Rumor Has It, That Omega Rocked the Stage Again! - Chapter 21
Mu Li stood at the entrance of the Mecha Club, composed herself, and pushed the door open.
Ailina excitedly ran toward Mu Li with her Personal Terminal in hand. “Those spoiled brats worked fast. Look at this,” she said.
Mu Li took it with a puzzled expression. The top post on the campus forum was an apology announcement that had just been published. Since it was the weekend, many were online, and the comments had already piled up into thousands of layers.
The comments were roughly divided into two groups: one consisted of bystanders enjoying the drama, while the other included those who had also been bullied by these brats. In any case, for a long time afterward, these troublemakers wouldn’t dare show their faces in public.
As Mu Li handed the Personal Terminal back to Ailina, she noticed someone she hadn’t seen in a long time—the Mecha Club president, Gu Chen.
Gu Chen had now officially joined the military department and was reportedly assigned to a Special Operations Squad, composed of top talents specially recruited after graduating from the First Military Academy to carry out dangerous and high-stakes missions.
Seeing that everyone had arrived, Gu Chen got straight to the point. “I’ve completed the early graduation procedures, so the club is now in your hands. By the way, the Mecha League has officially opened registration. I’m here to confirm—are you all still planning to compete?”
The five of them were slightly baffled. Everyone fought tooth and nail to join the Mecha Club just for a chance to compete. After finally standing out and officially entering, plus training for over half a month, why would they back out now?
Gu Chen noticed their confusion and explained, “Although your instructor is… special and can’t monitor your training around the clock, to be honest, your progress lags behind previous teams.
If you can’t secure first place, the First Military Academy may replace you or withdraw from the competition altogether. After all these years, the Academy can’t afford to lose face. Understood?”
“Yes,” they replied. Though slightly disheartened by Gu Chen’s words, their determination to compete remained unshaken. Besides, as Gu Chen had mentioned, their instructor was special—while short on time, their skill was undoubtedly the best in the club’s history.
Seeing their agreement, Gu Chen turned to leave, as he had an external mission to attend to. But after a few steps, he seemed to remember something and turned back to add, “Your team’s composition is unique, with both genders represented. Whether Alpha or Omega, I hope none of you let emotions interfere before the competition ends.”
His gaze lingered pointedly on Mu Li, the only Omega. Sensing his stare, Mu Li had no objections to his words. Yet, recalling Ji Yu’s recent actions, she felt an awkward embarrassment, as if caught in a budding romance.
Ailina muttered, “With Mu Li’s pheromones, no matter how pretty she is, none of us would dare.”
Chen Xiyuan, standing nearby, overheard and glanced at Mu Li. The memory of her piloting a mecha and unleashing her Mental Strength flashed through his mind, sending a shiver down his spine. He chimed in, “Don’t worry, Senior. The Alpha who can handle Mu Li might not even be born yet.”
Had Ji Yu been present, she would’ve retorted, “Oh, they’re born—25 years old, in fact. You’re just blind.” Unfortunately, Ji Yu wasn’t there.
Though Gu Chen didn’t understand their reasoning, he didn’t press further and simply nodded. “I’m not just talking about Mu Li—this applies to all of you. Don’t stir up trouble that brings Omegas knocking on the club’s door.” His tone carried a hint of resignation, as if recalling past incidents.
After Gu Chen left, Ailina winked at the others. “So, what do you think of the club president?”
Chen Xiyuan feigned regret as he spoke. “Excellent family background, good looks, outstanding academics and personal abilities. What a shame I’m an Alpha. Pity.”
Ailina chimed in, “Exactly! With such great qualities, back then, plenty of Omegas actively sought him out. I heard that whenever Gu Chen was around, the entrance would be swarmed with Omegas. Many even peeked through the windows to catch a glimpse of him.
But look at him—so icy and indifferent. Really doesn’t understand romance.”
Then she turned her thoughtful gaze to Mu Li. “Mu Li, suddenly I feel like your personality is quite cold too. Though you’re fine in daily interactions, Alphas generally prefer Omegas who take the initiative sometimes.
If you stay this aloof all the time, don’t end up like Gu Chen, graduating while still single. What a waste of such great qualities.”
Kevin joined in, “Yeah, Mu Li. Look, there are four Alphas right here. You could use us as test subjects.” He nodded to himself. “If you smiled more during training, I’d definitely be more motivated.”
Bai Jingli smacked Kevin’s chest. “Did you all forget what Gu Chen just said? And does Mu Li seem like that kind of person? I think what you’re missing is a cheerful Omega who can sing and dance, always cheering you on.”
Mu Li felt awkward as the topic shifted back to her. For some reason, today’s discussions kept making her think of Ji Yu, as if everything could somehow circle back to her. Shaking her head, she said, “Let’s train.”
Seeing Mu Li evade the topic again, Ailina pouted. “Fine.”
After training, Mu Li went to Ji Yu’s apartment. Opening the door, she found no one inside. Had Ji Yu left without notifying her due to military affairs?
