Rumor Has It, That Omega Rocked the Stage Again! - Chapter 19
Mu Anming now clearly realized that Mu Li was no longer the timid little girl who would shrink away in the corner. She had grown up, and the gap between them was widening.
The next day, just as Mu Anming had predicted, those spoiled young masters used their family connections to lodge complaints with the principal’s office, demanding apologies and compensation from Mu Li and the others.
“Are those guys still in elementary school? Can’t win a fight so they tattle to their parents and teachers?” Ailina scoffed with a laugh.
Bai Jingli wiped his sweat with a towel and said, “Let’s just go check it out together. We can’t let Mu Li face this alone.”
Upon hearing the news, all members of the Mecha Club insisted on going to the principal’s office to clarify the situation, refusing to let Mu Li handle it by herself. Unable to dissuade them, Mu Li went along with the group.
As soon as they stepped out of the Mecha Club, a familiar spaceship was descending onto the open field—it was Ji Yu, who had been absent for over a week! The five of them, already nervous about being summoned for a reprimand, grew even more apprehensive at the sight of the usually strict Ji Yu. With the principal ahead and their instructor behind them, today was truly an inauspicious day to go out.
Ji Yu stepped off the spaceship, brushing aside the stray hairs on her forehead. Seeing the five leaving the Mecha Club at this hour—she had rushed back early specifically for Mu Li—why was Mu Li trying to leave upon seeing her? Displeased, she asked, “Is training over for today?”
Noticing Ji Yu’s misunderstanding, Mu Li shook her head and explained, “No, the principal wants to see us about something. Can we leave for a while?”
Ji Yu frowned at this. Normally, matters requiring the principal’s involvement were serious. Could it be about the Mecha Competition? But she hadn’t heard any important announcements. Could she say no? Or maybe just let the other four go and keep Mu Li here? These single Alphas would never understand.
Seeing Ji Yu’s frown, Bai Jingli assumed she was unhappy—after all, this was her teaching time, and they couldn’t afford to waste a Federal Marshal’s schedule. He cautiously suggested, “Instructor, should we finish training first and go later?”
Ji Yu waved her hand magnanimously. “I’ll wait here for you. Make it quick.”
When Mu Li’s group arrived at the principal’s office, chaos had already erupted inside.
A well-maintained noblewoman tugged at her son, whose face was still swollen, and shrilled, “Principal, our family donates to the First Military Academy every year. We don’t ask for much, but we didn’t send our son here to get beaten up like this!”
Another woman chimed in, “My son may not excel in combat, but that doesn’t mean he should be bullied like this.”
“That’s right, Principal. You must give us justice,” a familiar voice interjected—it was Xu Li.
After being forced by the Mu family to publicly apologize, Xu Li had lost face among noble circles, staying indoors at the Mu residence, too ashamed to socialize. Mu Anming’s fight had alarmed several prominent families—many of the beaten Alphas, like Mu Anming, were sole heirs.
With this connection, when others approached Xu Li to join them in demanding justice, she seemed to forget the humiliation of the press conference. Head held high, she marched into the First Military Academy with them.
Though a military academy, the principal was more adept at administrative duties and had a gentle demeanor, which emboldened the parents to disregard military regulations and cause a scene in his office.
Mu Li and the other four listened at the door for a while, but the noise inside was too grating, so they knocked and entered. As expected, Mu Li saw Xu Li inside, who hadn’t noticed her yet, busy talking to a teacher.
“Principal, you asked for us?” Mu Li’s group greeted respectfully, the picture of model students—a stark contrast to the troublemakers on the other side. Anyone’s first instinct would be to side with Mu Li’s group.
The principal waved them over. “You’re here. Come in. Do you remember these students?” He pointed to the red-faced troublemakers.
Unsure of the principal’s stance, Mu Li remained cautious and nodded. “Yes, we ran into them yesterday.”
Before Mu Li could finish, a well-dressed woman snapped at the principal, “See? They admit it! They’re the ones who beat our sons yesterday. Look at their faces—how are they supposed to show themselves at school after this? Everyone saw it!”
A few teachers mediating the situation frowned slightly. Regardless of whether Mu Li’s group had actually done it, demanding justice without even hearing the facts was unreasonable.
The principal tried to mediate. “Madam, let’s hear the students’ side first.” He then looked at Mu Li, signaling them to explain.
Ailina, worried Mu Li might struggle to articulate the situation, spoke up first. “Yesterday, the five of us were on our way to eat when we ran into Mu Anming and his friends. They provoked us first—insulted Mu Li.”
