Rumor Has It I Don’t Follow A-Class Morals - Chapter 37
Su Yin lowered her head, not daring to meet Ming Muyao’s gaze. She didn’t even know what she had done wrong, eyes darting around nervously.
“Su Yin.”
Ming Muyao took her hand and spoke seriously, “I think I’ve been pretty good to you, right? Maybe not perfect in every detail, but I’ve done my best. Don’t you think so?”
Su Yin nodded.
“Then in that case, shouldn’t you be honest with me?” Ming Muyao’s tone softened. “You’ve been acting cold toward me all day. It really hurt.”
As she spoke, she even put on a wounded expression, which instantly made Su Yin panic.
“No, it’s not that—I wasn’t being cold to you,” Su Yin quickly explained, her face flushing as the words tumbled out awkwardly. “It’s just… we haven’t been close in a while. When you touch me, I feel a little uncomfortable…”
Ming Muyao paused in surprise before asking, “That’s the only reason?”
Su Yin lowered her head in thought and added, “I’m scared of your scent.”
Her scent?
Ming Muyao raised her arm and gave herself a sniff. She hadn’t even put on perfume this morning. What scent could Su Yin be talking about?
“It’s not perfume,” Su Yin said, looking at her. “It’s your natural scent… It makes me uncomfortable. It brings up some really bad memories.”
Hearing that, Ming Muyao immediately understood.
Even though she’d done her best to change the image of herself in Su Yin’s mind, the things the other Ming Muyao had done were just too awful. No matter how hard she tried, that lingering discomfort would still haunt Su Yin.
If I were Su Yin, I’d probably feel the same.
Ming Muyao opened her mouth, wanting to tell Su Yin the truth—that she wasn’t that person anymore—but in the end, she said nothing. She just stared at Su Yin for a long moment before finally saying, “When the time is right, I’ll explain everything.”
Su Yin looked at her in confusion, but Ming Muyao just forced a smile and reached out her hand. “Let’s go see the doctor first.”
After leaving the hidden passage, Ming Muyao took Su Yin straight to the doctor.
The follow-up exam turned out just as Ming Muyao expected—no improvement. The doctor frowned at the wound on the back of Su Yin’s neck and said, “This won’t do. If there’s no progress, we’ll have to consider surgery.”
Ming Muyao knew that gland surgery in this world was extremely risky. One wrong move and you could end up with a lifelong disability. Most people avoided it if they could.
“Doctor, I’m her Alpha. I heard I can help with the treatment—can we try that?” Ming Muyao asked directly.
The doctor looked up at her, then glanced at Su Yin before going back to his notes. “Fine. I’ll change the treatment plan. You two can try this first.”
After writing a prescription, the doctor handed it to Ming Muyao and said, “Take the meds on time. I’ve reduced the dosage. You’ll need to assist with treatment two to three times a week—use your pheromones to soothe your Omega. You know how to do that, right?”
Ming Muyao didn’t dare admit she had no clue, so she said, “I think I kind of know how.”
“Either you know or you don’t. What’s with the ‘kind of’?” The doctor clearly wasn’t impressed with her and snapped, “If you can help, then help. If not, let her get the surgery. Stop treating Omegas like they’re just your accessories. She’s your wife, yes—but she’s also a person!”
Seeing the doctor was about to go on another rant, Ming Muyao quickly said, “I don’t really know how. Could you teach me?”
The doctor was even angrier now, slapping the table. “You Alphas are all the same! No one needs to teach you how to have fun, but when it comes to something that actually matters, suddenly you’re all helpless! If you didn’t know, you should’ve said so earlier. Do I have to drag it out of you?”
Ming Muyao endured the scolding and focused hard on learning how to use her pheromones to soothe an Omega. She felt like a grown adult being lectured like a schoolkid, breaking into a cold sweat the entire time.
Finally, after figuring it out, she was ready to try—but the doctor scolded her again. “You gonna try it here? You think the next patient can just wait forever? Go home and figure it out!”
The two of them left the clinic feeling utterly defeated and made it back home just in time for lunch.
Aunt Chen looked up when she saw them and asked, “How did the check-up go? What did the doctor say?”
“Not much,” Ming Muyao replied, handing her the new medication. “The dosage has been reduced, so she won’t be taking as much. Take it like before. The rest is up to me.”
Aunt Chen blinked, then suddenly understood everything and smiled knowingly.
“I get it, I get it,” she said as she took the medicine. “You two handle your own business. Now go wash up for lunch—I’ll dish it out.”
As Aunt Chen put the meds into the first-aid box and went off to the kitchen, Su Yin turned to look at Ming Muyao. “Why was she smiling so much?”
Ming Muyao thought for a moment and replied, “Probably hoping we’ll get along better.”
