Rumor Has It I Don’t Follow A-Class Morals - Chapter 51
After the treatment was over, Ming Muyao sat by the bed, watching Su Yin’s cheek half-buried in the blanket from exhaustion.
The pheromone-assisted therapy was indeed effective, but it really tested both of their patience.
Dark circles had already started to form under Su Yin’s eyes, and with her slightly swollen eyelids, she looked delicate and worn-out—so much so that it made your heart ache just looking at her.
Ming Muyao reached out and gently touched her. Su Yin scrunched her brows and buried her face even deeper into the blanket.
“Tired, huh?” Ming Muyao’s voice was soft as she looked at her. She thought about how Su Yin had to go through treatment, prepare for exams, and still visit her mother at the nursing home on weekends. That kind of schedule would wear anyone out—let alone someone like Su Yin.
But Su Yin was incredibly strong. She never once complained, no matter how busy or drained she was.
Maybe it was because she knew that if she didn’t work hard, she’d end up right back where she started—kept like a caged canary in a villa, with no future in sight and no way to see her biological mother.
Ming Muyao let out a sigh. Tomorrow was the weekend, but she still had to work overtime.
Since when did being the boss mean still having to work weekends?
Truly unjust.
But if she didn’t work overtime, the company might go under. Either way, she was stuck. Choosing work meant she couldn’t spend proper time with Su Yin.
After thinking it over, she finally bent down and kissed Su Yin’s soft, pale cheek. In a gentle voice, she said, “When you wake up tomorrow, see if you want to come to the office with me?”
The next morning, while Ming Muyao was sitting at the dining table drinking coffee, she heard the sound of a door opening upstairs.
When she turned her head, she saw Su Yin walking out in the same nightgown she had worn the night before, her long hair a messy tangle. She rubbed her eyes as she walked, yawning widely as she passed the hallway railing.
Aunt Chen caught sight of her and couldn’t help but chuckle. She placed a freshly fried egg on Ming Muyao’s plate and said softly, “Yinyin’s up early today. Poor girl looks so sleepy.”
Ming Muyao took a sip of coffee and smiled lightly. “She’s been too tired lately. I was hoping she’d sleep in a bit.”
“Yes, sleeping more would help her put on some weight too,” Aunt Chen said cheerfully. “She weighed herself a few days ago—gained over ten pounds! Doesn’t she look healthier now?”
“She gained that much?” Ming Muyao looked at her in surprise, wide-eyed. “I figured she’d put on some weight, but not this much.”
“She’s young and spends a lot of time sitting. Just a little more food and she gains quickly.”
“Mm, Su Yin really does look healthier. You can prepare more snacks for her. Kids these days all love those, right?”
“I’ve been making them, but she only eats a couple bites. I think she’s worried that gaining weight will make her look bad. Girls these days all want to stay skinny.”
Ming Muyao’s eyes crinkled with laughter. She could already picture Su Yin resisting temptation even though she was clearly craving a bite.
Upstairs, Su Yin had no idea she was being discussed. After brushing her teeth and washing her face, she came downstairs holding the handrail and curiously leaned over the table. “Are we having eggs and toast today?”
“Yes, and I fried some sausage for you too. Just sit tight, it’ll be ready in a minute,” Aunt Chen said as she headed back into the kitchen.
Su Yin sat on the chair, swinging her legs. She didn’t touch the bread or eggs, instead pouring herself a glass of milk.
“Why aren’t you eating?” Ming Muyao glanced at her, curious.
“I want to wait for the sausage so I can put it all together,” Su Yin said, sipping her milk. A layer of foam clung to her lips, and she casually stuck out her tongue to lick it away.
Watching her soft little tongue, Ming Muyao suddenly felt her throat itch. She quickly turned her head and took a sip of coffee to soothe it before asking, “It’s Saturday today. You don’t have class, right?”
Su Yin looked up blankly, hugging her glass. “Mm.”
She’d been so mentally drained from all the studying that she’d decided to buckle down even harder today. She might not be able to get back to her old level, but she couldn’t afford to do poorly either.
That would be too embarrassing.
Ming Muyao asked, “Are you going to visit your mom today?”
Su Yin shook her head. “I want to review today and go through my mistake log. See what I’ve been getting wrong.”
So diligent.
Her seriousness made Ming Muyao feel a little guilty. She’d originally planned to take Su Yin out for a break—work half a day at the office, then spend the afternoon shopping or relaxing.
But hearing Su Yin’s response, she hesitated, then said, “I have to work at the office today. I was thinking, if you were free, maybe you could come keep me company…”
As she spoke, she put down her coffee cup with a resigned look. “But if you’re studying, I’ll head out on my own.”
Su Yin was stunned for a second, then quickly stopped her. “Wait!”
Ming Muyao stood by the table, looking at her in confusion.
She stopped her, but now Su Yin didn’t know what to say. After a moment, she spoke awkwardly. “I can go with you. Studying’s the same no matter where I do it…”
Ming Muyao’s eyes lit up. She didn’t give Su Yin a chance to change her mind and said cheerfully, “Great! I’ll wait a bit. Finish your breakfast and pack your things, then we’ll head to the office.”
