and glowing vines rose from the ground and walls. They wrapped around the soldiers’ arms and legs, trapping them. Her spirit magic didn’t cause damage, but it gave her full control over the battlefield.
The three worked together perfectly. Elena disrupted the enemy with wind, Garud smashed them with power, and Luna immobilized them with magic.
The knights couldn’t even reach Allen. One by one, they fell.
Their overwhelming strength and teamwork shocked the guests more than Allen’s power alone.
Allen nodded, pleased with how his allies handled the situation. Then he turned his eyes back to Gilbert.
Gilbert, slumped against the wall, could only tremble. He was terrified by the strength of Allen and his companions.
“Now then, Gilbert. It seems there’s no one left to get in the way.”
Allen stood before Gilbert and began to speak in a loud voice for everyone in the hall to hear.
“What you stole from me wasn’t just my position or fame. You took my trust in my comrades, my pride, everything I built… even my life.”
Allen began to tell the story of what had happened at the ruins of the Ryukoku Mountains.
Gilbert had set a trap.
He used a Mana Disruption Barrier Stone.
He controlled a Mana-Drain Beast.
And finally, he abandoned Allen and faked his death.
Allen’s voice was calm, but the hatred behind his words was enough to send chills down everyone’s spines.
“Lies! All lies! Don’t believe a word of that traitor! I’m the hero! He’s the real betrayer!”
Gilbert screamed desperately, trying to deny everything. But his fear and panic only made Allen’s story more believable.
The nobles in the hall began to murmur.
They were confused. The man they believed was a hero looked so pathetic. The man they were told was a traitor had shown unbelievable strength.
They didn’t know whom to trust.
The lord watched with a bitter expression, frowning deeply. He was clearly angry that the knight commander he had appointed was involved in such a disgrace.
And then—there was Lilia.
She stood frozen, pale, and trembling.
Allen’s words, Gilbert’s disgrace, and her own past betrayal—they all weighed heavily on her. Tears rolled down her cheeks, filled with regret and guilt.
She thought, If only I had made a different choice back then…
The stage for revenge was now set.
The “hero” had fallen. The truth had been exposed. The spectators were shaken.
Allen looked down at the completely isolated Gilbert with cold eyes.
His public execution—just as he had planned—was ready to begin.
