Rumor Has It I Don’t Follow A-Class Morals - Chapter 32
“Su Yin, do you want to go back to school?”
Ming Muyao looked at the girl in front of her and said, “I heard from Aunt Chen that back when your family had that accident, you were in the second semester of your senior year. You didn’t take the college entrance exam and came to live with me instead. It’s been a year now. I don’t know if you still want to go back to school.”
Su Yin stared blankly at her, thinking she must have heard wrong.
She had given up on her studies back then because Ming Muyao didn’t like overly smart girls.
An Omega just needed to be pretty and delicate. She was looking for a wife, not a business partner—so what use was being so smart?
But now, Ming Muyao felt that being well-educated and knowledgeable wasn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Ever since she woke up, she had often seen Su Yin idle at home—either helping Aunt Chen with chores or squatting under the eaves watching snails.
Just before she came in today, Ming Muyao had seen Su Yin holding a poetry book, reading quietly. It reminded her of her own younger sister.
If someone gave up on school because of circumstances beyond their control, Ming Muyao didn’t approve of that.
Especially now that no one was forcing Su Yin to stay home. She could go out, visit her mother in the nursing home, and she should have her own life too.
Clearly, going back to school was something Su Yin had never even considered. In this moment, she was too stunned to react, just staring at Ming Muyao in a daze.
Ming Muyao walked over and took Su Yin’s hand, saying, “Three months might be a bit tight, right? Maybe spend some more time with your mom, and then when the new semester starts in September, you can repeat your senior year.”
Su Yin instantly snapped out of it and grabbed her hand. “I want to go back to school!”
She had thought she’d never get the chance to study again. But now that Ming Muyao had brought it up, there was no way she was letting it go.
Ming Muyao was kind and agreeable now—but what if she wasn’t later?
What if that other Ming Muyao came back? What would happen to her and her mom then?
Studying might not be her only way out, but it was a path she could still take. And Su Yin genuinely liked learning. She wanted to go to college, to live a normal life like other people her age.
Clutching Ming Muyao’s hand, the courage she’d just found suddenly faded again. Her eyes turned red as she asked, “I really can go? You’re not lying to me?”
“I’m not lying, and I never will,” Ming Muyao said, squeezing her hand gently. “But are you sure three months is enough time to catch up? I really think it’s better to wait till September. I can find you a better school where you can study properly for a full year before taking the exam.”
But Su Yin shook her head. “Three months is enough. The school I want to apply to doesn’t have a high cutoff score.”
The truth was, she was afraid she wouldn’t make it to September.
If she started in September, the exam wouldn’t be until June of the following year. That was a long time, and Su Yin was scared that halfway through, the other Ming Muyao would come back.
If that happened, all hope would be gone.
Looking at Ming Muyao, she said, “The school is specifically for Omegas. The entrance score isn’t very high, and it’s in the city. After graduation, it’s easy to stay on and work or teach there. That’s all I want.”
Seeing how determined she was, Ming Muyao didn’t say anything more. She just nodded and said, “Alright, then start preparing now. Get some textbooks and review materials. I’ll handle the rest.”
Su Yin nodded earnestly.
After the excitement passed, she started to feel a little nervous, as if the happiness she’d just felt wasn’t real.
“I should get back to work,” Ming Muyao said, gently patting Su Yin’s head with a smile. “Go eat in the cafeteria. We’ll talk more tonight.”
Watching Ming Muyao leave the hospital room, Su Yin had to sit for a long while before she managed to calm down. She looked at the woman lying in the bed, eyes closed, and gently took her hand.
“Mom,” Su Yin whispered, eyes red, trying to smile but failing. Two tears slipped down her face before she even realized it.
Holding her mother’s hand tightly, she said in a choked voice, “I can go back to school again… You have to wake up soon, okay?”
Trending topics on the internet only stayed hot for a little while. After a couple of days, they vanished without a trace.
Ming Muyao had worried the online buzz might affect Su Yin’s mood, but to her surprise, Su Yin didn’t seem to care about it at all. She hadn’t even mentioned it once.
Meanwhile, on An Jinyao’s end, ever since she connected with someone from Ruicheng Group, she’d been trying hard to arrange a proper meeting. Finally, that weekend, she managed to set up an appointment with Ruicheng’s CEO, Heng Jingxian. But the woman didn’t seem interested in dinner or drinks—instead, the meeting was set in a quiet teahouse.
The place didn’t matter, and neither did what they were doing.
What mattered was making Heng Jingxian see how profitable the investment could be!
You could stretch the truth a little, but not too much. Ming Muyao had warned her again and again—Heng Jingxian was a tough one. Be sincere, no games.
Just as she ended the call, the private tutor she’d arranged had already arrived.
Today, Ming Muyao took Su Yin to a shopping center near their home. There was a reputable training center inside that mainly focused on test prep for students studying abroad and for domestic high school students who had failed the college entrance exam.
