Rumor Has It I Don’t Follow A-Class Morals - Chapter 11
“Where are you guys taking me?”
Ming Muyao muttered unhappily to herself. I still need to get home for dinner.
Xu Bu smiled, glanced at the rearview mirror, and said, “Come on, Ming-jie, don’t be upset. You’ve been out of the hospital for ages and never contacted us. Now that we finally ran into you, of course we gotta have some fun, right?”
The woman in the leather jacket sitting next to Ming Muyao nodded enthusiastically and chimed in, “Xu Bu’s right. Ever since you got discharged, you’ve been MIA. Don’t you get bored staying home all day?”
“It’s fine,” Ming Muyao leaned back in her seat. Not like I can get out of the car now anyway. Might as well see what these people are up to.
Seeing that Ming Muyao wasn’t in the mood to chat, the leather jacket woman didn’t push it. Instead, she turned to the person in the front passenger seat and started chatting casually.
From their small talk, Ming Muyao figured out the identities of the other two people besides Xu Bu.
The short-haired woman next to her was named Yan Wei. She seemed very familiar with Ming Muyao, knew quite a bit about her, and acted very close.
The man in the front seat was Zhong Jianan. His hair was meticulously styled, with striking features and a bit of a student vibe—young, but the way he talked was annoyingly slick, giving off a greasy vibe.
The three of them chatted as the car sped along. Ming Muyao realized they were planning to take her to Xu Bu’s bar to hang out. They had just happened to pass by her neighborhood, and when they spotted her roasting chestnuts at the intersection, they grabbed her and pulled her into the car.
The sports car roared loudly as it sped down the road. Ming Muyao didn’t like this kind of driving and had to remind Xu Bu multiple times to slow down. Xu Bu finally gave her some respect and stopped weaving through traffic like a maniac.
After about ten minutes, they pulled up in front of a bar—finally there.
Ming Muyao got out of the car, not forgetting her marinated snacks and roasted chestnuts. She glanced at the bar’s name: “Glimmer.”
Pretty elegant name.
Xu Bu probably noticed Ming Muyao wanted to leave, so she quickly dragged her inside the bar. She led the group confidently to a private room, chatting as they walked, “You guys enjoy yourselves tonight. Everyone’s here, and in a bit, I’ll have some of the new Omegas come over to drink with you.”
As she pushed open the door with the shimmering stained glass, deafening music blared out, and the dim room was filled with men and women lounging around.
Ming Muyao glanced at the people on the sofa—two men and one woman. They all looked like Alphas, each holding a scantily clad girl. One girl sat in a lap, another was cutting fruit.
When they saw the door open, all eyes turned to Ming Muyao. Upon seeing her outfit, they all burst into laughter and walked over, checking her out.
“Ming Muyao, what are you wearing? And what’s that you’re carrying? Marinated snacks? You are bringing us bar snacks?”
The chaotic mix of scents on them made Ming Muyao physically uncomfortable. Guess these people were pretty close with the original Muyao.
“I was just out buying groceries, and they dragged me over.” Not wanting them to find out about her “memory loss,” she pointed at Yan Wei and Zhong Jianan and said, “If you’re gonna blame someone, blame them.”
They all laughed loudly, then pulled Yan Wei and Zhong Jianan into their conversation—and dragged Ming Muyao to sit on the sofa too.
The Omega next to her noticed the chestnuts and snacks in her hand and asked curiously, “Sis, who are those for?”
Ming Muyao glanced at her. She was wearing a tight white dress that barely covered her chest and butt, showing off a slim waist and pale skin.
The girl smelled sweet—maybe perfume, maybe her own pheromones. It was a fresh, rose-like scent.
Ming Muyao’s head started spinning a little from the scent. She averted her eyes and said, “They’re for my wife.”
Maybe it was the word “wife” that caught her off guard, but the Omega froze for a moment, then scooted over to sit next to Yan Wei instead.
Yan Wei seemed to like the fresh rose-scented Omega. She wrapped an arm around her, smiling happily, and even fed her drinks, the two of them sharing a mic to sing together.
Xu Bu came in with a group of girls, and among them was the Omega who looked a bit like Su Yin—the one Ming Muyao had seen in that video. She couldn’t help but take a few extra glances.
In the video, this girl had some resemblance to Su Yin in the eyes and brows, but seeing her in person, it was clear they weren’t quite the same.
