Rumor Has It, That Omega Rocked the Stage Again! - Chapter 1
Early morning, dappled sunlight streamed through the latticed carved windows, transforming the once-dark room into a golden hue.
The room was sparsely furnished, with only a large solitary bed where a lone figure lay. In the haze of waking, something seemed to call to her—Mu Li opened her eyes.
Her delicate face was framed by a high, straight nose, and her lips were naturally rosy without a trace of makeup. Long, straight black hair cascaded down her back, stark against her fair skin. Her Peach Blossom Eyes, still hazy with sleep and glistening with unshed tears, fluttered beneath long lashes, evoking an air of pitiable vulnerability as she gazed bewildered at the unfamiliar surroundings.
This was not Mu Li’s original world. Her last memory was of the heavenly tribulation before her ascension. She had lived for far too many years, transforming herself from an unnoticed disciple in her sect to a revered elder.
She had thought she was leaving that world for good, but fate had granted her a second chance. The echoes of thunder still rang in her ears, making her eardrums buzz.
As the original host’s memories flooded her mind like a tidal wave, Mu Li’s vision darkened, teetering on the edge of unconsciousness. The memories told her it was now the year 1039 in the stellar calendar.
The original host shared the same name as Mu Li but had lived a completely different life. Mu Li didn’t know where she came from—any trace of childhood innocence had been worn away by years of hardship and displacement.
After being taken in by her sect, Mu Li grew accustomed to the selfishness and indifference of the world, becoming increasingly distant and cold.
The original host, however, had been part of a complicated blended family. Her father, Mu Ye, was an absolute scoundrel. During his university days, he had fallen head over heels for Fu Yao, the original host’s mother, who came from a wealthy family, and pursued her relentlessly.
With his handsome looks and undeniable charm, Fu Yao quickly succumbed to his advances. But no one could have predicted that after their marriage, Mu Ye’s childhood sweetheart, Xu Li, would reappear. Mu Ye kept Fu Yao in the dark while secretly carrying on with Xu Li.
Fu Yao had few relatives, and after her parents died in a car accident, she was left alone, pregnant and unable to manage the vast Fu family fortune, which fell into Mu Ye’s hands. One day, Fu Yao returned home early and caught Xu Li and Mu Ye entangled in bed.
Xu Li was a plain, unremarkable woman, appearing petty and insignificant compared to Fu Yao. Yet it was precisely this mediocrity that fed Mu Ye’s Alpha ego and needed control.
Fu Yao, already close to her due date, was so enraged by her husband’s betrayal that she went into premature labor. In the end, she passed away shortly after giving birth to Mu Li. Less than six months after Fu Yao’s death, Xu Li boldly moved into the Mu household with her son, Mu Anming, who was a year older than the original host. The original host became an orphan, unwanted by her father and bereft of her mother.
When the original host was two, Xu Li gave birth to a daughter, Mu Anlan. Later, when her stepbrother presented herself as an Alpha and she as an Omega, the original host was naturally cast aside, treated with indifference even by the household servants.
She had thought that if she stayed obedient and kept her head down, she could survive until she turned eighteen and left the Mu family. But how could they let her go so easily? Everything changed on her eighteenth birthday.
The Mu family received a communication from the Gene Matching Bureau: Mu Li and Ji Yu’s genetic compatibility had reached 60%, making them eligible for marriage.
The Mu family was a relatively well-known, newly rising family in the remote planet of Snow Star. Compared to the Ji family, who had been generals for generations and held the highest military authority in the Federation, they were completely insignificant. If they could establish ties with the Ji family, it would be no difficult feat for the Mu family to rise into the upper echelons of the Federation in the future.
Ji Yu was the current head of the Ji family. Her parents and elder brother had sacrificed their lives on the battlefield to protect the peace of the Federation when she was fifteen. Ji Yu had always been the most outstanding among her peers, not only due to her striking appearance but also her awe-inspiring SSS-Rank Mental Strength—a rarity even in interstellar history. Since taking over the Ji family’s military department forces, Ji Yu had written her name into legend through countless battles.
But that was the Ji Yu of the past.
The current Ji Yu had suffered Mental Strength Disorder while slaying the Queen Zerg, and her Sea of Consciousness had been corroded by the venom of the toxic Zerg, bringing her to the brink of a complete Mental Breakdown. The higher an Alpha’s rank, the harder it was to find an Omega capable of soothing and treating their Mental Strength. The Federation had never even seen an Omega above S-Rank.
If Ji Yu’s Mental Strength collapsed, her SSS-Rank power would cause immense destruction to her surroundings. Thus, the Ji family had been desperately searching for an Omega with compatible Pheromones. While only an SSS-Rank Omega could fully cleanse the dark spots in Ji Yu’s Sea of Consciousness, an Omega with matching Pheromones could still provide surface-level Mental Strength soothing.
The original owner of this body had heard that Ji Yu was now on the verge of death due to Mental Strength Disorder. She had also seen news reports of people who suffered Mental Breakdowns—losing their sanity, turning violent, and even attacking their own loved ones. Terrified of being tortured to death, she swallowed sleeping pills that very night, paving the way for Mu Li’s arrival.