Bai Jingli added, “Mu Li is an Omega, and their words were disgusting. I stepped in to say something, and they threw the first punch. We acted in self-defense. You can check the surveillance, Principal.”
The principal nodded. “I’ve looked into it. They did strike first.”
Mu Anming’s face flushed with anger. Mu Li just stood there quietly, yet people rushed to defend her. She was the reason this happened, yet she didn’t have to lift a finger—others fought for her.
The wealthy women were used to throwing their weight around. If money couldn’t solve the problem, they’d use influence. To them, right or wrong didn’t matter—their sons had been hit, so the other side was guilty.
“I don’t care what happened. This is just their version. All I see is them standing here unharmed while our sons are bruised and battered. They must apologize!”
Another woman, eyeing her son’s pained expression, chimed in, “A public apology, or how will our sons save face?”
The principal’s temple throbbed at their stubbornness, but his composure kept him from snapping. “Do any of you have anything to say?” he asked the troublemakers.
Mu Anming exchanged glances with his friends, resentment flickering in their eyes. He shook his head. If he couldn’t refute the facts, he’d just deny them. “If you’ve already decided they’re right, why ask us? I won’t accept this outcome.”
At this moment, a male Omega who had remained silent but was surrounded by several noblewomen spoke up, “Principal, we don’t wish to escalate this matter either. Our family has been providing your school with basic mechas for student training all these years without asking for anything in return. But if this issue cannot be resolved amicably, I’ll have no choice but to reconsider our funding for your institution.”
The principal fell silent instantly. Compared to the school’s mecha equipment, monetary donations paled in significance. He could afford to overlook wealthy families who had donated money, but mechas were already in short supply. The school’s training programs caused significant wear and tear, and relying solely on the school’s budget to purchase replacements would never be enough.
Seeing the principal’s hesitation, Mu Li’s heart sank. This conflict was between her and Mu Anming. If it only affected her, she wouldn’t mind, but she couldn’t drag her teammates—who had stood up for her—into this mess.
Mu Li’s face betrayed no fear as her mind raced for a solution.
Mu Anming stared intently at Mu Li, searching for even the slightest trace of panic in her composed demeanor. Ever since Mu Li left the Mu family, she had changed completely.
Though Mu Li’s delicate features were soft and picturesque, her mesmerizing Peach Blossom Eyes often carried a sharp, icy gaze, lending her an otherworldly air of detachment.
It was precisely this that made Mu Anming even more determined to destroy her, to drag her into the abyss and ensure she never rose again.
The principal hesitated before speaking, “Escalating this matter won’t benefit anyone. How about settling it privately? Would that work?”
Mu Li and her teammates were about to represent the school in a competition. He couldn’t bear to tarnish their records for the school’s sake and wanted to minimize the damage.
“Public apology and a permanent mark on their records,” the male Omega declared, sensing the principal’s wavering stance. His tone grew more aggressive, as if he wouldn’t back down until his demands were met.
Just as the principal struggled to make a decision, the office door swung open. Ji Yu walked in.
At the sight of Ji Yu, the previously smug noblewomen instantly paled. Could Ji Yu be here to help those five students? The Ji family was not someone they could afford to offend!
“Principal, is your office still handling student disputes?” Ji Yu scanned the room. She rarely attended social gatherings and didn’t recognize most of the noblewomen present.
Her gaze landed on Mu Li and her teammates, who stood together with grim expressions. The thought of Mu Li being bullied by these women ignited an inexplicable fury in Ji Yu’s heart.
She had been standing outside the door for a while, listening to the entire exchange. The Mu Li she treated with such care during training was now being slandered here?
“Principal, as compensation for the trouble I caused during my student days, I’d like to donate mecha equipment to the school in the Ji family’s name,” Ji Yu proposed as she stepped forward.
The principal and teachers knew exactly what she meant by “trouble”—her frequent destruction of mechas back then. If anyone else had offered to donate mechas, the principal might have hesitated. But Ji Yu was different. As the holder of the Federation’s highest military authority, procuring even advanced mechas was no challenge for her, let alone basic ones.
The principal realized Ji Yu was here to stand up for the Mecha Squad. For these students to earn Ji Yu’s admiration after just a few days together, their future must be truly promising. The principal cooperatively gestured for her to continue.
Ji Yu spoke calmly, “I have only one demand. Either they publicly apologize to these five students, or they leave the First Military Academy. Students who slander facts and bully their classmates shouldn’t tarnish the academy’s reputation.”
Upon hearing this, the noblewomen could no longer stay seated. They were about to protest, but one sharp glance from Ji Yu silenced them instantly. Today, they had truly kicked an iron plate.