Xu Bu noticed Ming Muyao’s gaze and guessed that she was interested in this Su Yin lookalike. She helpfully introduced, “Ming-jie, this is a new little O—her name’s Lingling. How about she keeps you company tonight?”
Lingling seemed surprised by Ming Muyao’s outfit too, but didn’t show it. She sat next to her and poured her a drink.
“Here, have a drink,” Lingling said softly. “I’ll be with you tonight…”
Ming Muyao looked at the Omega in front of her. She was wearing a black strapless gown with a high waist and plunging neckline that showed off her great figure. Her shoulders and neck were long and fair, with her hair pinned up and a couple curls falling at her temples, making her look gentle and beautiful.
Lingling seemed just a little older than Su Yin—early twenties at most.
Staring at the drink handed to her, Ming Muyao took it and placed it on the table without taking a sip.
Lingling looked at her nervously, wondering if she’d done something wrong.
“I don’t drink,” Ming Muyao said calmly. Then she reached into the bag, pulled out a handful of warm roasted chestnuts, and placed them in Lingling’s hand. “It’s not easy for you either. Have something to eat.”
Before Lingling could react, Ming Muyao stood up and casually made up an excuse to step out of the room.
Standing outside the door, she took out her phone and checked the time. It had already been over half an hour since she left to buy groceries. She wondered if Aunt Chen and Su Yin were getting worried.
She called home and told them she ran into something and would be back a bit later.
After hanging up, she left the bar.
Xu Bu probably didn’t expect her to leave within five minutes, so no one stopped her on the way out. She flagged down a cab on the street outside the bar and got home before 6 PM.
The roasted chestnuts were already cold, but the marinated and chilled dishes were meant to be eaten that way anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal.
Aunt Chen took the food from her and asked curiously, “Did something happen on the way? I thought you weren’t coming back for dinner.”
Ming Muyao took off her coat and hung it up. “Ran into some people I knew. Got held up a bit.”
“People you knew?”
Others might not know about her memory loss, but Aunt Chen did. How could Ming Muyao tell if they were actually people she knew?
It was too complicated to explain, so she just smiled and said, “People Xu Bu brought along. I guess they knew me. We chatted a bit, and I came home. Took longer than I thought.”
Aunt Chen responded with an “oh,” then said, “Alright, I’ll go finish dinner. Go wash your hands—you can eat soon.”
Ming Muyao nodded. After changing her shoes and walking into the house, she immediately saw Su Yin in the living room.
Su Yin got up from the couch and trotted over, but the closer she got, the slower her steps became. She stopped about three or four meters away, standing there without moving.
Ming Muyao was confused by her behavior. She gave an awkward smile, walked two steps closer, and said, “What, not coming to greet me?”
Su Yin looked pale. As Ming Muyao moved closer, she stepped back.
“Where… did you go?” Su Yin stared blankly at her, the scent of various pheromones on Ming Muyao’s body making her face turn ghostly white. “Did you go to a bar again?”
That word—”again”—made Ming Muyao feel a little uncomfortable.
She looked at Su Yin, confused. “How do you know?”
Su Yin’s face was ashen. “You smell like other people’s pheromones. It’s strong.”
It was a scent she was all too familiar with.
Ming Muyao had never been one to sit still. Su Yin could never fully satisfy her, so she’d often go out with friends to bars and clubs, looking for something new.
Every time she came home late at night, she carried that same scent.
Alcohol, pheromones, perfume—all mixed into something especially pungent. Every time, it made Su Yin feel sick.
She had thought Ming Muyao changed—that she wouldn’t hit her, wouldn’t yell anymore.
But now, just a week later, Ming Muyao had come home smelling like this again. It felt like everything had gone back to the way it was.
Ming Muyao hadn’t expected Su Yin to be able to tell where she’d been just from smell. She raised her arm and took a sniff. She could faintly pick up unfamiliar scents.
So this is what pheromones smell like?
She still wasn’t used to living in an ABO world. Her knowledge of pheromones was limited to what she’d seen online. This was the first time she’d experienced it for real.
Turns out… pheromones can actually be smelled.
So if I go anywhere, Su Yin can just sniff me and know if I was around an Omega?
Ming Muyao was a little shocked by this setting. She looked at Su Yin and instinctively began to explain, “It’s not what you think. I just went to the bar for a bit, then came straight home. I didn’t go anywhere else, didn’t do anything to betray you.”
Su Yin looked at her for a long time before saying softly, “It’s okay…”
She said to Ming Muyao, “You can do whatever you want.”