Just as Mu Li sat down on the sofa, the door opened. Ji Yu walked in, followed by her adjutant carrying two large shopping bags. The adjutant, ever professional, showed no surprise upon seeing Mu Li. After setting the bags down, she saluted Ji Yu and left.
Two hours earlier
After leaving the First Military Academy, Ji Yu still felt uneasy. Something was changing. She had forcefully taken charge of everything concerning Mu Li, wanting Mu Li to turn to her first whenever in trouble. But would Mu Li be unhappy? Yet she couldn’t control her possessiveness.
If Mu Li really got angry, shouldn’t she do something? She wanted Mu Li to be happy too.
Ji Yu searched her limited memories about Omegas. Generally, Omegas were described as delicate, high-maintenance, and fond of spending. So, should she just shower Mu Li with gifts?
But what to buy? Left with no choice, Ji Yu logged into StarNet.
Upon entering the forum, she spotted a help post: I’m an Alpha. I think I said something today that upset my Omega. What should I do? When my Omega is angry, they completely ignore me.
The replies varied, but Ji Yu picked a few highly upvoted ones.
Isn’t it easy to coax someone? Just buy them flowers.
What can’t be solved with a hug? If one isn’t enough, add a kiss! Or you could do some exercise together.
Omegas always say one thing but mean another. OP, what did you do to upset him? When he says yes, he means no; when he says no, he means yes. Remember that!
Prepare a candlelit dinner. Cooking for him yourself will definitely move him. Say some sweet words too—works every time for my wife.
Let me summarize: buy, buy, buy + sweet talk!
…
Ji Yu silently took note of these suggestions, changed her flight route to head to the supermarket, and called for her adjutant. This led to the scene Mu Li witnessed.
Mu Li walked over to help Ji Yu carry one of the shopping bags. When she opened it, she found all kinds of ingredients—raw ingredients.
“You’re going to cook? You know how?” Mu Li looked at Ji Yu in surprise. She didn’t seem like the type who could cook at all.
But Ji Yu had already decided that if she wanted to properly coax someone, she had to do it herself. Even if she didn’t know how, she had to learn. An Alpha’s dignity told her she must never back down! “Yeah, I’ve seen people cook—it looks easy. Go sit down and wait for me,” Ji Yu declared confidently.
However, reality had a way of testing Ji Yu. Before Mu Li could even pick a TV channel, the sound of things clattering came from the kitchen. Mu Li rushed over to check and found Ji Yu holding a knife, a live fish flopping wildly on the floor, along with other unprepared ingredients scattered everywhere.
Ji Yu stopped Mu Li from reaching for the fish. Today, her Alpha pride was beyond saving, so Ji Yu decided to give up. “I’ll call someone to clean this up. Should we just go out to eat?” she suggested helplessly.
In the end, the two went to a more private restaurant. Ji Yu served Mu Li a dish, her voice tinged with grievance. “I originally wanted to cook dinner for you.”
Mu Li took a sip of soup and asked curiously, “Why the sudden urge to cook?”
Ji Yu hesitated. Should she tell Mu Li that she was afraid Mu Li would get angry and leave her?
No—she wasn’t worried about Mu Li leaving her. She just wanted to enjoy the soothing effects of Mu Li’s high Mental Strength. Yes, it was for survival!
Ji Yu rolled her eyes and said, “Life is about learning new things. I just wanted to try.” Then she went back to eating.
Mu Li studied her but didn’t press further when Ji Yu fell silent.
Truthfully, when Mu Li saw Ji Yu bustling around in the kitchen, she was astonished. Ji Yu was a Marshal who held the highest military authority in the Federation. She could recklessly challenge others to duels, dominate battlefields with godlike strategy—but cooking, this domestic task, seemed completely out of place for her.
Mu Li had also seen Cultivation Partners who, despite being able to sustain themselves without food, still cooked for their loved ones. That was the feeling of home—something that gave people an unspoken sense of belonging.
After dinner, they returned home, and Ji Yu went to shower first.
Knock, knock, knock. Mu Li opened the door and, before she could make out the figure standing there, was startled by the enormous bouquet of flowers in their arms.
“Hello, these are for Ms. Ji Yu.”
Mu Li nodded and accepted the flowers. When Ji Yu came out of the shower, drying her hair, she saw Mu Li staring thoughtfully at the bouquet.
The moment Ji Yu saw the flowers, her mind went blank—she had completely forgotten about this! If she could, she would go back in time and slap her past self for going on StarNet to find solutions. This was beyond embarrassing!
Mu Li pointed to the bouquet of flowers nearby and asked, “Did you buy these?”
Ji Yu stammered, “Yes, I thought the place looked a bit plain, so I bought them for decoration.” As she spoke, she placed the flowers on the living room coffee table to show Mu Li.
Ji Yu’s apartment was decorated in simple tones, and though the bouquet clashed with the interior design, it added a touch of warmth to the space. “Hmm, not bad,” Mu Li remarked.