Su Yin nodded just as Aunt Chen brought over the sausage. She quickly assembled a sandwich and wolfed it down, then ran upstairs to change and grab her stuff.
Aunt Chen glanced at Ming Muyao and asked, “I heard everything from the kitchen. You two going to the office? Will you be back for dinner?”
“Hard to say,” Ming Muyao said with a smile. “I’ll call before five. If we’re not back, we’ll eat out.”
Aunt Chen shook her head and shooed them off.
In the car, Su Yin was still checking through her backpack. Today she planned to go over all the questions she got wrong on her mock exams, so she didn’t need much—just some test papers and a notebook. Light and easy to carry.
Ming Muyao glanced at her in the passenger seat and thought that, for once, working on a weekend didn’t feel so bad.
When they arrived at the office, the parking lot was nearly empty. Ming Muyao took Su Yin upstairs, and while they waited for the elevator, she said, “You can study in my office. I have a meeting to attend, but it should be done before lunch. After that, we can go out for a bit.”
Su Yin nodded. It wasn’t her first time at the office, but the place still felt unfamiliar. She followed Ming Muyao out of the elevator, eyes full of curiosity as she looked around.
Ming Muyao, glancing at the little shadow trailing behind her, thought that technically half this company belonged to Su Yin too. After all, they were legally married—assets and debts were shared.
A few unfortunate coworkers were also stuck working overtime. They stood up to greet Ming Muyao when they saw her. She nodded back and led Su Yin into her office.
It was bright and spacious, freshly cleaned. Ming Muyao tidied the desk a bit, then pulled out her executive chair and grinned. “Come on, President Su.”
Su Yin froze, and her face turned red as a tomato. She shook her head hard.
She didn’t even get into college. How could she be called President Su? Ming Muyao was teasing her again!
Seeing her reaction, Ming Muyao couldn’t help but laugh. She walked over, grabbed Su Yin’s hand, and guided her to the chair. Pressing down on her shoulders, she smiled warmly. “Just messing with you. Why are you so nervous?”
Su Yin hugged her backpack and glared hard at her.
Ming Muyao looked at her puffed-up, angry face and was suddenly reminded of a little pufferfish—especially when Su Yin glared at her like that. It made her heart itch.
How had she never noticed before just how lively and adorable Su Yin looked when she was mad?
Before Su Yin could react, Ming Muyao leaned in and gently bit her on the lips.
Su Yin jolted, quickly covering her mouth. Her cheeks flushed a deep red, like a ripe peach.
Too cute.
“You—”
“I’m heading into a meeting. You stay here and focus on your work,” Ming Muyao said, clearly tempted to kiss her again, but knowing the girl would get too flustered, she held back. Straightening up, she added, “There aren’t many people in the office today. The secretary and assistant aren’t here. If you get hungry or thirsty, text me or go to the break room. There’s tea, coffee, drinks, and some snacks.”
Su Yin’s face was still red, and she hadn’t recovered from the sneak kiss when Ming Muyao started rattling off all these instructions. She sat there, dazed.
How could someone kiss her like that, then immediately go on to talk about work like it was nothing?
Were all adults this good at switching faces?
Su Yin was stunned.
After giving her all the instructions, Ming Muyao smiled and said from the doorway, “I’m off to my meeting. Message me if you need anything.”
Once she was gone, Su Yin slowly lowered the hand she’d been using to cover her mouth. Looking at the spacious executive desk in front of her, her whole head felt hot.
Ming Muyao went straight to the conference room after leaving the office.
Heng Jingxian and An Jinyao had already arrived. The meeting had been going for over thirty minutes by the time Ming Muyao showed up.
They gave her a glance but didn’t greet her, continuing their discussion with the other attendees.
After a week of evaluation, Heng Jingxian’s company had found a few issues. They were genuinely interested in the acquisition, so they were willing to negotiate on aspects that could be improved. It wasn’t about shooting everything down—it was about finding compromises and working things out.
As Ming Muyao sat down, she noticed someone sitting behind Heng Jingxian—head lowered, typing away on a keyboard balanced on their knees, clearly taking meeting notes.
Si Chen?
That assistant of Heng Jingxian’s—the Omega who had accidentally gone into heat during that dinner.
Had she recovered already after just a week?
Ming Muyao couldn’t help but glance at the girl again, only to be met with a cold, sharp look from Heng Jingxian, who seemed to be saying with her eyes: Try looking again and see what happens.
Ming Muyao: …
Weird. Is Heng Jingxian this protective of her girlfriend in the main storyline?
Or is it one of those cases where she can bully her wife all she wants, but no one else is allowed to even look?
Ming Muyao blinked and shamelessly smiled at Heng Jingxian.
Just then, Si Chen looked up and, seeing Ming Muyao smiling at her boss, glanced over curiously.
Heng Jingxian immediately sensed it, turned back around, and shot a glare at Si Chen. No one knew what she said, but Si Chen instantly tensed up and obediently lowered her head, continuing to type without looking up again.
Ming Muyao sighed inwardly. If Heng always acts like this, she’s definitely going to have to chase her wife in the future.