After absorbing the information about this world, Mu Li rubbed her temples. The original owner’s situation was dire—caught between a rock and a hard place. The Mu family was no safe haven, and if she didn’t go to the Ji family, she would simply be handed off to another family as a sacrificial pawn for the Mu family’s benefit. Choosing the Ji family might at least offer a sliver of hope.
It was mealtime, and Mu Li followed her memories to the dining hall. Everyone was present. Seated at the head of the table, Mu Ye took one look at Mu Li and declared, “Have you thought about the matter with the Ji family? I’ve already discussed it with their elders. The marriage procedures will be completed tomorrow.” Though phrased as a question, his tone brooked no argument.
“I heard your Pheromones matched Marshal Ji’s? What was your scent again? Pungent pepper, wasn’t it? Marshal Ji certainly has… unique tastes,” Mu Anming remarked flippantly, picking up a slice of bread.
Mu Li was surprised to hear about the pepper scent, but before she could respond, Mu Anlan sneered, “An Omega like you—only B-Rank Mental Strength, and so tall and ungainly—no Alpha would ever want you. You should cherish this opportunity.” Despite her own A-Rank Mental Strength, Mu Anlan always acted as though it made her superior.
Xu Li put on a motherly smile and chided, “Anlan, don’t say such things.” She then handed Mu Li a piece of toast and added, “A-Li, don’t take it to heart. Your sister speaks without thinking. But she isn’t entirely wrong—once you’re with the Ji family, you must remember to support the Mu family. Don’t leave yourself isolated and helpless. Who knows how long Ji Yu has left? If you end up a widow, you’ll still need to rely on the Mu family.” Mu Li watched coldly as the family of four took turns speaking. She raised her head nonchalantly and said, “Whether the Ji family helps or not isn’t something I can decide. If you want insurance, you can always send Mu Anlan to my place.”
Just as Mu Anlan was about to stand up and retort, Xu Li pressed her back down. Mu Li took a few slices of bread, unwilling to prolong the argument, and turned to Mu Ye. “I’ll go.”
When Mu Li returned to her room, she tried summoning her Spiritual Power but found her dantian empty. However, she sensed some force in her Sea of Consciousness stirring in response, ready to surge forth. As she attempted to channel it, she discovered Mental Strength as potent as her Spiritual Power!
Unlike the original owner who meekly obeyed others, Mu Li had always lived by the principle of not provoking others but retaliating fiercely when provoked.
The next day, as Mu Ye had said, the Ji family sent someone with Ji Yu’s documents. StarNet made marriage procedures quick—just present the required papers, and registration was complete. And so, Mu Li married herself off without ever having met Ji Yu.
Soon after, Mu Li followed the Ji family members to Capital Star.
The journey was long, and Mu Li rested briefly on the spaceship. When she opened her eyes again, the ship was already descending. Through the window, she saw an ancient, sprawling structure. In this interstellar era where greenery was scarce, the estate’s towering, lush vegetation stood out vividly.
The spaceship landed before the main entrance, where people were already waiting. After several major space jumps and the lingering damage from the original owner’s sleeping pill overdose, Mu Li’s face was alarmingly pale, her frame appearing even more fragile.
The butler stepped forward respectfully with a slight bow. “Miss Mu, you must be exhausted from the journey. Would you like to rest first or come with me to see the young lady?”
A gust of cold wind cleared Mu Li’s mind slightly, easing the discomfort in her chest. Sensing the butler’s kindness, she smiled faintly. “Please take me to see the Marshal first.”
“I’ve been caring for the young lady for years. If you don’t mind, you may call me Uncle Wang, as she does. This way, please,” the butler replied.
Mu Li entered the European-style castle. Contrary to her expectations of opulence, the interior exuded simple elegance—understated yet luxurious furnishings arranged in a style she favored.
She was led to a room on the third floor where the butler stopped and knocked. “Young lady, Miss Mu is here.”
Silence. Just as the butler awkwardly prepared to suggest Mu Li leave, Ji Yu’s voice came through—cold and firm, slightly hoarse from illness, blending feminine softness with the commanding presence of a high-ranking Alpha. “Come in.”
So this was her spouse. Mu Li took a slow breath and pushed the door open.
The room’s decor was minimalist—black, white, and gray. The neatly made bed reflected standard military precision.
Ji Yu sat on the sofa with her back to Mu Li, gazing out the window. Amidst her Mental Strength Disorder, she endured constant torment—her mind assailed by tendrils of Mental Strength wrenched her nerves apart.
Compounded by Queen Zerg’s venom injected into her Sea of Consciousness, her Mental Strength grew increasingly chaotic, the agony relentless. Yet Ji Yu’s spine remained rigidly straight.
From behind, only chestnut-brown long curls casually cascaded down her back could be seen, while her exposed arms revealed a fair honeyed complexion—though not as radiantly pale as Mu Li’s. Mu Li approached slowly, but before she could steady herself, Ji Yu turned around.
Having witnessed countless beauties over thousands of years, Mu Li had to admit that Ji Yu truly lived up to her title as the Federation’s most beautiful woman on StarNet—no wonder she was hailed as the most desired marriage partner across all three genders: Alpha, Beta, and Omega. Her narrow phoenix eyes, slightly upturned at the corners, exuded a unique charm.
Ji Yu tilted her head slightly to study Mu Li and said, “You must be Mu Li? I’m Ji Yu.”
