Rumor Has It I Don’t Follow A-Class Morals - Chapter 6
Xu Zhu—a woman Ming Muyao vaguely remembered.
From the chat history on her phone, Xu Zhu had once invited Ming Muyao and Su Yin to a bar. It seemed like someone else had brought their wife too, probably planning some kind of partner-swapping game. The whole night had ended with Ming Muyao getting into a car accident.
Just yesterday, Xu Zhu had messaged to ask if she’d been discharged from the hospital and said she wanted to visit.
Back then, Ming Muyao had been so disgusted reading their old chats that she’d blocked her without hesitation. She hadn’t expected the woman to come find her in person.
Xu Zhu smiled when she saw Ming Muyao, then turned to Su Yin and said cheerfully, “Yinyin, I heard you were in a car accident too. How are you doing now?”
Su Yin seemed frightened of her. She stood up and quickly moved away, not responding.
Xu Zhu didn’t seem upset by the reaction. Her gaze lingered on Su Yin’s back before she finally turned back to Ming Muyao and said, “Ming-jie, Yinyin’s getting prettier and prettier. Last time I saw her, she wasn’t nearly this cute. You’re really lucky.”
Just the way Xu Zhu looked at Su Yin made Ming Muyao feel annoyed. Her gaze was downright sleazy. Ming Muyao genuinely couldn’t understand how a woman’s eyes could look that perverted.
She frowned slightly and ignored the comment, instead asking, “So, why did you come see me today?”
“Oh, it’s nothing serious,” Xu Zhu replied with a smile. “I should’ve visited you when you were in the hospital, but I was too busy. So, I came today specially to check on you.”
Ming Muyao didn’t feel like talking to her at all. Since she said she came to “check on her,” and now she had, it was time to send her off.
“I just got out of the hospital. Still not feeling great,” Ming Muyao said, rubbing her temples and frowning. “I was planning to take a nap, but now that you’re here, I can’t even sleep.”
The original body must’ve had this kind of blunt personality, because Xu Zhu didn’t seem surprised. She just laughed and said, “Alright then, I won’t bother you. Let’s hang out again when you’re feeling better.”
Ming Muyao nodded. “I won’t see you out.”
“Wait a second.” Xu Zhu didn’t get up. Instead, she leaned over and sat beside Ming Muyao, whispering, “Ming-jie, about that thing we talked about—have you made up your mind?”
What thing?
Ming Muyao blinked. How the hell would I know what I’m supposed to have decided?
“Not yet,” she said, lowering her eyes. “I just got out of the hospital. I really need to rest right now—I haven’t had the energy to think about anything else.”
“Ming-jie, you’ve got to hurry up,” Xu Zhu said seriously. “It’s not easy to divorce an Omega these days. And with your company’s financial situation in trouble, you need to marry a rich heiress ASAP. A strategic marriage is the only way to give the company a chance to survive.”
What?
I’m supposed to get a divorce?
Ming Muyao frowned. Judging by what Xu Zhu said, it sounded like the company was in financial trouble and needed her to marry some rich heiress just to fill the financial hole with her dowry?
What kind of scumbags are these people?
It wasn’t enough to drag Su Yin into this mess, now they want me to divorce her and scam some other rich girl?
She furrowed her brows tightly. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of movement in the kitchen—it was Su Yin. She had probably overheard what Xu Zhu said.
She couldn’t get divorced. Not yet.
Ming Muyao felt like she still didn’t fully understand the situation. If she got divorced now and threw someone new into the mix, things would only get messier.
And besides, what did the company’s financial issues have to do with her?
“I know, I’m thinking about it,” she said, waving a hand tiredly. “I’m just really exhausted today. Why don’t you head out first?”
Xu Zhu hesitated, then gave a forced smile. “Then… Ming-jie, can you add me back as a friend? You probably hit the wrong button and blocked me by accident.”
That wasn’t an accident. I blocked you on purpose.
“I got it.” Ming Muyao sighed and pulled out her phone. “Go ahead, scan me.”
Even though she didn’t want to have anything to do with the original body’s trashy social circle, it was still best not to let too many people know she had amnesia. That would only complicate things.
After adding her back, Xu Zhu beamed and said, “Ming-jie, we just got a new batch of Omegas at the club—all freshly eighteen, super pretty and sweet. I’ll save a few good ones for you, come by sometime.”
Ming Muyao forced a smile. “Got it.”
Then Xu Zhu lowered her voice and said sneakily, “Ming-jie, if you really do divorce Su Yin someday, don’t forget about me. Girls like her would be perfect at my place.”
Ming Muyao’s face instantly darkened. She gave Xu Zhu a cold, fake smile and said, “You can leave now.”
Get the hell out!!
Xu Zhu came fast and left even faster. She was barely there five minutes, yet she managed to piss Ming Muyao off to the point her head was throbbing.