The prices were steep, but it was convenient. As long as you paid, they took care of everything.
The tutor was a woman with glasses, probably an Alpha. When she saw Su Yin and Ming Muyao, her expression flickered briefly, but she still smiled and greeted them warmly.
“Hello, I’m Ms. Li, one of the tutors here,” she said to Ming Muyao. “This must be Su Yin?”
Ming Muyao nodded. “That’s right.”
“What’s Su Yin’s current situation?” Ms. Li turned to Su Yin and asked, “Did you take a break from school this year, or was there another reason?”
Su Yin glanced at Ming Muyao and replied a little awkwardly, “I was in my senior year last year, but something happened, so I didn’t take the exam. I haven’t been in school this year either.”
Ming Muyao added, “Now we just want to enroll her in a class so she can catch up and see if she can take the exam this year.”
Looking over her previous academic records, Ms. Li hesitated. “Ms. Ming, as you know, it’s already March. There are only three months left before the college entrance exam. If Su Yin joins a class now, she might not be able to keep up.”
“Whether she can or not, we’ll only know once she tries,” Ming Muyao said firmly, like a parent advocating for her child. “Money’s not a problem. What matters is that she wants to study. The school she’s aiming for doesn’t have a very high score requirement. She still has a shot, right?”
Ms. Li looked at Su Yin’s old mock exam scores and thought for a moment. “If she joins now, we can’t guarantee any results. It’ll all depend on her own effort.”
“That’s fine,” Ming Muyao said with a smile. “Then I’ll leave the paperwork to you.”
Enrolling wasn’t too difficult. Ming Muyao chose a class with a moderate pace for Su Yin.
“Classes are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” Ms. Li explained. “No early or evening self-study. Weekends are off. The schedule is similar to regular school, but joining mid-semester might feel a bit overwhelming at first. If anything comes up, just talk to your instructors.”
After going over the details, Ms. Li took Su Yin on a quick tour of the learning center.
Once that was done, Ming Muyao took her home.
Aunt Chen had been waiting at the door and rushed out as soon as she saw the car pull in.
Su Yin got out carrying a big stack of books, and when Aunt Chen tried to help, she nearly threw out her back.
“What on earth is this? Why’s it so heavy?” Aunt Chen looked at the thick textbooks in surprise. “You’re supposed to study all of this?”
Su Yin explained, “These are all the senior year textbooks. The practice workbooks will be handed out later in class.”
—
As Ming Muyao got out of the car, she saw the two of them chatting away and smiled. “Su Yin starts class on Monday. The training center isn’t far. How do you want to get there?”
Su Yin turned and said, “I can walk.”
“It takes about twenty minutes to walk, you know.”
“That’s fine.”
Holding her books close, Su Yin said, “I want to walk.”
Ming Muyao didn’t press the issue and just agreed.
After resting over the weekend, Ming Muyao transferred several tens of thousands of yuan to Su Yin’s account as her allowance. She told her she’d deposit more every month, and if it wasn’t enough, she could just ask.
Su Yin looked at the card in her hand, feeling strangely uneasy.
She looked up at Ming Muyao and suddenly realized—ever since the car accident, the way Ming Muyao treated her had completely changed. She was being treated like normal family now.
Subconsciously, Su Yin touched the gland at the back of her neck…
On Monday, Su Yin went to class, and Ming Muyao received some good news—An Jinyao and her team had returned.
Since she had nothing else going on, Ming Muyao decided to pick them up at the airport herself. She also had some things she needed to talk to An Jinyao about—stuff that was hard to explain over the phone.
She brought the company driver but also drove one of the cars herself. A whole entourage headed for the airport.
As soon as An Jinyao walked out with her suitcase and spotted Ming Muyao, her heart skipped a beat.
Ever since she got drunk and called her, she’d been feeling guilty, wondering if she’d said something she shouldn’t have. The next day she’d nervously called Ming Muyao to apologize, and Ming Muyao had brushed it off, saying it was nothing—which had finally calmed her down.
But now?
Why was Ming Muyao picking her up in person?
That had never happened before, not even once. So the first thought that popped into An Jinyao’s head was: I’m screwed.
She knew it. A woman like Ming Muyao—calculating and ruthless—wouldn’t let anything slide. She had to have said something awful that night, and now Ming Muyao was here to take her down!
Though her mind was in chaos, An Jinyao still kept a calm and professional smile as she walked up to her and extended a hand.
“President Ming, what a surprise! You didn’t have to come all this way.”
Ming Muyao smiled gently at her employees and said warmly, “You all worked hard on this trip. I’ve arranged a nice dinner to welcome you back. Come on, ride with me.”
As she spoke, she even gave An Jinyao a light pat, signaling her to get in the car.
And all An Jinyao could think at that moment was just three words—A death trap.