Su Yin wasn’t a naive little girl anymore. Even if she didn’t catch on right away, after that hint from Ming Muyao, her ears turned red.
“Let’s wash up and eat,” Ming Muyao said. “After dinner, I’ll come to your room.”
Su Yin: “…”
She snuck a glance at Ming Muyao, then gave a tiny nod. “Okay.”
That night, Su Yin showered, took her meds, and sat on her bed flipping through a textbook when she heard a knock on the door.
Ming Muyao’s voice came from outside. “Su Yin, can I come in?”
“You can.”
As soon as she said it, Su Yin tensed up. She quickly put her textbook aside and stared at the door, wide-eyed. When Ming Muyao walked in, she felt her whole body heat up.
Looking at Su Yin sitting on the bed, Ming Muyao was struck with a strange feeling.
It’s like… the little girl I used to treat like a sister is suddenly sitting on my bed, waiting to be intimate with me.
She forced herself to stay calm and walked to the edge of the bed, looking down at Su Yin. She noticed her hair was still damp—she’d clearly just showered.
She even took a shower?
Ming Muyao felt her breath catch. That strange feeling only grew stronger.
“Shall we start?” she asked. “Right here on the bed?”
“Mm.” Su Yin nodded and scooted over to make room for her.
The atmosphere in the room was thick with tension. Neither of them spoke, making everything feel even more awkward.
Ming Muyao looked at Su Yin sitting across from her in a set of long-sleeved, long-pants pajamas. The pajamas were covered in silly-looking little penguins, and at the moment, those penguins were staring right at Ming Muyao—just like their owner.
It made her a little nervous.
Su Yin fidgeted with her sleeves, staring at Ming Muyao with wide, pale eyes. She didn’t say anything, but her gaze was clear and intense.
“So…”
Sitting across from her, Ming Muyao finally forced herself to say, “Then I’ll start?”
Su Yin nodded and closed her eyes.
Honestly, she was still a little scared. But the current Ming Muyao felt different from before, so her defenses were slightly lower.
But after a long while, she didn’t smell anything. Curious, she opened her eyes.
The woman sitting across from her was frowning deeply, face turning red like she was trying to squeeze something out with all her strength.
Su Yin tilted her head. “You… still don’t know how?”
Ming Muyao, blushing furiously, said, “Stop rushing me. Let me try again.”
She tried again and again—four or five times—but couldn’t figure out how to release her pheromones. She ended up drenched in sweat.
“This is so hard,” she groaned, collapsing onto the bed. Staring at the ceiling, she muttered, “I’m using every ounce of strength I have, and still nothing…”
Su Yin sat properly on the bed, looking at her with concern. “Are you okay?”
How could I be okay?
What even are pheromones? Why can everyone else release them so easily, but I can’t do it at all? Is this some kind of punishment for being an outsider???
Ming Muyao stared blankly at the ceiling, then sat up again after two minutes. “Let me try one more time. I can do this!”
Su Yin offered a few tips as she watched her strain again. But it was like Ming Muyao had some kind of block—no matter what, she couldn’t get her pheromones to come out properly. Even when she did manage to release a tiny bit, it would disappear almost immediately, leaving them both awkward and exhausted.
In the end, Ming Muyao was completely wiped. She held her aching head and said, “Maybe we should try again tomorrow. My head’s really hurting right now…”
Su Yin helped her up with a worried look. “You don’t have to force yourself. I can just get the surgery.”
“No more talk about surgery. We’re still family.” Ming Muyao rubbed her temples. She glanced back at Su Yin, soft and sweet as ever, and felt like she’d just run an 800-meter sprint—completely wiped out.
“I’ll come back tomorrow,” she said. “I must be too tired today. Let me do some research when I get back.”
Su Yin couldn’t convince her otherwise and eventually nodded.
Back in her own room, Ming Muyao took a shower. Lying on the soft bed, she tried again—following the doctor’s instructions and focusing hard—but her pheromones were still playing hard to get. Either nothing came out, or it was patchy and unstable. She was thoroughly exhausted.
The next night, she tried again with Su Yin. The two of them sat there for over an hour, staring at each other. Still, no success.
By Monday morning, Ming Muyao could barely get out of bed. She dragged her exhausted body to the office and almost showed up late.
An Jingyao had already gotten everything ready and addressed the group. “Today we’re picking up Mr. Heng from Ruicheng. Stay sharp and look presentable. Whether they invest in us or not depends on how well this inspection goes!”
Just as she finished speaking, someone stepped out of the elevator.
The woman walked with unsteady steps, visibly tired—and wasn’t that their boss, Ming Muyao?
An Jingyao looked at her and couldn’t help twitching at the corner of her mouth.
This woman must’ve spent another night lost in some unknown den of pleasure.
