- Episode 6 - Ancient Relic: Void Magic
When the heavy stone door closed completely, the inside of the ruins became completely silent.
The magic inside was thick and pure, very different from the forest outside. It slightly healed Allen’s wounded body, and at the same time, it made him feel like he had entered a place beyond human knowledge. He felt afraid, but also amazed.
Allen slowly stood up and looked around.
The walls of the passage were covered with fine geometric patterns and ancient letters he had never seen before. They gave off a soft light, making the ruins look mysterious and beautiful.
The floor had no dust at all. It looked as if time had stopped.
Even though Allen was still tired and hungry, the strange place and the strong magic coming from deeper inside gave him strength.
As if something was calling him, Allen dragged his feet and walked deeper into the ruins.
He did not know how long he had walked.
At last, he arrived at a wide, dome-shaped space.
The ceiling was high, and it looked like a planetarium. Stars were painted above and softly blinking.
In the center of the room stood a huge altar made of smooth, black stone.
On top of the altar, there was a single stone tablet.
It was about the size of a person’s chest, but it had a powerful presence.
It was smooth and shiny like obsidian, with a deep black color that reminded Allen of space. On its surface, strange patterns moved and blinked, like the night sky or the universe.
Allen felt it right away. This tablet was the source of the strong magic filling the ruins.
(What is this…?)
Allen slowly walked toward the altar, as if his soul was being pulled in.
The power from the tablet had a strange charm that he could not resist.
Thoughts like “What is this? ” or “Is it dangerous? ” no longer mattered.
With a shaking hand, Allen gently touched the black surface.
In that moment—
A loud shock hit him. His vision went black.
It felt like his spirit was pulled out of his body and dropped somewhere at high speed.
In the next moment, Allen noticed he was standing in a space of endless darkness.
He could not feel up or down. Stars sparkled below his feet. It felt like he was floating in space. But he could still breathe and even felt calm.
In front of him, “something” slowly appeared.
It had no clear shape. It looked like a person, a glowing nebula, or maybe a deep abyss. It was an unknown being.
It might have been the master of the ruins, the spirit of an ancient magician, or even the will of the space itself.
The being spoke.
It was not sound. The words echoed directly in Allen’s mind, deep and heavy:
“—Accept the void.”
“—Grasp all things.”
“Do you have the resolve? ”
“Will you become one who knows a new truth? ”
Allen did not understand everything, but he knew one thing—it was a choice.
Would he stay weak and die, or accept this unknown power and walk a new path?
Images filled his mind—Gilbert’s mocking smile. Dario’s pain. Lilia’s tears. The cold looks from the townspeople.
His heart burned with hatred and the desire for revenge.
(I want… power…!)
(I want to make them pay…!)
As Allen shouted in his heart, the space twisted, as if the being had heard him.
“—The contract is complete.”
As those words rang out, a terrible pain rushed through Allen’s body.
It felt like every part of him was being destroyed and rebuilt.
A strange path opened inside him—not like the usual circuits for magic, but a new one that reached deep into his very being. It was a path connected to the “Void.”
Then, a flow of power rushed into him—power beyond human limits.
It was nothing and everything. It could see, bend, break, and connect space itself.
It was the power to control the border between existence and nonexistence.
This was the forbidden magic of the ancient world, the one that once shook the world—and maybe even caused its destruction.
Void Magic.
The flow of power and pain was too much for Allen’s body and mind.
He could not even scream. Darkness swallowed his thoughts again.
He did not know how much time had passed—or if any time had passed at all.
But finally, Allen woke up and realized he was lying in front of the altar.
His body felt heavy like lead. His head hurt, and he was very tired.
(What… happened to me?)
As he slowly sat up, he noticed something had changed.
The way he saw the world was completely different.
He could now see the space around him like it had thin layers or grids. Everything looked slightly bent and strange. It felt like he was looking at the blueprint of the world itself.
He looked at his hand.
Black mist—or maybe a distortion in space—rose from his fingertips. It looked dark and dangerous, but it also felt natural to him.
(Is this… the power… Void Magic…?)
He focused and tried to pick up a small piece of rubble nearby.
Before, he might have used telekinesis or simply reached out.
But this time, when Allen thought, “Pick up,” something strange happened.
The space between him and the rubble twisted like soft candy, and the piece was pulled into his hand.
“What…!?”
Allen was shocked and quickly stopped the power. The space returned to normal, and the piece dropped to the ground.
This was Void Magic—the power to interfere with space itself. It was powerful and unnatural.
And right now, he had no control over it.
Allen was surprised, but deep inside, he felt something real.
He still could not use normal magic. His body was weak.
But he had gained a new power.
A trump card for his revenge.
Allen stood up and looked at the stone tablet again.
The patterns on its surface were gone. It was now just a quiet, black stone.
Its job was done.
Allen made up his mind.
He would make this ruin his home. He would study Void Magic and learn to control it.
The day of revenge was still far away.
But he had taken his first step.