Sheesh, what kind of people did the original me hang around with?
A bunch of messed-up degenerates. They even wanted to pimp out Su Yin after the divorce?
If even Xu Zhu was like this, Ming Muyao didn’t even want to imagine what the rest of those spoiled rich kids were like. They were probably even more disturbing.
Even if she couldn’t let them know about the amnesia, Ming Muyao decided she had to find a way to cut ties with that entire crowd as soon as possible.
Getting exposed wasn’t even the worst part. The real fear was getting dragged into their filth.
She was just an ordinary, law-abiding citizen. She didn’t break laws, didn’t do drugs, worked hard, and contributed to the economy. That kind of person should be a role model anywhere in the world. No way was she going to crash and burn in a place like this.
Once she calmed herself down, Ming Muyao realized Su Yin might have overheard the earlier conversation. Worried about any misunderstandings, she quickly got up and went to the kitchen.
She found Su Yin sitting on a small stool, hugging her knees, looking downcast and lost in thought.
When Su Yin saw her, she seemed surprised and tried to stand up—but her legs were numb, and she ended up collapsing to the floor.
Ming Muyao rushed over and helped her up.
“You okay?” she asked, holding Su Yin’s cold hand. “Why are your hands so cold?”
Su Yin shook her head and said softly, “I’m fine.”
Ming Muyao already had a pretty good idea why her hands were cold, even if she didn’t say it.
“Did you overhear what Xu Zhu said just now?” she asked.
Su Yin trembled slightly, unable to either nod or shake her head.
Ming Muyao sighed and started gently rubbing her icy hands. “She said a lot of things I don’t even remember. You know I’ve lost my memory. And even though amnesia isn’t a magic excuse for everything, I want you to know—I’m not going to do the things she mentioned.”
Like wrecking another girl’s life, or sending Su Yin to work in a bar after a divorce…
Ridiculous. What kind of person even comes up with this garbage?
That’s not just scummy—it’s straight-up evil.
Su Yin looked up at her, her hands now warm from being held. For a moment, it all felt like a dream.
“…A lot of people get sent to bars or clubs after divorce,” Su Yin said in a small voice. “Those Omegas can only serve guests. They barely make enough to eat.”
“I’ll behave from now on,” she added. “I won’t hurt you again. I’ll do whatever you say. Please don’t divorce me—I don’t want to end up in a place like that.”
Sure, Ming Muyao had hit her, yelled at her—but at least that was just dealing with one person.
If she got sent to a bar to survive, there was no telling what kind of people she’d have to deal with.
Getting beaten or insulted would be the least of her worries. If she met someone with twisted tastes, she might not even survive.
Su Yin was already an adult, and she’d long since learned what happened to unlucky Omegas. In this world, Alphas naturally held most of the power and had strong sexual urges. It wasn’t rare to see an Omega in heat getting abused by a group of Alphas—sometimes until they were ruined or dead.
She was still so young. Just nineteen. She didn’t want her life to be over already.
So Su Yin would rather stay by Ming Muyao’s side. Better to be hit than dead. If she had to rot in the mud, she’d rather be beaten to death than thrown away like garbage.
Ming Muyao had no idea what was going through her head. If she did, she’d probably be stunned—how could someone think getting beaten to death was the better option?
“I’m not going to divorce you,” Ming Muyao said gently, trying to comfort her. “Just stay with me and don’t overthink things.”
Su Yin nodded, surrendering to the idea.
After coaxing her for a while longer, Ming Muyao noticed she still looked pale, so she told her to go rest in her room.
Even though she said she wouldn’t divorce her, Ming Muyao knew deep down that it was just a matter of time.
She didn’t have any real feelings for Su Yin. They weren’t even that close. She was just a 19-year-old girl—barely older than her own cousin. Still just a kid.
Sure, Su Yin was cute, and Ming Muyao had always liked pretty girls. But she wasn’t the kind of person who’d take advantage of a teenager.
At that age, you’re supposed to be in school—not married. Getting married too early could ruin someone’s future.
Ming Muyao gave herself a mental pat on the back and decided to find a good time to end the marriage gently—and help Su Yin find a more reliable Alpha.
That night, Su Yin ate a bit more than usual, which improved Ming Muyao’s mood. After they went to bed, she finally pulled out her phone, thinking she should start learning more about the company’s situation.
But as soon as she opened it, she got a message from Xu Zhu.
It was a video. Xu Zhu had filmed a group of scantily clad girls standing against a wall under flashing neon lights. On the other side sat a group of casually lounging men and women.
“Ming-jie, you really should come see this batch,” Xu Zhu’s voice said from the video, laughing. “These Omegas are just your type—pure and cute. Rest up and heal, and when you come to the club, I’ll set you up with the prettiest little Os!”
